เยเรมีย์ถูกทิ้งไว้ในบ่อ
1ฝ่ายเชฟาทิยาห์บุตรมัทธาน เกดาลิยาห์บุตรปาชเฮอร์ เยฮูคัล ▼▼ภาษาฮีบรูว่ายูคัลเป็นอีกรูปหนึ่งของเยฮูคัล
บุตรเชเลมิยาห์ และปาชเฮอร์บุตรมัลคียาห์ ได้ยินถ้อยคำที่เยเรมีย์กล่าวแก่ประชากรทั้งปวงว่า 2“องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า ‘ใครก็ตามที่ยังคงอยู่ในเยรูซาเล็มจะตายเพราะสงคราม การกันดารอาหาร และโรคระบาด แต่ใครก็ตามที่ยอมแพ้แก่ชาวบาบิโลน ▼▼หรือชาวเคลเดียเช่นเดียวกับข้อ 18,19 และ 23
จะรอดชีวิต เขาจะมีชีวิตอยู่’ 3องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสว่า ‘เราจะยกเมืองนี้ให้กองทัพของกษัตริย์บาบิโลนอย่างแน่นอนและเขาจะยึดเมืองได้’ ” 4ขุนนางเหล่านี้ก็มาทูลกษัตริย์ว่า “ชายคนนี้สมควรตาย เขาพูดทำลายขวัญของทหารซึ่งยังเหลืออยู่ในกรุงนี้ตลอดจนประชาชนทั้งปวง ชายคนนี้ไม่ได้คิดถึงประโยชน์สุขของประชาชน แต่บ่อนทำลาย”
5เศเดคียาห์ตรัสตอบว่า “เขาอยู่ในมือของเจ้าแล้ว กษัตริย์ไม่อาจทำอะไรที่ขัดพวกเจ้าได้”
6พวกเขาจึงจับตัวเยเรมีย์ ใช้เชือกหย่อนลงในบ่อซึ่งอยู่ในลานทหารรักษาพระองค์ เป็นบ่อของมัลคียาห์ซึ่งเป็นโอรสกษัตริย์ บ่อนั้นไม่มีน้ำ มีแต่โคลน เยเรมีย์ก็จมลงในโคลน

คนหนึ่งของราชวังได้ยินว่าเยเรมีย์ถูกหย่อนลงในบ่อ ในขณะที่กษัตริย์ประทับอยู่ที่ประตูเบนยามิน 8เอเบดเมเลคได้ออกจากวังมากราบทูลพระองค์ว่า 9“ข้าแต่กษัตริย์เจ้านายของข้าพเจ้า คนเหล่านี้ทำสิ่งเลวร้ายต่อผู้เผยพระวจนะเยเรมีย์ พวกเขาทิ้งเยเรมีย์ไว้ในบ่อ เขาจะต้องอดตายเมื่อไม่มีขนมปังเหลืออยู่ในกรุงนี้อีก” 10กษัตริย์จึงตรัสสั่งเอเบดเมเลคชาวคูชว่า “ให้นำคนสามสิบคนไปช่วยกันดึงเยเรมีย์ขึ้นมาจากบ่อก่อนที่จะตาย”
11ดังนั้นเอเบดเมเลคก็นำคนไปยังห้องหนึ่งใต้คลังของพระราชวัง เอาผ้าขี้ริ้วและเสื้อผ้าที่ไม่ใช้แล้วมาจากที่นั่น และผูกเชือกหย่อนลงไปให้เยเรมีย์ในบ่อ 12เอเบดเมเลคบอกเยเรมีย์ว่า “เอาผ้าขี้ริ้วกับเสื้อผ้าเก่านี้รองใต้รักแร้กันเชือกบาด” เยเรมีย์ก็ทำตาม 13แล้วพวกเขาก็ดึงเยเรมีย์ขึ้นมา และพากลับไปที่ลานทหารรักษาพระองค์ เขาก็ถูกคุมตัวไว้ที่นั่น

