Ang Babaeng Bayaran
1Pagkatapos, lumapit sa akin ang isa sa pitong anghel na may sisidlan at sinabi, “Halika, ipapakita ko sa iyo ang pagpaparusa sa sikat na babaeng bayaran. Ang babaeng ito ay ang malaking lungsod na itinayo malapit sa maraming tubig. 2Nakipagrelasyon sa kanya ang mga hari sa buong mundo sa pamamagitan ng pagsunod sa mga itinuro niya, at ang mga tao naman sa mundo ay parang nalasing sa mga itinuro niyang kasamaan.”3Pagkatapos, napuspos ako ng Banal na Espiritu at dinala ng anghel sa ilang. Nakita ko roon ang isang babaeng nakasakay sa pulang halimaw. Ang halimaw na iyon ay may pitong ulo at sampung sungay. At sa buong katawan ay nakasulat ang mga pangalang lumalapastangan sa Dios. 4Kulay ube at pula ang damit ng babae, at may mga alahas siyang ginto, mamahaling bato, at perlas. May hawak siyang gintong tasa na puno ng kasamaan at karumihan niya dahil sa kanyang sekswal na imoralidad. 5Nakasulat sa noo niya ang pangalang ito na may lihim na kahulugan: “Ang sikat na lungsod ng Babilonia, ang ina ng lahat ng babaeng bayaran ▼

at ng lahat ng kasamaan sa buong mundo.” 6At nakita kong lasing ang babaeng iyon sa dugo ng mga pinabanal ▼▼pinabanal: Tingnan ang “footnote” sa 5:8.

Sasabihin ko sa iyo ang lihim na kahulugan ng babae at ng halimaw na sinasakyan niya, na may pitong ulo at sampung sungay. 8Ang halimaw na nakita mo ay buhay noon, pero patay na ngayon. Pero muli siyang lalabas mula sa kailaliman, at agad namang mapupunta sa walang hanggang kapahamakan. Makikita siya ng mga taong hindi nakasulat ang mga pangalan sa aklat na listahan ng mga taong binigyan ng buhay na walang hanggan. Bago pa man likhain ang mundo, ang pangalan nila ay hindi na nakasulat sa aklat na ito. At kapag nakita nila ang halimaw, mamamangha sila dahil buhay siya noon, at namatay na, ngunit nabuhay na naman.
9“Kailangan dito ang talino upang maintindihan ang kahulugan ng mga ito. Ang pitong ulo ay ang pitong bundok na inuupuan ng babae. Nangangahulugan din ito ng pitong hari. 10Lima sa pitong iyon ay patay na, ang isa ay naghahari pa ngayon, at ang isa ay hindi pa dumarating. Kapag dumating na siya, sandali lang ang paghahari niya. 11Ang halimaw na buhay noon, pero patay na ngayon, ang siyang ikawalong hari. Kabilang din siya sa naunang pitong hari, at hahantong din siya sa kapahamakan.
12“Ang sampung sungay na nakita mo ay ang sampung hari na hindi pa naghahari. Bibigyan sila ng kapangyarihang maghari kasama ang halimaw sa loob lang ng maikling panahon. ▼

13Iisa ang layunin ng sampung haring iyon. At ipapailalim nila ang kapangyarihan at pamamahala nila sa halimaw. ▼▼ipapailalim … sa halimaw: Ang ibig sabihin, tutulungan nila ang halimaw sa pamamagitan ng kanilang kapangyarihan.
14Lalabanan nila ang Tupa ngunit matatalo sila, dahil siya ang Panginoon ng mga panginoon at Hari ng mga hari. Kasama ng Tupa ang mga tapat na tagasunod niya na kanyang tinawag at pinili.” 15Sinabi rin sa akin ng anghel, “Ang tubig na nakita mo na inuupuan ng babaeng bayaran ay ang mga tao sa ibaʼt ibang lahi, bansa at wika. 16Ang sampung sungay at ang halimaw na nakita mo ay mapopoot sa babaeng bayaran. Kukunin nila ang mga ari-arian niya pati na ang suot niyang damit at walang maiiwan sa kanya. Kakainin nila ang kanyang laman at susunugin ang matitira. 17Niloob ng Dios na maisakatuparan ng sampung hari ang kanyang layunin. Kaya mapagkakasunduan nila na ipailalim sa halimaw ang kapangyarihan at pamamahala nila hanggang sa matupad ang sinabi ng Dios.
18“Ang babaeng nakita mo ay ang sikat na lungsod na naghahari sa mga hari sa mundo.”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
