ดาวิดทรงนับไพร่พล
(2ซมอ.24:1-25)
1ซาตานลุกขึ้นเล่นงานอิสราเอล และดลใจให้ดาวิดทำสำมะโนไพร่พลอิสราเอล 2ดาวิดจึงตรัสกับโยอาบและเหล่าแม่ทัพนายกองว่า “จงไปนับไพร่พลอิสราเอลจากเมืองเบเออร์เชบาจดเมืองดานแล้วกลับมารายงาน เพื่อเราจะรู้ว่ามีคนอยู่เท่าไร”3โยอาบทูลทัดทานว่า “ขอองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงเพิ่มพูนกำลังพลของพระองค์ร้อยเท่า ทั้งหมดก็เป็นคนของฝ่าพระบาทไม่ใช่หรือ? เหตุใดจึงทรงประสงค์ให้ทำเช่นนี้? ควรหรือที่จะนำความผิดมาสู่อิสราเอล?”
4แต่คำบัญชาของกษัตริย์ย่อมมีอำนาจเหนือโยอาบ โยอาบจึงเดินทางไปทั่วดินแดนอิสราเอลแล้วกลับมายังกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม 5โยอาบทูลรายงานดาวิดว่าจำนวนคนที่ออกรบได้ทั่วทั้งอิสราเอลมี 1,100,000 คน และ 470,000 คนในยูดาห์
6แต่โยอาบไม่ได้รวมจำนวนคนเลวีและเบนยามิน เพราะเขารู้สึกว่าคำบัญชานี้น่ารังเกียจ 7คำบัญชานี้ก็เป็นสิ่งที่ชั่วในสายพระเนตรของพระเจ้าด้วย ดังนั้นพระองค์จึงทรงลงโทษอิสราเอล
8ดาวิดกราบทูลพระเจ้าว่า “สิ่งที่ข้าพระองค์ทำนั้นบาปมาก บัดนี้ขอทรงโปรดยกโทษความผิดของผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ ข้าพระองค์ได้ทำสิ่งที่โง่เขลามาก”
9 องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสกับกาดผู้ทำนายของดาวิดว่า 10“จงไปบอกดาวิดว่า ‘องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า เรามีข้อเสนอสามประการ ให้เจ้าเลือกอย่างหนึ่งแล้วเราจะจัดการกับเจ้าตามนั้น’ ”
11กาดจึงเข้าเฝ้าและทูลดาวิดว่า “องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าตรัสดังนี้ว่า ‘จงเลือกเอา 12ระหว่างการกันดารอาหารสามปี หรือถูกดาบของศัตรูของเจ้าล้างผลาญสามเดือน ▼
▼ฉบับ LXX. และ Vulg. ว่าเตลิดหนีจากการไล่ล่าฆ่าฟันของศัตรูสามเดือน(ดู2ซมอ.24:13)
หรือถูกลงโทษด้วยดาบขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าสามวันคือ โรคระบาดร้ายแรงซึ่งทูตขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจะนำหายนะมาสู่อิสราเอลทุกหย่อมหญ้า’ ดังนั้นขอทรงแจ้งคำตอบเพื่อข้าพระบาทจะนำไปทูลพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้ข้าพระบาทมา” 13ดาวิดตรัสตอบกาดว่า “เราลำบากใจมาก แต่ขอตกอยู่ในอุ้งพระหัตถ์ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าดีกว่าตกอยู่ในเงื้อมมือของมนุษย์ เพราะพระเมตตาคุณของพระองค์ใหญ่หลวงนัก”
14ฉะนั้นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงให้เกิดโรคระบาดในอิสราเอล เป็นผลให้มีคนล้มตายเจ็ดหมื่นคน 15ในช่วงโรคระบาด พระเจ้าทรงใช้ทูตสวรรค์องค์หนึ่งมาทำลายล้างกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม แต่ขณะนั้นองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทอดพระเนตรแล้วทรงทุกข์พระทัยเนื่องด้วยภัยพิบัตินั้น จึงตรัสแก่ทูตผู้ทำลายว่า “พอแล้ว! ยั้งมือเถิด” ขณะนั้นทูตขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ากำลังยืนอยู่ที่ลานนวดข้าวของอาราวนาห์ ▼

