10เมื่อเขาเล่าให้ทั้งพ่อและพี่น้องฟัง พ่อตำหนิเขาว่า “ที่เจ้าฝันนั้นหมายความว่าอย่างไร? แม่ของเจ้า ตัวข้า และพี่น้องของเจ้าจะต้องกราบคำนับเจ้าถึงดินอย่างนั้นหรือ?” 11พวกพี่ชายอิจฉาโยเซฟ แต่บิดาของเขาเก็บเรื่องนี้ไว้ในใจ

12วันหนึ่งพี่ๆ ของโยเซฟต้อนฝูงสัตว์ไปเลี้ยงใกล้เมืองเชเคม 13อิสราเอลเรียกโยเซฟมาสั่งว่า “เจ้าก็รู้แล้วว่าพวกพี่ชายของเจ้าออกไปเลี้ยงสัตว์ใกล้เมืองเชเคม มาเถิด เราจะส่งเจ้าไปหาพวกเขา”เขาตอบว่า “ได้ขอรับ”
14ดังนั้นอิสราเอลจึงกล่าวกับโยเซฟว่า “เจ้าจงไปดูว่าพวกพี่ชายของเจ้าและฝูงสัตว์เป็นอย่างไรกันบ้าง แล้วจงกลับมาบอกพ่อ” แล้วอิสราเอลจึงส่งเขาออกจากหุบเขาเฮโบรน
เมื่อโยเซฟมาถึงเมืองเชเคม 15ชายคนหนึ่งสังเกตเห็นเขาวนเวียนอยู่ในท้องทุ่งจึงถามว่า “เจ้ากำลังหาอะไร?”
16เขาตอบว่า “ฉันกำลังหาพวกพี่ชายของฉัน ท่านทราบไหมว่าพวกเขาเลี้ยงสัตว์อยู่ที่ไหน?”
17ชายคนนั้นตอบว่า “พวกเขาไปจากที่นี่แล้ว ข้าได้ยินพวกเขาพูดกันว่า ‘ให้เราไปเมืองโดธานกันเถิด’ ”
โยเซฟจึงตามพวกพี่ชายไปและพบพวกเขาใกล้เมืองโดธาน 18แต่พวกเขาเห็นโยเซฟแต่ไกล และก่อนที่โยเซฟจะมาถึง พวกพี่ชายก็คบคิดกันจะฆ่าโยเซฟ
19พวกพี่ๆ ก็พูดกันว่า “เจ้าคนช่างฝันมานั่นแล้วไง! 20เร็วเข้า ให้เราฆ่ามันและโยนศพมันทิ้งลงไปในบ่อสักบ่อหนึ่ง แล้วบอกว่ามันถูกสัตว์ร้ายขย้ำกินไปแล้ว ทีนี้เราจะได้เห็นกันว่าฝันของมันจะเป็นจริงได้อย่างไร”

28ฉะนั้นเมื่อพวกพ่อค้าชาวมีเดียนมาถึง พวกพี่ๆ จึงดึงโยเซฟขึ้นจากบ่อ แล้วขายโยเซฟให้คนอิชมาเอลไปเป็นเงิน 20 เชเขล ▼

และเขาก็พาโยเซฟไปอียิปต์ 29ฝ่ายรูเบนกลับมาที่บ่อน้ำแล้วไม่พบโยเซฟจึงฉีกเสื้อผ้าของตน 30เขากลับมาหาน้องๆ และพูดว่า “เด็กนั้นไม่อยู่เสียแล้ว! พี่จะทำอย่างไรดี?”
31พวกเขาจึงฆ่าแพะแล้วเอาเสื้อคลุมของโยเซฟจุ่มลงในเลือด 32จากนั้นพวกเขาก็นำเสื้อคลุมที่ประดับประดาอย่างสวยงามตัวนั้นกลับไปให้บิดา และกล่าวว่า “พวกเราพบเสื้อตัวนี้ ขอให้พ่อตรวจดูว่าใช่เสื้อคลุมของลูกชายของพ่อหรือไม่”
33ยาโคบจำเสื้อตัวนี้ได้จึงกล่าวว่า “นี่เป็นเสื้อคลุมของลูกเรา! สัตว์ร้ายได้ขย้ำเขาเสียแล้ว โยเซฟถูกฉีกออกเป็นชิ้นๆ แน่”
34ยาโคบจึงฉีกเสื้อผ้าของตน นุ่งห่มผ้ากระสอบ และคร่ำครวญอาลัยถึงบุตรชายของเขาอยู่หลายวัน 35บุตรชายหญิงทุกคนได้มาปลอบโยนเขา แต่เขาก็ไม่ฟังคำปลอบโยนและกล่าวว่า “อย่าเลย เราจะคร่ำครวญจนกว่าเราจะลงไปหาลูกของเราในแดนคนตาย” ดังนั้นพ่อของโยเซฟก็ร้องไห้อาลัยถึงเขา

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
