เมืองโสโดมและเมืองโกโมราห์ถูกทำลาย
1ทูตสวรรค์ทั้งสองมาถึงเมืองโสโดมตอนพลบค่ำ และโลทนั่งอยู่ที่ประตูเมือง เมื่อโลทเห็นทูตนั้นจึงลุกขึ้นไปต้อนรับ ก้มคำนับจนหน้าจดพื้น 2เขากล่าวว่า “ท่านเจ้าข้า เชิญแวะบ้านของผู้รับใช้ของท่าน ท่านจะได้ล้างเท้าและพักสักคืนหนึ่ง แล้วพรุ่งนี้เช้าจึงค่อยเดินทางต่อไป”ชายทั้งสองตอบว่า “อย่าเลย เราจะค้างที่ลานเมือง”
3แต่โลทรบเร้าหนักเข้าจนในที่สุดทูตทั้งสองจึงได้ไปบ้านพร้อมเขา เขาได้จัดเตรียมอาหารสำหรับทั้งสองโดยปิ้งขนมปังไม่ใส่เชื้อ และพวกเขาก็รับประทาน 4ก่อนที่พวกเขาจะเข้านอน ชายทุกคนจากทุกมุมเมืองโสโดมทั้งหนุ่มทั้งแก่ก็พากันมาล้อมบ้านหลังนั้น 5คนเหล่านั้นตะโกนบอกโลทว่า “พวกผู้ชายที่มาหาเจ้าค่ำวันนี้อยู่ที่ไหน? จงพาพวกเขาออกมาเดี๋ยวนี้ เราจะได้หลับนอนกับพวกเขา”
6โลทจึงออกไปข้างนอก ปิดประตู แล้วพูดกับคนเหล่านั้นว่า 7“อย่าเลยพี่น้อง อย่าทำสิ่งชั่วช้าเช่นนี้เลย 8นี่แน่ะ เรามีลูกสาวสองคน ยังไม่เคยหลับนอนกับผู้ชายเลย เราจะยกให้ท่านทำอะไรก็ได้ตามใจชอบ แต่อย่าทำอะไรกับชายเหล่านี้เลย เพราะเขาได้มาพักอยู่ใต้ชายคาของเรา ใต้การคุ้มครองของเรา”
9พวกนั้นเอ็ดตะโรว่า “ถอยไปให้พ้น เจ้าหมอนี่มาอยู่ในฐานะคนต่างด้าวแล้วยังจะมาตั้งตัวเป็นตุลาการ! เราจะจัดการกับเจ้าให้ยิ่งกว่าสองคนนั้นเสียอีก” แล้วพวกเขาก็กดดันโลทมากขึ้น และรุกเข้ามาเพื่อจะพังประตู
10แต่ชายทั้งสองที่อยู่ข้างในเอื้อมมือมาดึงโลทกลับเข้าไปในบ้านแล้วปิดประตู 11จากนั้นพวกเขาทำให้บรรดาผู้ชายที่ออกันอยู่ที่ประตูทั้งหนุ่มทั้งแก่นั้นตาพร่ามัว คนเหล่านั้นจึงหาประตูไม่พบ
12ชายทั้งสองกล่าวกับโลทว่า “ท่านมีญาติพี่น้องอื่นอีกบ้างหรือไม่ในเมืองนี้ ไม่ว่าลูกเขย ลูกชาย ลูกสาว หรือคนของท่านที่อยู่ในเมืองนี้? จงพาพวกเขาออกไปจากที่นี่ 13เพราะเราจะทำลายเมืองนี้ เสียงที่ชาวเมืองนี้ฟ้องร้องต่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าดังจนพระองค์ทรงส่งเรามาทำลายเมืองนี้”
14โลทจึงไปบอกบรรดาลูกเขยซึ่งหมั้นหมาย ▼

กับลูกสาวของเขาว่า “เร็วเข้า รีบออกจากที่นี่เถิด เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ากำลังจะทรงทำลายเมืองนี้!” แต่ลูกเขยคิดว่าเขาพูดเล่น 15พอใกล้รุ่ง ทูตเหล่านั้นจึงเร่งรัดโลทว่า “เร็วเข้า! จงพาภรรยาและลูกสาวทั้งสองของเจ้าออกไปจากที่นี่ มิฉะนั้นเมื่อเมืองนี้ถูกลงโทษ เจ้าจะถูกกวาดล้างไปด้วย”
16เมื่อโลทยังรีรออยู่ ทูตเหล่านั้นจึงคว้ามือของเขา ทั้งภรรยาและลูกสาวทั้งสอง แล้วพาออกมานอกเมืองโดยปลอดภัย เพราะองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงเมตตาพวกเขา 17เมื่อออกมาแล้ว ทูตองค์หนึ่งจึงพูดว่า ▼