ชาวเยบุส 16เมื่อดาวิดทอดพระเนตรเห็นทูตขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ายืนอยู่ระหว่างฟ้าสวรรค์กับแผ่นดินโลก และถือดาบอยู่เหนือกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ดาวิดกับบรรดาผู้อาวุโสซึ่งสวมผ้ากระสอบอยู่จึงหมอบกราบซบหน้าลงกับพื้น
17ดาวิดกราบทูลพระเจ้าว่า “ข้าพระองค์ไม่ใช่หรือที่สั่งให้นับจำนวนไพร่พล ข้าพระองค์คือผู้ที่ทำผิดทำบาป ประชากรเหล่านี้เป็นแต่เพียงฝูงแกะ พวกเขาทำผิดอันใดเล่า? ข้าแต่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์ ขอทรงลงโทษข้าพระองค์กับครอบครัวเท่านั้นเถิด แต่อย่าให้ภัยพิบัตินี้ยังคงอยู่กับประชากรของพระองค์เลย”
18ทูตขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าจึงสั่งกาดให้ไปแจ้งดาวิดให้ขึ้นไปสร้างแท่นบูชาถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าที่ลานนวดข้าวของอาราวนาห์ชาวเยบุส 19ดาวิดจึงไปปฏิบัติตามพระดำรัสซึ่งกาดได้กล่าวไว้ในพระนามของพระยาห์เวห์
20ขณะอาราวนาห์กำลังนวดข้าวสาลีอยู่ เขาเหลียวมาเห็นทูตสวรรค์ บุตรชายสี่คนของเขาที่อยู่ด้วยก็วิ่งหนีไปซ่อนตัว 21แล้วอาราวนาห์เห็นดาวิดเดินเข้ามาหา จึงวิ่งจากลานนวดข้าวมากราบซบหน้าลงถึงดินต่อหน้าดาวิด
22ดาวิดตรัสกับอาราวนาห์ว่า “เราขอซื้อลานนวดข้าวแห่งนี้จากเจ้าเต็มราคา แล้วเราจะสร้างแท่นบูชาถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระองค์จะได้ทรงระงับโรคระบาดครั้งนี้”
23อาราวนาห์ทูลดาวิดว่า “ข้าแต่องค์กษัตริย์ ขอฝ่าพระบาททรงรับไปเถิด จะใช้ทำสิ่งใดก็ตามแต่จะโปรด ขอทรงรับวัวไปเป็นเครื่องเผาบูชา เลื่อนนวดข้าวสามารถใช้เป็นฟืน และข้าวสาลีสำหรับเป็นเครื่องธัญบูชา ข้าพระบาทขอถวายทั้งหมดนี้”
24แต่กษัตริย์ดาวิดตรัสตอบอาราวนาห์ว่า “เรายืนยันที่จะซื้อเต็มราคา เราไม่อาจรับสิ่งที่เป็นของเจ้าไปถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า หรือจะถวายเครื่องเผาบูชาโดยไม่ลงทุนอะไรเลย”
25ดาวิดจึงทรงจ่ายทองคำหนักประมาณ 7 กิโลกรัม ▼

ให้แก่อาราวนาห์เป็นค่าที่ดิน 26แล้วดาวิดสร้างแท่นบูชาขึ้นที่นั่นถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า และถวายเครื่องเผาบูชากับเครื่องสันติบูชาด้วย ดาวิดร้องทูลองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงตอบโดยให้ไฟจากฟ้าสวรรค์มาเผาเครื่องบูชาบนแท่นนั้น 27แล้วองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงบัญชาให้ทูตองค์นั้นเก็บดาบเข้าฝัก 28เมื่อดาวิดเห็นว่าองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงตอบคำวิงวอนที่ลานนวดข้าวของอาราวนาห์ชาวเยบุส ก็ทรงถวายเครื่องบูชาที่นั่นอีก 29พลับพลาขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าและแท่นบูชาซึ่งโมเสสได้สร้างขึ้นในถิ่นกันดารยังคงอยู่บนสถานบูชาบนที่สูงในกิเบโอน 30แต่ดาวิดไม่สามารถเสด็จไปทูลถามพระเจ้าที่นั่น เพราะกลัวดาบของทูตขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
