Naligtas sa Kamatayan si Jeremias
1– 2Noong pasimula ng paghahari ni Jehoyakim na anak ni Haring Josia ng Juda, sinabi sa akin ng Panginoon, “Tumayo ka sa bulwagan ng templo ko at magsalita ka sa mga mamamayan ng mga bayan ng Juda na naroon para sumamba. Sabihin mo sa kanila ang lahat ng ipinapasabi ko at huwag mong babawasan. 3Baka sakaling makinig sila sa iyo at tumalikod sa masama nilang pag-uugali. Kapag ginawa nila ito, hindi ko na itutuloy ang kaparusahang pinaplano ko sa kanila dahil sa masasamang ginagawa nila. 4Sabihin mo sa kanila ang ipinasasabi kong ito, ‘Kung hindi kayo maniniwala sa akin at ayaw ninyong sundin ang mga utos na ibinigay ko sa inyo, 5at kung ayaw ninyong maniwala sa sinasabi ng mga lingkod kong propeta na palagi kong sinusugo sa inyo, 6gigibain ko ang templong ito katulad ng ginawa ko sa Shilo. At susumpain ang lungsod na ito ng lahat ng bansa sa buong mundo!’ ”7Narinig ng mga pari, mga propeta, at ng lahat ng tao na nasa templo ng Panginoon ang sinabing ito ni Jeremias. 8Pagkatapos niya itong sabihin, pinalibutan siya ng mga pari, mga propeta at mga tao, at sinabihan, “Dapat kang mamatay! 9Bakit mo sinabi sa pangalan ng Panginoon na ang templong itoʼy gigibain katulad ng Shilo, at ang lungsod na itoʼy magiging mapanglaw at wala nang maninirahan?” Kaya dinakip nila si Jeremias sa templo ng Panginoon.
10Nang marinig ito ng mga pinuno ng Juda, pumunta sila sa templo. Umupo sila sa dinadaanan sa Bagong Pintuan ng templo para humatol. 11Sinabi ng mga pari at mga propeta sa mga pinuno at sa lahat ng naroroon, “Dapat hatulan ng kamatayan ang taong ito dahil nagsalita siya laban sa lungsod na ito. Narinig mismo ninyo ang kanyang sinabi.”
12Sinabi naman ni Jeremias sa lahat ng pinuno at sa lahat ng tao na naroroon, “Isinugo ako ng Panginoon para magsalita ng laban sa templo at sa lungsod na ito katulad ng narinig ninyo. 13Kaya baguhin nʼyo na ang inyong pag-uugali at pamumuhay, at sumunod na kayo sa Panginoon na inyong Dios. Sapagkat kung ito ang gagawin nʼyo, hindi na itutuloy ng Panginoon ang sinabi niyang kapahamakan laban sa inyo. 14At tungkol naman sa akin, wala akong magagawa. Gawin nʼyo sa akin kung ano ang mabuti at matuwid para sa inyo. 15Pero tandaan ninyo ito: kung papatayin ninyo ako, mananagot kayo at ang mga mamamayan sa lungsod na ito dahil sa pagpatay nʼyo sa taong walang kasalanan. Sapagkat totoong sinugo ako ng Panginoon para sabihin sa inyo ang lahat ng narinig nʼyo ngayon.”
16Sinabi ng mga pinuno, at ng mga tao sa mga pari at mga propeta, “Hindi dapat hatulan ng kamatayan ang taong ito dahil nagsasalita siya sa atin sa pangalan ng Panginoon na ating Dios.”
17Pagkatapos, may ilang mga tagapamahala na tumayo sa harap at nagsalita sa mga taong nagtitipon doon, 18“Noong si Hezekia ang hari ng Juda, nagsalita si Micas na taga-Moreshet tungkol sa ipinasasabi ng Panginoon sa lahat ng taga-Juda. Sinabi niya, ‘Sinabi ng Panginoong Makapangyarihan na wawasakin niya ang Zion, ang lungsod ng Jerusalem. Itoʼy matutulad sa inararong bukirin, tambakan ng mga nagibang gusali at magiging kagubatan ang bundok na tinatayuan ng templo.’ 19Pinatay ba siya ni Hezekia o ng sinumang nasa Juda? Hindi! Sa halip, natakot si Hezekia sa Panginoon at lumapit siya sa kanya. Kaya hindi itinuloy ng Panginoon ang sinabi niyang kapahamakan laban sa kanila. Kaya kung papatayin nʼyo si Jeremias, kayo na rin ang magdadala ng kaparusahan sa sarili ninyo.”
20Nang panahon ding iyon, may isa pang nagsalita tungkol sa ipinapasabi ng Panginoon. Siyaʼy si Uria na anak ni Shemaya na taga-Kiriat Jearim. Nagsalita rin siya laban sa lungsod at sa bansang ito katulad ng sinabi ni Jeremias. 21Nang marinig ni Haring Jehoyakim at ng lahat ng pinuno at tagapamahala niya ang sinabi ni Uria, pinagsikapan nilang patayin ito. Pero nalaman ito ni Uria, kaya tumakas siya papuntang Egipto dahil sa takot. 22Ngunit inutusan ni Haring Jehoyakim si Elnatan na anak ni Acbor at ang iba pang mga tao na pumunta sa Egipto. 23Kinuha nila si Uria roon sa Egipto at dinala kay Haring Jehoyakim, at ipinapatay nila ito sa pamamagitan ng espada, at ipinatapon ang bangkay niya sa libingan para sa mga pangkaraniwang tao.
24Pero si Jeremias ay tinulungan ni Ahikam na anak ni Shafan, kaya hindi siya napatay ng mga tao.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
