1Rô-bô-am đến Si-chem và toàn dân tập họp tại đó để cử hành lễ đăng quang. 2Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát, nhận được tin này khi đang ở Ai Cập, nơi ông chạy trốn Vua Sa-lô-môn. 3Các lãnh đạo của Ít-ra-ên mời Giê-rô-bô-am về nước, và ông hướng dẫn các đại diện dân chúng đến gặp Rô-bô-am và trình bày như sau: 4“Vua cha đã bắt chúng tôi làm việc nặng nề. Bây giờ, nếu vua giảm nhẹ trách nhiệm cho chúng tôi, chúng tôi xin phục vụ vua.” 5Rô-bô-am đáp: “Ba ngày nữa trở lại đây, ta sẽ trả lời.” Mọi người ra về. 6Vua Rô-bô-am hỏi ý kiến những người cao niên trước kia làm cố vấn cho Sa-lô-môn, cha mình: “Các ông nghĩ tôi nên trả lời thế nào?” 7Họ đáp: “Nếu bây giờ vua chịu khó phục vụ dân, đối xử tử tế với họ, họ sẽ thần phục vua mãi mãi.” 8Vua không nghe lời khuyên của những bậc cao niên, nhưng đi bàn với những người trẻ, đồng trang lứa và thân cận với mình. 9Rô-bô-am hỏi: “Dân chúng muốn ta giảm bớt gánh nặng cho họ, các anh em nghĩ sao?” 10Nhóm trẻ đáp: “Vua nên trả lời thế này: ‘Ngón tay út của ta còn lớn hơn lưng cha ta. 11Nếu cha ta bắt các ngươi làm việc nặng nề, ta sẽ gia tăng công tác cho nặng nề hơn. Cha ta dùng roi để trừng trị, ta sẽ dùng bò cạp!’” 12Ba ngày sau, Giê-rô-bô-am và dân chúng trở lại gặp Rô-bô-am. 13Vua không theo lời khuyên của những người cao tuổi, nhưng giở giọng gay gắt, trả lời theo cách 14những người trẻ cố vấn: “Cha ta bắt các ngươi làm việc nặng nề, ta sẽ bắt các ngươi làm nặng nề hơn nữa. Cha ta dùng roi để trừng trị, ta sẽ dùng bò cạp!” 15Vua không nghe lời thỉnh cầu của dân, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu tể trị các diễn biến để làm ứng nghiệm lời Ngài đã dùng A-hi-gia, người Si-lô, nói với Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát. 16Khi thấy vua từ khước thỉnh cầu của họ, người Ít-ra-ên nói: “Chúng ta chẳng có phần gì với Đa-vít!Không thừa hưởng gì nơi con trai Gie-sê cả.
Anh em Ít-ra-ên ơi, về đi thôi!
Từ nay Đa-vít ơi, hãy liệu lấy việc nhà của ông!”
Vậy, người Ít-ra-ên ai nấy trở về trại mình. 17Chỉ còn lại những người ở trong đại tộc Giu-đa thần phục Rô-bô-am. 18Vậy, Rô-bô-am sai A-đô-ram đi tái lập trật tự của nhóm lao công, nhưng A-đô-ram bị dân chúng Ít-ra-ên ném đá chết. Vua Rô-bô-am vội vàng lên xe chạy trốn về Giê-ru-sa-lem. 19Từ đó về sau, người Ít-ra-ên tiếp tục chống lại các vua dòng Đa-vít. 20Khi hay tin Giê-rô-bô-am từ Ai Cập trở về, dân chúng Ít-ra-ên liền tổ chức đại hội, mời ông đến dự, và tôn ông làm vua Ít-ra-ên. Chỉ có đại tộc Giu-đa trung thành với nhà Đa-vít.

21Về đến Giê-ru-sa-lem, Rô-bô-am triệu tập quân sĩ thuộc đại tộc Giu-đa và Bên-gia-min, chọn 180.000 người định đem đi đánh các đại tộc khác của Ít-ra-ên để khôi phục vương quyền. 22Đức Chúa Trời phán bảo Sê-ma-gia, người của Đức Chúa Trời, như sau: 23“Hãy nói với Rô-bô-am, con Sa-lô-môn, vua Giu-đa, và người thuộc hai đại tộc Giu-đa, Bên-gia-min cùng mọi người khác rằng: 24Chúa Hằng Hữu cấm các ngươi đi đánh anh em mình là người Ít-ra-ên. Mỗi người phải trở về nhà mình, vì việc này do Ta định liệu.” Mọi người vâng lời Chúa; ai về nhà nấy.Giê-rô-bô-am Đặt Tượng Bò Vàng
25Giê-rô-bô-am xây thành Si-chem trên núi Ép-ra-im và đóng đô tại đó. Sau đó, vua xây thành Phê-ni-ên. 26Giê-rô-bô-am tự nghĩ: “Không khéo nước lại rơi về tay nhà Đa-vít. 27Chừng nào dân chúng còn đi lên Giê-ru-sa-lem dâng lễ vật lên Chúa Hằng Hữu trong Đền Thờ, họ sẽ trở lòng theo chủ cũ, quay lại giết ta để phục vụ Rô-bô-am, vua Giu-đa.” 28Sau khi tham khảo ý kiến với các cố vấn, vua quyết định làm hai tượng bò con bằng vàng. Vua nói với dân chúng: “Các ngươi phải đi Giê-ru-sa-lem thật xa xôi vất vả. Bây giờ có thần của Ít-ra-ên đây, thần đã đem các ngươi ra khỏi Ai Cập.” 29Vua đặt một tượng ở Bê-tên và một ở Đan. 30Vua làm cho dân phạm tội, vì họ thờ các tượng ấy. ▼▼ Nt Điều này trở nên tội lỗi, vì dân đến trước tượng xa tận Đan
31Vua còn xây đền miếu trên các ngọn đồi, bổ nhiệm thầy tế lễ trong hàng thường dân chứ không chọn người Lê-vi. 32Giê-rô-bô-am lập một kỳ lễ vào ngày rằm tháng tám như lễ tổ chức tại Giu-đa. Tại Bê-tên vua cũng dâng sinh tế như ông đã làm và lập những thầy tế lễ của các miếu mà vua đã xây. 33Vào dịp này, vua dâng sinh tế trên bàn thờ và dâng hương cho tượng bò con mình làm ở Bê-tên. Vua cũng bổ nhiệm các thầy tế lễ phụ trách các miếu trên đồi.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
