Sam-sôn Vác Cổng của Ga-xa
1Một ngày nọ, Sam-sôn đến Ga-xa, và qua đêm với một gái điếm. 2Người trong thành bảo nhau rằng Sam-sôn đang ở đây, vậy người Ga-xa bao vây và canh gác cổng thành. Suốt đêm, họ im lặng, thầm bảo nhau: “Khi trời sáng chúng ta sẽ giết hắn.” 3Nhưng Sam-sôn chỉ nằm đến nửa đêm. Ông thức dậy, đi ra cổng thành, nắm cửa của cổng thành, bao gồm cả hai trụ, nhổ bật lên. 4Sau đó, Sam-sôn yêu một cô gái tên là Đa-li-la, sống tại thung lũng Sô-réc. 5Các lãnh tụ Phi-li-tin tìm nàng và nói: “Hãy dụ Sam-sôn nói ra từ đâu hắn có sức mạnh phi thường ấy và cách gì để chế ngự và đánh bại hắn. Rồi mỗi người chúng tôi sẽ tặng chị 12,5 ▼▼ Nt 1.100 siếc-lơ
ký bạc.” 6Đa-li-la hỏi Sam-sôn: “Nhờ đâu anh có sức mạnh hơn người như thế? Chắc chẳng có cách nào trói anh để bắt anh phục được nhỉ?” 7Sam-sôn trả lời: “Nếu trói anh bằng bảy sợi dây cung tươi ▼▼ Loại dây đặc biệt làm cung nỏ
và còn ướt, anh sẽ trở nên yếu đuối như người thường vậy.” 8Các lãnh tụ Phi-li-tin đem cho nàng bảy sợi dây cung tươi và còn ướt để trói Sam-sôn. 9Họ cũng cho người phục sẵn trong nhà. Trói xong, nàng gọi Sam-sôn dậy: “Sam-sôn ơi, người Phi-li-tin đến tấn công anh.” Nhưng ông bứt dây trói đứt như chỉ gai gặp lửa vậy. Như thế, họ chưa khám phá ra bí quyết của sức mạnh Sam-sôn. 10Sau đó, Đa-li-la nói với ông: “Anh đánh lừa em, dối gạt em! Bây giờ, xin cho em biết cách trói anh đi.” 11Sam-sôn đáp: “Nếu trói anh bằng dây thừng mới nguyên, anh sẽ yếu như người thường vậy.” 12Đa-li-la lấy dây thừng mới trói ông, rồi gọi: “Sam-sôn ơi! Người Phi-li-tin đến tấn công anh.” Cũng như lần trước, người Phi-li-tin đã phục sẵn trong nhà, nhưng Sam-sôn bứt dây thừng dễ dàng như bứt chỉ. 13Đa-li-la lại nói: “Anh vẫn lừa gạt, dối trá với em! Xin chỉ cho em cách trói anh đi.” Sam-sôn đáp: “Nếu em dệt bảy lọn tóc của anh vào khung cửi, rồi lấy ghim gài chặt chúng vào thì anh sẽ yếu đi như bao người khác.” Vậy khi ông ngủ, Đa-li-la lấy bảy lọn tóc của ông dệt vào khung cửi. 14Rồi lấy ghim gài chặt lại. Nàng gọi một lần nữa: “Sam-sôn ơi! Người Phi-li-tin tấn công anh.” Sam-sôn thức dậy, kéo tóc, làm gãy chốt khung cửi và đứt hết chỉ. 15Đa-li-la hờn dỗi: “Anh nói ‘anh yêu em’ mà sao không nói thật với em? Anh gạt em ba lần, không cho em biết căn nguyên của sức mạnh anh!” 16Mỗi ngày cô gái cứ gạn hỏi làm ông rất bực bội, cầu cho được chết. 17Cuối cùng, Sam-sôn đành nói ra bí mật của mình: “Dao cạo sẽ không được qua đầu anh, từ khi còn trong lòng mẹ, anh đã được dâng làm người Na-xi-rê của Đức Chúa Trời. Nếu anh bị cạo đầu, sức mạnh sẽ mất, và anh sẽ yếu như một người thường.” 18Đa-li-la biết Sam-sôn đã nói hết sự thật, vội cho người đi gọi các lãnh tụ Phi-li-tin đến. Cô gái nhắn: “Quý ông đến đi, vì lần này hắn đã dốc hết tâm sự cho tôi rồi.” Họ kéo đến, mang theo tiền thưởng. 19Đa-li-la dụ Sam-sôn ngủ trên đùi mình, rồi bảo một người cạo hết bảy chùm tóc trên đầu ông; như vậy cô gái đã chế ngự được ông, vì sức mạnh trong ông không còn nữa. 20Nàng gọi: “Sam-sôn ơi! Người Phi-li-tin tấn công anh.” Ông tỉnh giấc, tự nhủ: “Ta sẽ vùng dậy, thoát thân như những lần trước.” Nhưng ông nhận ra Chúa Hằng Hữu đã từ bỏ mình. 21Người Phi-li-tin đến bắt và khoét mắt ông. 23Các lãnh tụ Phi-li-tin tổ chức đại tiệc liên hoan và dâng lễ vật trong đền thần Đa-gôn của họ. Họ nói: “Thần của chúng ta đã phó kẻ thù của chúng ta là Sam-sôn vào tay chúng ta.” 24Dân chúng vừa thấy người, cũng lên tiếng ca ngợi thần của họ: “Thần chúng ta đã cho chúng ta bắt được Sam-sôn, một kẻ thù phá hoại xứ sở, giết hại nhiều người.” 25Ai nấy đều hân hoan, họ bảo: “Gọi Sam-sôn đến giúp vui!” Vậy, họ dẫn Sam-sôn từ ngục đến để làm trò mua vui, cho ông đứng giữa các cây cột chính của đền. 26Sam-sôn nói với đầy tớ trẻ dắt tay mình: “Cho ta sờ các cây cột để ta tựa mình vào đó.” 27Lúc ấy, đền thờ Đa-gôn dày đặc người. Toàn thể lãnh tụ Phi-li-tin đều ở đó, có chừng 3.000 người cả nam lẫn nữ đang ngồi trên gác thượng xem Sam-sôn làm trò. 28Sam-sôn kêu cầu Chúa Hằng Hữu: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao, xin nhớ đến con lần nữa. Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, xin cho con sức mạnh một lần nữa thôi. Với một hơi thổi để con báo thù người Phi-li-tin đã khoét hai mắt con.” 29Rồi Sam-sôn dùng hai tay nắm hai cột chính nâng đỡ đền thờ. Dồn hết sức vào hai tay, 30ông cầu nguyện: “Xin cho con cùng chết với người Phi-li-tin.” Sam-sôn dùng toàn lực đẩy hai cây cột, đền thờ Đa-gôn đổ xuống, đè chết các lãnh tụ và người Phi-li-tin ở đó. Như thế, lúc chết, Sam-sôn giết nhiều người hơn lúc sống. 31Sau đó, anh em và người nhà ông đến lấy xác. Họ mang xác ông về nhà và chôn tại một nơi giữa Xô-ra và Ê-ta-ôn, nơi chôn Ma-nô-a, cha ông. Sam-sôn làm phán quan Ít-ra-ên trong hai mươi năm.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
