1Vi ostali pa – kdorkoli že ste – se ne morete izgovoriti ali pa celo opravičiti, čeprav morda mislite, da lahko sodite vse tiste, ki tako počenjajo. Ali ne kritizirate pri drugih tega, kar sami počenjate in s tem pišete sami sebi sodbo? 2Bog bo prav gotovo pravično sodil vse, ki delajo tako. 3Ali mislite, da bo Bog vam pogledal skozi prste, če delate enako kot ti, ki jih obsojate? 4Ali ne razumete, kakšno potrpljenje ima z vami? Ali pa se za to sploh ne menite? Ali ne vidite, da je Bog ves čas čakal s kaznijo, da bi imeli čas zapustiti svoj greh? Njegovo potrpljenje naj bi vas spodbudilo, da se skesate. 5Vi pa se trdovratno upirate temu, da bi spremenili svoje življenje. Sami boste krivi, če vas bo ob dnevu sodbe neusmiljeno zadela Božja jeza. 6Takrat bo namreč Bog vsakega nagradil v skladu s tem, kar je v življenju storil. ▼▼V izvirniku: po njegovih dejanjih.
7Večno življenje bo dal tistim, ki so iskali čast, slavo in nesmrtnost tako, da so potrpežljivo nadaljevali z dobrimi deli; ▼▼Psalm 62,13; Pregovori 24,12.
, 8njegova jeza in kazen pa bo zadela tiste, ki se borijo proti Božji resnici in so namesto nje izbrali pot hudobnosti. 9Težave in trpljenje bodo prišle na vse tiste, ki vztrajajo v svojih grehih, najprej na Jude, potem pa tudi na vse ostale. 10Vsakemu pa, ki dela dobro, bo Bog podaril svojo slavo, čast in svoj mir, ne glede na to ali je ta človek Jud, ali pa je iz kakšnega drugega naroda. 11Pred Bogom so namreč vsi ljudje enaki. 12– 13– 14– 15 ▼

Bog bo kaznoval greh, kjerkoli ga bo našel. Kaznoval bo tiste, ki niso Judje, če grešijo, čeprav nikoli niso imeli zapisanega Božjega zakona, kajti globoko v svojih srcih vedo, kaj je prav in kaj ni; njihova vest jih obtožuje, včasih pa jim potrjuje, da niso krivi. Jude pa bo Bog sodil za njihove grehe, ker imajo zapisan Božji zakon, pa se ne ravnajo po njem. Vedo, kaj je prav, pa tega ne delajo. Nazadnje pa ne bodo rešeni tisti, ki vedo, kaj je treba delati, ampak tisti, ki to tudi delajo. 16Gotovo pride dan, ko bo po Božji zapovedi Jezus Kristus sodil, kar je danes še skrito v ljudeh, njihove najbolj tajne misli in motive. Vse to je del velikega Božjega načrta, ki vam ga oznanjam. Kdo pravzaprav pripada Božjemu ljudstvu?
17Če si Jud, misliš, da je vse v redu med Bogom in teboj, ker ti je dal svoj zakon. Hvališ se s tem, da imaš posebno tesne prijateljske odnose z Bogom. 18Da, dobro veš, kaj Bog želi. Veš, kaj je prav in kaj ni in naklonjen si temu, kar je prav, kajti učili so te Božje zapovedi od rane mladosti. 19Tako dobro poznaš pot k Bogu, da lahko usmeriš slepega. Domišljaš si, da si svetilnik, ki lahko vodi tiste, ki so se izgubili v temi, k Bogu. 20Nevedne želiš poučiti in celo otrokom želiš posredovati znanje o Bogu; saj vendar poznaš Božji zakon, v katerem je znanje in resnica. ▼▼V izvirniku: vzgojitelj nerazumnih, učitelj nedoraslih, ker imaš v postavi utelešenje znanja in resnice.
21Če pa tako lepo znaš učiti druge, zakaj zase ne vzameš nobenega nauka? Na ves glas oznanjaš, da se ne sme krasti, pa sam kradeš? 22Ljudem govoriš, da je prešuštvo greh, pa si sam nezvest svojemu zakoncu? Od drugih zahtevaš, da se ne klanjajo malikom, sam pa ropaš njihova svetišča. 23Tako ponosen si, ker poznaš Božji zakon, pa s tem, ker ne ravnaš po njem, žališ Boga. 24Sicer pa je že v Svetem pismu zapisano: “Zaradi vas ljudstva sramotijo Božje ime.” ▼▼Izaija 52,5.
25Vsekakor je prednost biti Jud ▼▼V izvirniku: Obreza je vedno koristna
in verovati v Boga, če izpolnjuješ tudi njegove zapovedi. Če pa tega ne delaš, nisi nič boljši kot katerikoli človek, ki ni Jud. 26Če pa človek, ki ni Jud, živi v skladu z Božjim zakonom, ali mu ne bo dal Bog vse pravice in časti, ki jih je namenil Judom? ▼▼V izvirniku: Če neobrezanec izpolnjuje pravične predpise postave, se ne bo njegova neobreza štela za obrezo?
27Dejansko bo bolje temu človeku kot tebi, Judu, ki tako mnogo veš o Bogu in imaš njegove obljube, pa ne živiš po njegovem zakonu. ▼▼V izvirniku: In ne obsodi neobrezanec po naravi, tebe.
28To, da so vaši starši Judje ter da so vas obrezali, še ne pomeni, da ste zares Judje. 29Pravi Jud in torej tisti, ki zares pripada Božjemu ljudstvu, je samo človek, ki mu obreza pomeni več kot samo izpolnjevanje mrtvih črk. Šele obreza srca in misli, ki prihaja od Božjega Duha in se vidi tudi na spremenjenem življenju, velja pri Bogu. Za ljudi to morda ne pomeni veliko, Bog pa ceni samo to.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
