Hãy rao truyền sứ điệp này; đừng bỏ sót một lời nào. 3Có lẽ chúng sẽ lắng tai và quay lại, lìa bỏ con đường xấu. Rồi Ta sẽ đổi ý, không giáng xuống những hình phạt Ta đã hoạch định vì điều ác chúng đã làm. 4Con hãy bảo chúng: ‘Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: Nếu các ngươi không nghe Ta và không giữ lời Ta đã ban ra, 5và nếu các ngươi không vâng lời các đầy tớ Ta, là các nhà tiên tri—vì Ta đã liên tục sai họ đến cảnh báo các ngươi, nhưng các ngươi vẫn không nghe— 6thì Ta sẽ tiêu diệt Đền Thờ này như đã tiêu diệt Si-lô, là nơi đặt Đền Tạm. Ta sẽ khiến Giê-ru-sa-lem bị các dân tộc khắp đất nguyền rủa.’” 7Các thầy tế lễ, các tiên tri, và tất cả dân chúng đều nghe Giê-rê-mi nói những lời ấy trước Đền Thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu. 8Nhưng khi Giê-rê-mi chấm dứt sứ điệp của Chúa, nói những lời Chúa Hằng Hữu đã phán dặn, thì các thầy tế lễ, các tiên tri, và tất cả dân chúng tại Đền Thờ đều xúm lại bắt Giê-rê-mi. “Hãy giết hắn!” Chúng hét lên. 9“Sao ngươi dám nhân danh Chúa mà tiên tri rằng Đền Thờ này sẽ bị tiêu diệt như Si-lô? Ngươi có ý gì mà nói rằng Giê-ru-sa-lem sẽ bị tàn phá và không còn ai cư ngụ?” Tất cả dân chúng đều dọa nạt Giê-rê-mi khi ông đứng trước Đền Thờ. 10Các quan chức Giu-đa nghe việc xảy ra, họ vội vã rời cung vua và đến ngồi tại Cổng Mới của Đền Thờ để canh giữ. 11Các thầy tế lễ và các tiên tri liền trình bày lời buộc tội của mình với các quan chức và dân chúng. “Người này phải chết!” Chúng nói. “Các ông đã nghe tận tai rằng hắn phản bội thế nào, hắn dám tiên tri chống nghịch thành này.” 12Rồi Giê-rê-mi biện hộ với các quan chức và dân chúng. Ông nói: “Chúa Hằng Hữu đã sai tôi nói tiên tri chống lại Đền Thờ này và thành này. Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo tôi phải nói mọi lời Ngài. 13Nhưng nếu các người ngưng làm việc ác và vâng theo tiếng phán dạy của Chúa Hằng Hữu, là Đức Chúa Trời của các người, thì Chúa sẽ đổi ý, không giáng các tai họa Ngài đã cảnh báo chống lại các người. 14Còn về phần tôi, hiện ở trong tay các người—hãy xử tôi theo điều các người cho là phải. 15Nhưng nếu các người giết tôi, thì đương nhiên toàn thể các người sẽ bị coi là đã giết một người vô tội! Trách nhiệm về hành động như thế sẽ nằm trên các người, trên thành này, và trên mỗi người sống trong thành. Vì đó thật là điều chắc chắn rằng Chúa Hằng Hữu đã sai tôi thuật đúng lời Chúa mà các người đã nghe.” 16Nghe xong, các quan chức và dân chúng liền nói các thầy tế lễ và các tiên tri: “Người này không đáng bị tử hình, vì ông ấy chỉ nói với chúng ta nhân danh Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta.” 17Có vài trưởng lão khôn ngoan đứng lên và nói cùng toàn dân đang tụ hợp tại đó. 18Họ nói: “Hãy nhớ rằng khi Mi-ca ở Mô-rê-sết cũng đã nói tiên tri vào đời Vua Ê-xê-chia, nước Giu-đa. Người nói với người Giu-đa rằng: ‘Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân phán:Núi Si-ôn sẽ bị cày như ruộng;
thành Giê-ru-sa-lem sẽ bị sụp đổ!
Và núi nơi Đền Thờ ngự trị chỉ còn là một đỉnh cao.’
19Nhưng có phải Vua Ê-xê-chia và dân chúng đã giết ông vì những điều này không? Không, họ đã quay lại, lìa bỏ tội lỗi mình, và thờ phượng Chúa Hằng Hữu. Họ đã nài xin ơn thương xót của Chúa. Rồi Chúa Hằng Hữu đã đổi ý, không giáng tai họa mà Ngài đã cảnh báo chống nghịch họ. Vì vậy, nếu chúng ta giết người là tự chuốc họa vào thân.” 20Ngay lúc này, U-ri, con Sê-ma-gia, ở Ki-ri-át Giê-a-rim, cũng nhân danh Chúa nói tiên tri. Sứ điệp của U-ri giống hệt những lời Giê-rê-mi đã nói về thành này và dân tộc này. 21Khi Vua Giê-hô-gia-kim, các quan chỉ huy quân đội, và quan chức nghe điều người vừa nói, vua liền sai người giết U-ri. Nhưng U-ri nghe được tin ấy, sợ hãi trốn sang Ai Cập. 22Vua Giê-hô-gia-kim sai Ên-na-than, con Ạc-bồ, cùng vài người khác đến Ai Cập để bắt U-ri. 23Họ dò ra tung tích và bắt U-ri giải người về Vua Giê-hô-gia-kim. Vua dùng gươm giết U-ri và ném xác người trong nghĩa địa thường dân. 24Nhưng lần này, A-hi-cam, con Sa-phan, đã đứng lên bênh vực Giê-rê-mi, và thuyết phục quan chức không giao nộp ông cho đám đông giết hại.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
