Pinagsamantalahan si Dina
1Isang araw, umalis si Dina na anak na dalaga nina Jacob at Lea. Binisita niya ang mga dalagang taga-Canaan. 2Nakita siya ni Shekem na anak ni Hamor na Hiveo, na pinuno sa lugar na iyon. Sinunggaban niya si Dina at pinagsamantalahan. 3Pero nahulog ang loob niya kay Dina at nagustuhan niya ito, kaya sinuyo niya ang dalaga. 4Sinabi ni Shekem sa ama niyang si Hamor, “Ama, gawan nʼyo po ng paraan para mapangasawa ko ang dalagang ito.”5Nang malaman ni Jacob na dinungisan ni Shekem ang pagkababae ni Dina, hindi muna siya kumibo dahil naroon pa sa bukid ang mga anak niyang lalaki na nagbabantay ng kanyang mga hayop. 6Pumunta ang ama ni Shekem na si Hamor kay Jacob para makipag-usap.
7Nang mabalitaan ng mga anak ni Jacob ang nangyari, umuwi sila agad mula sa bukid. Sumama ang loob nila at labis na nagalit kay Shekem dahil sa ginawa niyang hindi nararapat, na nagdala ng kahihiyan sa pamilya ni Jacob. ▼

8Pero sinabi ni Hamor sa kanila, “Nabighani ang anak kong si Shekem sa dalaga ninyo, kaya nakikiusap akong payagan ninyong mapangasawa siya ng anak ko. 9At maganda rin na hayaan nating mapangasawa ng mga dalaga ninyo ang mga binata namin at mapangasawa rin ng mga dalaga namin ang mga binata ninyo. 10Maaari kayong manirahang kasama namin kahit saang lugar ninyo gustuhin. Maaari rin kayong magnegosyo kahit saan at magmay-ari ng lupain dito.”
11Nakiusap din si Shekem sa ama at sa mga kapatid ni Dina, “Kung maaari po ay mapangasawa ko si Dina na kapatid ninyo. Ibibigay ko po ang kahit anong hilingin ninyo. 12Kayo po ang bahala kung magkano ang hihilingin ninyo at kung ano ang ireregalo ko para mapangasawa ko ang kapatid ninyo. Babayaran ko po kayo kahit magkano ang hilingin ninyo bastaʼt mapangasawa ko lang po si Dina.”
13Pero dahil sa dinungisan ni Shekem ang pagkababae ni Dina, niloko ng mga anak ni Jacob si Shekem at ang ama nitong si Hamor. 14Sinabi nila, “Hindi kami papayag na makapag-asawa si Dina ng isang taong hindi tuli, dahil nakakahiya iyan para sa amin. 15Papayag lang kami kung ang lahat ng lalaki na taga-rito ay magpapatuli rin kagaya namin. 16Kung magpapatuli kayo, maaari ninyong mapangasawa ang mga dalaga namin at maaari rin kaming makapag-asawa sa mga dalaga ninyo. At maninirahan kami kasama ninyo para maging isang bayan na lang tayo. 17Pero kung hindi kayo papayag, kukunin namin si Dina at aalis kami rito.”
18Nakita nina Hamor at Shekem na mukhang maganda rin ang mungkahing ibinigay ng mga anak ni Jacob. 19Kaya dahil sa malaking pagmamahal ni Shekem kay Dina, hindi na siya nag-aksaya ng panahon para sundin ang mga sinabi ng mga anak ni Jacob. Si Shekem ang lubos na iginagalang sa sambahayan ng kanyang ama. 20Pumunta agad sila sa kanyang ama sa pintuan ng lungsod at nagsalita sa mga lalaki sa kanilang lungsod. 21Sinabi nila, “Palakaibigan ang mga taong ito. Kaya rito na lang natin sila patirahin, at payagan na makapagnegosyo sila kahit saan. Malaki naman ang lupain natin. Maaari tayong makipag-asawa sa mga dalaga nila at makikipag-asawa rin sila sa mga dalaga natin. 22Pero papayag lang sila na manirahan dito kasama natin bilang isang bayan kung papayag ang lahat ng kalalakihan natin na magpatuli kagaya nila. 23Kung dito sila titira, magiging atin din ang lahat ng hayop at ari-arian nila. Kaya pumayag na lang tayo sa mungkahi nila para manirahan sila rito na kasama natin.”
24Pumayag ang lahat ng kalalakihan ng lungsod sa sinabi ni Hamor at ng anak niyang si Shekem. Kaya nagpatuli ang lahat ng kalalakihan nila.
25Pagkalipas ng tatlong araw, habang mahapdi pa ang sugat ng mga lalaki, pumasok sa lungsod ang dalawang anak ni Jacob na sina Simeon at Levi, na mga kapatid ni Dina. Hindi alam ng mga tao roon na masama pala ang pakay nila. May dala silang mga espada at pinagpapatay nila ang lahat ng lalaki. 26Pinatay din nila si Hamor at ang anak niyang si Shekem. Kinuha rin nila si Dina sa bahay ni Shekem, at umalis. 27Pagkatapos, pinasok din ng iba pang anak ni Jacob ang lungsod at kinuha ang mga ari-arian dito. Ginawa nila ito dahil dinungisan ang pagkababae ng kapatid nilang si Dina. 28Kinuha nila ang mga tupa, baka, asno at ang lahat ng ari-arian doon sa lungsod at bukirin. 29Sinamsam nila ang lahat ng kayamanan ng lungsod, pati ang mga ari-arian sa loob ng mga bahay. At binihag nila ang lahat ng babae at bata.
30Ngayon, sinabi ni Jacob kina Simeon at Levi, “Binigyan ninyo ako ng malaking problema. Magkikimkim ng galit sa atin ang mga Cananeo at mga Perezeo sa lupaing ito. Mamamatay tayong lahat kung magkakaisa silang lusubin tayo dahil kaunti lang tayo.”
31Pero sumagot ang dalawa, “Pababayaan lang ba namin na tratuhin ang kapatid namin na parang isang babaeng bayaran?”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
