พระเยซูทรงล้างเท้าให้เหล่าสาวก
1เมื่อจวนจะถึงเทศกาลปัสกาพระเยซูทรงทราบว่าถึงเวลาแล้วที่พระองค์จะทรงจากโลกนี้ไปหาพระบิดา เนื่องจากพระองค์ทรงรักคนของพระองค์ที่อยู่ในโลกนี้ บัดนี้พระองค์จึงทรงสำแดงที่สุดแห่งความรักของพระองค์แก่พวกเขา ▼▼หรือพระองค์ทรงรักเขาจนถึงที่สุด

6เมื่อมาถึงซีโมนเปโตร เขาทูลว่า “พระองค์เจ้า พระองค์จะทรงล้างเท้าของข้าพระองค์หรือ?”
7พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า “ขณะนี้ท่านไม่เข้าใจในสิ่งที่เรากำลังทำอยู่ แต่ภายหลังท่านจะเข้าใจ”
8เปโตรทูลว่า “ไม่ พระองค์จะทรงล้างเท้าข้าพระองค์ไม่ได้”
พระเยซูตรัสว่า “ถ้าเราไม่ล้างให้ท่าน ท่านจะไม่มีส่วนในเรา”
9ซีโมนเปโตรทูลตอบว่า “พระองค์เจ้าข้า ถ้าเช่นนั้นไม่เพียงเท้าของข้าพระองค์แต่ทั้งมือกับศีรษะของข้าพระองค์ด้วย!”
10พระเยซูจึงตรัสตอบว่า “ผู้ที่อาบน้ำแล้วล้างแต่เท้าก็พอเพราะทั้งกายสะอาดอยู่แล้ว ท่านทั้งหลายก็สะอาดถึงแม้ว่าไม่ทุกคน” 11เพราะพระองค์ทรงทราบว่าใครจะทรยศพระองค์จึงตรัสว่าไม่ใช่ทุกคนที่สะอาด
12เมื่อทรงล้างเท้าพวกเขาเสร็จแล้วก็ทรงฉลองพระองค์แล้วกลับไปประทับยังที่ของพระองค์และตรัสถามเขาทั้งหลายว่า “พวกท่านเข้าใจสิ่งที่เราได้ทำให้พวกท่านหรือไม่? 13พวกท่านเรียกเราว่า ‘พระอาจารย์’ และ ‘องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า’ ซึ่งถูกต้องแล้วเพราะเราเป็นเช่นนั้น 14ในเมื่อเราผู้เป็นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าและเป็นพระอาจารย์ของท่านยังล้างเท้าให้พวกท่าน พวกท่านก็ควรล้างเท้าให้กันและกันด้วย 15เราได้วางแบบอย่างไว้เพื่อพวกท่านจะทำเหมือนที่เราได้ทำเพื่อพวกท่าน 16เราบอกความจริงแก่พวกท่านว่าบ่าวย่อมไม่เหนือกว่านายของตน ทั้งผู้ส่งข่าวย่อมไม่เหนือกว่าผู้ที่ส่งเขาไป 17ในเมื่อพวกท่านทราบสิ่งเหล่านี้ หากพวกท่านปฏิบัติตามพวกท่านก็จะเป็นสุข