ได้โปรดเถิด! 19ท่านได้กรุณาผู้รับใช้ของท่าน ท่านได้สำแดงความเมตตาอย่างใหญ่หลวงต่อข้าพเจ้าโดยไว้ชีวิตข้าพเจ้า แต่ข้าพเจ้าไม่สามารถหนีไปถึงภูเขาก่อนที่หายนะนี้จะมาถึงข้าพเจ้า และข้าพเจ้าจะต้องตาย 20ดูเถิด มีเมืองเล็กๆ แห่งหนึ่งใกล้พอที่จะวิ่งไปที่นั่นได้ทัน ให้ข้าพเจ้าหนีไปที่นั่น มันเล็กมากไม่ใช่หรือ? แล้วข้าพเจ้าจะรอดชีวิต” 21ทูตนั้นตอบว่า “ก็ได้ เราจะทำตามที่เจ้าร้องขอ เราจะไม่ทำลายเมืองที่เจ้าพูดถึง 22แต่จงรีบหนีไปเพราะเราทำอะไรไม่ได้จนกว่าเจ้าจะไปถึงที่นั่น” (นี่คือเหตุที่เมืองนั้นได้ชื่อว่าโศอาร์ ▼

27เช้าตรู่วันรุ่งขึ้น อับราฮัมลุกขึ้นและกลับไปยังสถานที่ซึ่งเขาเคยยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า 28เขามองลงไปยังเมืองโสโดมและเมืองโกโมราห์และกวาดสายตาไปทั่วดินแดนในที่ราบ เขามองเห็นควันหนาทึบพลุ่งขึ้นจากดินแดนนั้นเหมือนควันที่ออกจากเตาหลอม
29ดังนั้นเมื่อพระเจ้าทรงทำลายเมืองต่างๆ ในที่ราบนั้น พระองค์ทรงระลึกถึงอับราฮัมและทรงนำโลทออกมาจากภัยพิบัติซึ่งทำลายล้างเมืองต่างๆ ที่โลทได้เคยอาศัยอยู่

30โลทกับบุตรสาวทั้งสองของเขาออกจากเมืองโศอาร์ไปตั้งถิ่นฐานที่ภูเขาเพราะไม่กล้าอยู่ที่โศอาร์ พวกเขาไปอาศัยอยู่ในถ้ำ 31วันหนึ่งบุตรสาวคนโตพูดกับน้องสาวว่า “พ่อของเราก็แก่แล้ว ไม่มีผู้ชายคนไหนในแถบนี้ที่จะมาแต่งงานกับเราอย่างที่ใครๆ ทั่วโลกเขาทำกัน 32ให้เรามอมเหล้าพ่อแล้วหลับนอนกับท่าน เพื่อเราจะรักษาเชื้อสายของครอบครัวเราไว้ทางพ่อของเรา”33คืนวันนั้นหญิงทั้งสองจึงมอมเหล้าองุ่นบิดา แล้วบุตรสาวคนโตก็เข้าไปหลับนอนกับบิดา โลทไม่รู้สึกตัวว่าลูกเข้ามานอนด้วยหรือลุกออกไปเมื่อใด
34วันรุ่งขึ้นบุตรสาวคนโตก็พูดกับน้องสาวว่า “เมื่อคืนพี่นอนกับพ่อแล้ว คืนนี้เราจะมอมเหล้าท่านอีก และน้องจงเข้าไปนอนกับพ่อ เพื่อเราจะสามารถรักษาเชื้อสายของครอบครัวเราไว้ทางพ่อของเรา” 35คืนนั้นทั้งสองก็ทำให้บิดาเมามายอีก แล้วบุตรสาวคนเล็กก็เข้าไปนอนกับบิดา ครั้งนี้ก็เช่นกัน โลทไม่รู้สึกตัวเลยว่าลูกได้เข้ามานอนด้วยหรือลุกออกไปเมื่อใด

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