14ต่อมากษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์ให้คนไปนำตัวผู้เผยพระวจนะเยเรมีย์มาเข้าเฝ้าตรงประตูที่สามของพระวิหารขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า กษัตริย์ตรัสว่า “เราอยากถามอะไรเจ้า อย่าปิดบังสิ่งใดจากเราเลย”15เยเรมีย์ทูลว่า “หากข้าพระบาทตอบฝ่าพระบาท ฝ่าพระบาทจะไม่ฆ่าข้าพระบาทหรือ? ถึงแม้ข้าพระบาทให้คำปรึกษาหารือ ฝ่าพระบาทก็จะไม่ฟังข้าพระบาท”
16แต่กษัตริย์เศเดคียาห์ก็สาบานเป็นการลับกับเยเรมีย์ว่า “องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าผู้ประทานลมหายใจแก่พวกเรานั้นทรงพระชนม์อยู่แน่ฉันใด เราจะไม่ฆ่าเจ้าหรือมอบตัวเจ้าแก่ผู้หมายเอาชีวิตของเจ้าเลยฉันนั้น”
17เยเรมีย์จึงทูลเศเดคียาห์ว่า “พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าผู้ทรงฤทธิ์ พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสว่า ‘หากเจ้ายอมแพ้ทหารของกษัตริย์บาบิโลน ทั้งเจ้ากับครอบครัวจะรอดชีวิตและกรุงนี้จะไม่ถูกเผา 18แต่หากเจ้าไม่ยอมแพ้ทหารของกษัตริย์บาบิโลน กรุงนี้จะถูกมอบแก่ชาวบาบิโลนและพวกเขาจะเผามันทิ้ง ตัวเจ้าเองก็จะไม่รอดจากเงื้อมมือของพวกเขา’”
19เศเดคียาห์ตรัสกับเยเรมีย์ว่า “เรากลัวชาวยิวซึ่งเอาใจออกห่างและไปเข้ากับพวกบาบิโลน ชาวบาบิโลนอาจมอบเราไว้ในมือของคนเหล่านั้น และเขาจะปฏิบัติต่อเราอย่างทารุณ”
20เยเรมีย์ตอบว่า “เขาจะไม่มอบฝ่าพระบาทหรอก จงเชื่อฟังองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าโดยทำตามที่ข้าพระบาททูล แล้วจะเป็นผลดีแก่ฝ่าพระบาทและฝ่าพระบาทจะรอดชีวิต 21แต่หากฝ่าพระบาทไม่ยอมแพ้ องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงสำแดงแก่ข้าพระบาทไว้แล้วดังนี้ 22ผู้หญิงทุกคนที่อยู่ในวังของกษัตริย์ยูดาห์จะถูกนำตัวออกมาให้เจ้านายของกษัตริย์บาบิโลน ผู้หญิงเหล่านั้นจะกล่าวแก่ฝ่าพระบาทว่า
“ ‘เหล่าสหายที่ฝ่าพระบาทไว้เนื้อเชื่อใจ
ก็ลวงฝ่าพระบาทให้หลงและเอาชนะฝ่าพระบาท
เมื่อพระบาทจมลงในโคลน
เหล่าสหายก็ทิ้งฝ่าพระบาทไปหมด’
23“ส่วนมเหสีและโอรสธิดาทั้งปวงของฝ่าพระบาทจะถูกนำออกมาให้ชาวบาบิโลน ฝ่าพระบาทเองจะหนีไม่พ้นเงื้อมมือของพวกเขา แต่จะถูกกษัตริย์บาบิโลนคุมตัวไว้และกรุงนี้จะถูกเผา ▼
▼หรือและฝ่าพระบาทจะเป็นเหตุให้กรุงนี้ถูกเผา
” 24เศเดคียาห์จึงตรัสกับเยเรมีย์ว่า “อย่าแพร่งพรายสิ่งที่เราพูดกันนี้เป็นอันขาด มิฉะนั้นเจ้าอาจต้องตาย 25ถ้าพวกข้าราชการได้ยินว่าเราได้พูดกับท่านและพวกเขามาหาและกล่าวกับท่านว่า ‘จงบอกเราว่าเจ้าพูดอะไรกับกษัตริย์และพระองค์ตรัสอะไรกับเจ้า อย่าปิดบังอะไรเราเลย มิฉะนั้นเราจะฆ่าเจ้า’ 26จงบอกแต่เพียงว่า ‘เราอ้อนวอนกษัตริย์ไม่ให้ส่งเรากลับไปตายที่บ้านของโยนาธาน’ ”
27แล้วบรรดาข้าราชบริพารก็มาไต่ถามเยเรมีย์จริงๆ และเขาก็บอกคนเหล่านั้นตามที่กษัตริย์ตรัสสั่งไว้ทุกอย่าง คนเหล่านั้นจึงไม่ได้พูดอะไรกับเขาอีก เพราะไม่มีใครได้ยินถ้อยคำที่เขากับกษัตริย์สนทนากัน
28และเยเรมีย์ก็ยังคงถูกคุมตัวอยู่ในลานทหารรักษาพระองค์จวบจนวันที่เยรูซาเล็มถูกยึด

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