18“เราไม่ได้หมายถึงทุกคนในพวกท่าน เรารู้จักบรรดาผู้ที่เราเลือกสรร แต่ทั้งนี้เพื่อให้เป็นไปตามพระคัมภีร์ที่ว่า ‘ผู้ที่รับประทานอาหารร่วมกับเรา ยังได้ทรยศหักหลังเรา ▼▼หรือยังได้ยกส้นเท้าใส่เรา
’ c 19“เดี๋ยวนี้เรากำลังบอกพวกท่านก่อนที่สิ่งนี้จะเกิดขึ้น เพื่อเมื่อสิ่งนี้เกิดขึ้นพวกท่านจะได้เชื่อว่าเราคือผู้นั้น 20เราบอกความจริงแก่พวกท่านว่า ผู้ใดรับคนที่เราส่งไปก็รับเราและผู้ที่รับเราก็รับพระองค์ผู้ทรงส่งเรามา”
21เมื่อพระเยซูตรัสดังนี้แล้วก็ทรงทุกข์พระทัยและตรัสยืนยันว่า “เราบอกความจริงแก่พวกท่านว่าคนหนึ่งในพวกท่านจะทรยศเรา”
22เหล่าสาวกจ้องมองกัน ไม่รู้ว่าพระองค์ทรงหมายถึงคนใดในพวกเขา 23สาวกที่พระเยซูทรงรักกำลังนั่งเอนกายรับประทานอาหารถัดจากพระองค์ 24ซีโมนเปโตรพยักหน้าบอกสาวกผู้นี้และกล่าวว่า “จงทูลถามพระองค์ว่าทรงหมายถึงคนไหน”
25ขณะเอนกายพิงพระเยซูอยู่ เขาหันหน้าไปถึงอกของพระเยซูและทูลถามพระองค์ว่า “พระองค์เจ้าข้า คนนั้นคือใคร?”
26พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า “คือคนที่เราจะหยิบขนมปังชิ้นนี้จุ่มแล้วส่งให้” แล้วทรงหยิบขนมปังชิ้นหนึ่งจุ่มและส่งให้แก่ยูดาสบุตรของซีโมนอิสคาริโอท 27ทันทีที่ยูดาสรับขนมปังนั้นซาตานก็เข้าครอบงำเขา
พระเยซูตรัสบอกเขาว่า “ท่านกำลังจะทำอะไรก็ไปทำโดยเร็ว” 28แต่ไม่มีสักคนที่ร่วมโต๊ะเสวยเข้าใจว่าทำไมพระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาเช่นนี้ 29เนื่องจากยูดาสเป็นคนถือเงินบางคนจึงคิดว่าพระเยซูทรงบอกให้เขาไปซื้อของจำเป็นสำหรับงานฉลองเทศกาล หรือไม่ก็ให้ทานแก่คนยากจน 30เมื่อยูดาสรับขนมปังชิ้นนั้นแล้วเขาก็ออกไปทันที ขณะนั้นเป็นเวลากลางคืน
พระเยซูทรงทำนายว่าเปโตรจะปฏิเสธพระองค์

31เมื่อเขาไปแล้ว พระเยซูตรัสว่า “บัดนี้บุตรมนุษย์ได้รับเกียรติสิริแล้ว และพระเจ้าทรงได้รับเกียรติสิริเพราะบุตรมนุษย์ด้วย 32ถ้าพระเจ้าทรงได้รับเกียรติสิริเพราะบุตรมนุษย์ ▼▼สำเนาต้นฉบับเก่าแก่หลายสำเนาไม่มีข้อความว่าถ้าพระเจ้าทรงได้รับเกียรติสิริเพราะบุตรมนุษย์
พระเจ้าเองก็จะทรงให้บุตรมนุษย์ได้รับเกียรติสิริ และพระองค์จะทรงให้บุตรมนุษย์ได้รับเกียรติสิริในทันที 33“ลูกของเราเอ๋ย เราจะอยู่กับพวกท่านอีกเพียงไม่นาน พวกท่านจะหาเรา แต่เหมือนที่เราได้บอกพวกยิวไว้และจะบอกพวกท่านในเวลานี้ คือที่ซึ่งเราจะไปนั้น พวกท่านไม่สามารถไปได้
34“เราให้บัญญัติใหม่แก่ท่านทั้งหลายคือ จงรักซึ่งกันและกัน พวกท่านต้องรักซึ่งกันและกันเหมือนที่เราได้รักพวกท่าน 35ถ้าพวกท่านรักซึ่งกันและกันคนทั้งปวงจะรู้ว่าพวกท่านเป็นสาวกของเรา”
36ซีโมนเปโตรทูลถามพระองค์ว่า “พระองค์เจ้าข้า พระองค์จะเสด็จไปยังที่ใด?”
พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า “ที่ซึ่งเราจะไปนั้น ในขณะนี้ท่านยังไม่สามารถติดตามไปได้ แต่ท่านจะตามไปในภายหลัง”
37เปโตรทูลถามว่า “พระองค์เจ้าข้า ทำไมข้าพระองค์จึงไม่สามารถติดตามพระองค์ไปในเวลานี้ได้? ข้าพระองค์ยอมพลีชีวิตเพื่อพระองค์”
38พระเยซูจึงตรัสตอบว่า “ท่านจะพลีชีวิตเพื่อเราจริงหรือ? เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ก่อนไก่ขันท่านจะปฏิเสธเราถึงสามครั้ง!

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
