ชนอิสราเอลที่เหลืออยู่
1ถ้าเช่นนั้นข้าพเจ้าขอถามว่าพระเจ้าทรงละทิ้งประชากรของพระองค์แล้วหรือ? เปล่าเลย! ข้าพเจ้าเองก็เป็นชาวอิสราเอล เป็นเชื้อสายของอับราฮัมจากตระกูลเบนยามิน 2พระเจ้าไม่ได้ทรงละทิ้งประชากรของพระองค์ผู้ซึ่งทรงเลือกไว้ล่วงหน้าแล้ว ท่านไม่รู้พระคัมภีร์ตอนที่กล่าวถึงเอลียาห์หรือที่เขาร้องเรียนต่อพระเจ้าเกี่ยวกับอิสราเอลว่า 3“พระองค์เจ้าข้า เขาทั้งหลายสังหารเหล่าผู้เผยพระวจนะของพระองค์ รื้อแท่นบูชาของพระองค์ลง เหลือข้าพระองค์เพียงคนเดียวและพวกเขากำลังพยายามฆ่าข้าพระองค์” ▼? 4และพระเจ้าตรัสตอบเขาว่าอย่างไร? “เราได้สงวนคนไว้สำหรับเราเจ็ดพันคนซึ่งไม่ได้คุกเข่ากราบไหว้พระบาอัล” b 5เช่นนั้นแหละ ในปัจจุบันนี้ก็ยังมีคนที่เหลืออยู่ซึ่งทรงเลือกสรรไว้โดยพระคุณ 6และถ้าทรงเลือกโดยพระคุณย่อมไม่ใช่โดยการประพฤติอีกต่อไป เพราะถ้าโดยการประพฤติ พระคุณจะไม่ใช่พระคุณอีกต่อไป ▼▼สำเนาต้นฉบับบางสำเนาว่าโดยพระคุณ แต่ถ้าโดยการประพฤติ ย่อมไม่ใช่โดยพระคุณอีกต่อไป เพราะถ้าโดยพระคุณ การประพฤติก็จะย่อมไม่เป็นการประพฤติอีกต่อไป
7แล้วเป็นอย่างไร? อิสราเอลไม่ได้สิ่งที่เขาขวนขวายหา แต่ผู้ที่ทรงเลือกกลับได้รับ คนอื่นๆ นอกจากนั้นถูกทำให้มีใจแข็งกระด้าง 8ตามที่มีเขียนไว้ว่า
“พระเจ้าทรงให้เขามีจิตใจที่มึนชา
มีตาที่ไม่อาจมองเห็น
และหูที่ไม่อาจได้ยิน
จนถึงทุกวันนี้” ▼
9และดาวิดตรัสว่า
“ขอให้สำรับของพวกเขากลายเป็นบ่วงแร้วและเป็นกับดัก
เป็นหินสะดุดและเป็นการลงโทษสำหรับพวกเขา
10ขอให้ดวงตาของพวกเขามืดมัวไป พวกเขาจะได้มองไม่เห็น
และขอให้หลังของพวกเขาค้อมลงตลอดไป” ▼

11ข้าพเจ้าถามอีกว่าพวกเขาสะดุดล้มจนลุกไม่ขึ้นหรือ? ไม่ใช่เลย! แต่เพราะการล่วงละเมิดของเขา ความรอดจึงมาถึงคนต่างชาติเพื่อให้อิสราเอลอิจฉา 12แต่ถ้าการล่วงละเมิดของเขาหมายถึงความไพบูลย์สำหรับโลก และการสูญเสียของเขาหมายถึงความไพบูลย์สำหรับคนต่างชาติแล้ว ความบริบูรณ์ของเขาจะยิ่งนำความไพบูลย์มาให้มากมายเพียงใด!13ข้าพเจ้ากำลังพูดกับพวกท่านซึ่งเป็นคนต่างชาติ และในฐานะอัครทูตมายังคนต่างชาติ ข้าพเจ้าให้ความสำคัญกับพันธกิจของตน 14โดยหวังว่าข้าพเจ้าอาจจะกระตุ้นพี่น้องร่วมชาติให้เกิดความอิจฉาและช่วยพวกเขาบางคนให้รอดได้ 15เพราะถ้าการที่พระเจ้าทรงละทิ้งพวกเขา เป็นเหตุให้โลกกลับคืนดีกับพระองค์แล้ว การที่พระองค์ทรงรับพวกเขากลับมาอีกนั้น จะเป็นอะไรนอกจากการมีชีวิตเป็นขึ้นจากตาย? 16ถ้าแป้งส่วนที่ถวายเป็นผลแรกนั้นบริสุทธิ์ แป้งทั้งก้อนย่อมบริสุทธิ์ ถ้ารากบริสุทธิ์ กิ่งทั้งหลายย่อมบริสุทธิ์ด้วย
17หากบางกิ่งถูกหักออกไป และแม้ท่านจะเป็นหน่อมะกอกป่า ก็ถูกนำมาต่อเข้าท่ามกลางกิ่งอื่นๆ และบัดนี้ได้รับน้ำหล่อเลี้ยงจากรากมะกอก 18ก็อย่าโอ้อวดข่มกิ่งเหล่านั้น ถ้าท่านโอ้อวด จงระลึกเถิดว่า ท่านไม่ได้ค้ำชูราก แต่รากค้ำชูท่าน 19แล้วท่านอาจจะพูดว่า “กิ่งพวกนั้นถูกหักออกเพื่อจะได้นำเรามาต่อกิ่งเข้าไป” 20ก็จริงอยู่ แต่ที่พวกเขาถูกหักออกไปเพราะไม่เชื่อ ส่วนท่านอยู่ได้ก็เพราะความเชื่อ อย่าหยิ่งผยองเลย แต่จงเกรงกลัว 21เพราะถ้าพระเจ้ายังไม่ทรงละเว้นกิ่งเดิมไว้ พระองค์จะไม่ทรงละเว้นท่านไว้เช่นกัน
22ฉะนั้นจงพิจารณาทั้งความกรุณาและความเข้มงวดของพระเจ้าคือ ทรงเข้มงวดกับพวกนั้นที่ล้มไป แต่ทรงกรุณาท่านก็ต่อเมื่อท่านคงอยู่ในความกรุณาของพระองค์ มิฉะนั้นท่านก็จะถูกตัดออกด้วย 23และถ้าพวกเขาไม่ดื้อรั้นอยู่ในความไม่เชื่อ ก็จะทรงนำพวกเขามาต่อกิ่งเข้าไป เพราะว่าพระเจ้าทรงสามารถนำพวกเขามาต่อกิ่งเข้าอีกได้ 24ในที่สุดถ้าท่านถูกตัดจากต้นซึ่งตามธรรมชาติเป็นมะกอกป่า และนำมาต่อกิ่งเข้ากับต้นมะกอกสวนซึ่งเป็นการขัดกับธรรมชาติ จะง่ายยิ่งกว่านั้นสักเท่าใดที่จะนำกิ่งต่างๆ ตามธรรมชาติมาต่อเข้ากับต้นเดิมของมันเอง!

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
