Ghi-đê-ôn Đánh Bại Quân Ma-đi-an
1Giê-ru Ba-anh (tứ Ghi-đê-ôn) và tất cả thuộc hạ dậy sớm, kéo ra đóng bên suối Ha-rốt. Lúc ấy quân Ma-đi-an đóng ở phía bắc quân Ít-ra-ên, trong thung lũng, bên đồi Mô-rê. 2Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Ghi-đê-ôn: “Quân ngươi đông quá! Ta không cho họ thắng Ma-đi-an đâu, kẻo họ tự phụ, cho rằng: ‘Chính tự sức họ đã cứu họ.’ 3Ngươi phải truyền lệnh: ‘Ai lo, sợ, thì hãy về đi.’” Vậy có 22.000 người bỏ về, còn lại 10.000 người. 4Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu lại phán với Ghi-đê-ôn: “Vẫn còn đông quá! Hãy đem họ xuống dưới suối, Ta sẽ thử họ để định đoạt người nào sẽ đi với ngươi và người nào không phải đi.” 5Khi Ghi-đê-ôn dẫn họ xuống nước, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo ông: “Ngươi để những người dùng tay vốc nước, rồi lấy lưỡi liếm như chó sang một bên, và những người quỳ xuống để uống sang một bên khác.” 6Có 300 người liếm nước trong tay, còn những người khác đều quỳ xuống để uống. 7Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Ghi-đê-ôn: “Ta sẽ dùng 300 người này giải thoát Ít-ra-ên khỏi quyền lực Ma-đi-an. Còn những người khác, hãy cho họ ra về.” 8Ghi-đê-ôn cho tất cả người Ít-ra-ên về, chỉ giữ lại 300 người mà thôi. Những người này lấy lương thực và cầm kèn trong tay. Quân Ma-đi-an đóng trại trong thung lũng, phía dưới trại của Ghi-đê-ôn. 9Ngay đêm ấy, Chúa Hằng Hữu ra lệnh: “Hãy chỗi dậy! Tấn công trại quân Ma-đi-an. Ta sẽ cho các ngươi chiến thắng chúng! 10Nhưng nếu ngươi còn lo sợ, thì dẫn theo Phu-ra, đầy tớ ngươi, đến trại quân. 11Lắng nghe những điều Ma-đi-an bàn tán, rồi ngươi sẽ vững tâm. Khi ấy ngươi sẽ mạnh bạo đem quân tấn công.” Ghi-đê-ôn cùng với Phu-ra đến tận tiền đồn của quân địch. 12Quân đội Ma-đi-an, A-ma-léc, và quân của các dân miền đông đóng dưới thung lũng đông như châu chấu. Bầy lạc đà của họ cũng đông như cát biển—đếm không xuể! 13Vừa lúc Ghi-đê-ôn đến, ông nghe một người đang kể giấc mơ của mình cho bạn: “Tôi thấy có một cái bánh lúa mạch lăn vào trại quân Ma-đi-an, cái bánh này lăn vào một trại, làm cho trại đổ sập xuống lật ngược trên xuống dưới!” 14Người bạn bàn: “Điều đó khác nào gươm của Ghi-đê-ôn, con Giô-ách, người Ít-ra-ên. Chúa đã phó Ma-đi-an vào tay người rồi!” 15Khi Ghi-đê-ôn nghe câu chuyện về giấc mơ và lời bàn xong, ông cúi đầu tạ ơn Chúa Hằng Hữu. Rồi ông trở về trại Ít-ra-ên và gọi lớn: “Hãy thức dậy! Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ta thắng quân Ma-đi-an rồi.” 16Ông chia quân làm ba đội, mỗi đội 100 người và đưa cho mỗi người một cây kèn, một cái bình, trong bình có một cây đuốc. 17Ông dặn họ: “Khi đến ngoài trại địch, anh em hãy làm theo những điều tôi làm. 18Khi tôi và những người đi với tôi thổi kèn, anh em ở quanh trại cũng thổi kèn lên, rồi hô to: ‘Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu và vì Ghi-đê-ôn!’” 19Vào nửa đêm ▼▼ Nt đầu canh hai
, Ghi-đê-ôn dẫn 100 quân lẻn đến bên ngoài trại quân Ma-đi-an. Ngay lúc lính canh vừa đổi phiên, họ thổi kèn, đập vỡ bình cầm nơi tay. 20Bấy giờ cả ba đội quân Ít-ra-ên đồng loạt thổi kèn, đập vỡ bình. Mỗi người tay trái cầm đuốc, tay phải cầm kèn thổi vang trời. Họ đồng thanh hô to: “Lưỡi gươm vì Chúa Hằng Hữu và vì Ghi-đê-ôn!” 21Họ cứ đứng tại chỗ quanh trại và nhìn quân Ma-đi-an chạy tán loạn, vừa kêu la vừa tìm đường tẩu thoát. 22Tiếng kèn của 300 người Ít-ra-ên vang động, Chúa Hằng Hữu khiến cho quân địch quay lại chém giết lẫn nhau. Số còn lại chạy dài cho đến Bết Si-ta gần Xê-xa-ra, và đến tận biên giới A-bên Mê-hô-la, gần Ta-bát. 23Người thuộc đại tộc Nép-ta-li, A-se, và Ma-na-se được huy động đi truy nã quân Ma-đi-an. 24Ghi-đê-ôn cũng sai người đi khắp núi Ép-ra-im hô hào: “Hãy xuống đánh quân Ma-đi-an. Hãy chận đường qua Sông Giô-đan của chúng tại Bết Ba-ra.” Vậy quân Ép-ra-im làm theo những lời ấy. 25Họ bắt Ô-rép và Xê-ép, hai tướng chỉ huy của Ma-đi-an, họ giết Ô-rép tại tảng đá Ô-rép, và Xê-ép tại máy ép rượu Xê-ép. Họ vẫn tiếp tục đuổi theo quân Ma-đi-an. Sau đó người Ít-ra-ên đem đầu của Ô-rép và Xê-ép đến cho Ghi-đê-ôn phía bên kia Sông Giô-đan.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
