1To pismo pošilja Pavel vsem kristjanom v Rimu. Jezus me je poklical, da bi bil njegov glasnik. Njemu služim z vsem svojim življenjem ▼▼V izvirniku: Pavel, hlapec Jezusa Kristusa.
in po njegovem nalogu oznanjam Božje veselo sporočilo. 2V Svetem pismu je Bog to veselo sporočilo že zdavnaj naznanil preko svojih prerokov. Zdaj pa se je to uresničilo. 3To je sporočilo o njegovem Sinu Jezusu Kristusu, našem Gospodu. On se je rodil kot človek in je Davidov potomec. 4Da pa je tudi Božji Sin, s sveto naravo Boga samega, ▼▼V izvirniku: postavljenem za Sina Božjega … po duhu svetosti.
, ki ima vso moč, dokazuje s tem, da je vstal od mrtvih. 5Njegovo naklonjenost, ▼▼V izvirniku: milost.
, ki je polna usmiljenja, sem sam doživel in kot njegov apostol sem dobil nalogo, da med vsemi narodi v njegovem imenu pridobivam ljudi za Boga, da bi verovali vanj in bi mu bili poslušni. 6Tudi vas v Rimu Bog neizmerno ljubi. Jezus Kristus vas je poklical in zdaj ste njegovi otroci – sveto ljudstvo. 7Vse vas pozdravljam ter vam želim milost in mir od Boga, našega Očeta in od našega Gospoda Jezusa Kristusa. Pavel želi spoznati kristjane v Rimu
8Najprej vam želim povedati, da, kamorkoli grem, vsepovsod pripovedujejo ljudje o vas. O vaši veri v Boga vedo ljudje po vsem svetu. Kako sem hvaležen Bogu po Jezusu Kristusu za te novice in za vse vas. 9Bog ve, kako stanovitno molim za vas. Podnevi in ponoči prinašam vaše potrebe v molitvah pred tistega, ki mu služim z vsem, kar sem in kar imam, ▼▼Dobesedno: v duhu.
ko oznanjujem sporočilo o rešitvi po njegovem Sinu. 10Bog ve, da vedno znova molim tudi za to, da bi končno že lahko prišel k vam, če je njegova volja. 11Zelo rad bi vas namreč osebno spoznal in utrdil vašo vero s tem, da bi vam posredoval, kar mi je podaril Božji Duh. 12Vi pa bi ohrabrili mene, tako da bi vsi našli v skupni veri tolažbo in zaupanje. 13Sploh si ne morete misliti, dragi bratje, kolikokrat sem že hotel priti k vam. Doslej to ni bilo mogoče. Zelo rad bi pridobival ljudi za Kristusa tudi pri vas kakor tudi med ostalimi ljudstvi; 14čutim se dolžnega vsem, tistim z visoko kulturo in preprostemu narodu, izobraženim in neizobraženim. 15Zato sem pripravljen priti tudi k vam v Rim in oznanjati Božjo radostno novico. Kako moremo obstati pred Bogom
16Ne sramujem se radostnega sporočila o Kristusu, ki ga oznanjam. To sporočilo je namreč neizmerna Božja moč. Kdor mu veruje, bo doživel, da ga bo Bog rešil in osvobodil greha. ▼▼Dobesedno: Božja moč za rešitev vsakemu, ki veruje.
V začetku je to sporočilo veljalo samo za Jude, zdaj pa na enak način poziva Bog k sebi tudi vse druge ljudi. 17Ono namreč jasno in razumljivo govori o tem, kdo lahko obstane pred Bogom: vsak, kdor se zanaša na to, kar je Bog storil zanj ter se tega trdno drži. To piše namreč že v Svetem pismu: “Človek, ki je na osnovi svoje vere pred Bogom opravičen, bo živel.” ▼▼V izvirniku: Pravični bo živel iz vere. (Habakuk 2,4).
Božja sodba pride nad vse, ki hočejo živeti brez njega
18Božja sveta jeza preti vsem grešnim, hudobnim ljudem, ki s svojo hudobnostjo ovirajo, da bi ljudje spoznali resnico. 19To namreč, kar moremo vedeti o Bogu, je njim poznano, kajti on sam jim je to razodel. 20Bog je sicer neviden, vendar ljudje že od nekdaj lahko vidijo in doživijo njegovo božansko moč in veličino v njegovih delih in v vsem tem, kar je ustvaril. Zato se nihče ne more izgovarjati, češ da nič ni vedel o Bogu. 21Da, poznali so ga tako, kot je treba, vendar tega niso hoteli priznati, niso ga hoteli častiti, še manj pa se mu zahvaljevati za njegovo vsakodnevno skrb. Nazadnje pa so si začeli sami izmišljati, kako naj bi Bog izgledal in kako naj bi mu služili. Posledica tega je bila, da se jim je um zamračil in zmedel. 22Menili so, da so posebno pametni brez Boga, pa so namesto tega postali največji nespametneži. 23Niso častili večnega, vzvišenega Boga, ampak so vzeli kamen in les ter si naredili malike, izklesali so jih v obliki ptic, četveronogih živali, plazilcev in smrtnih ljudi.24Zato jih je Bog prepustil njihovim nagonom in strastem, tako da so počeli, kar so hoteli – onečaščali so celo telesa drug drugega. 25Namesto da bi verjeli resnico o Bogu, so se prostovoljno odločili, da bodo raje verjeli laži. Častili in služili so stvarem, ki jih je Bog ustvaril, namesto Stvarniku samemu. Toda na vse veke pripada vsa čast in slava edinole njemu!
26Ker so ljudje teptali Božjo resnico s svojimi nogami, je Bog dovolil, da so postali sužnji nagnusnih strasti: žene so imele ljubezenska razmerja z ženskami in to brez sramu. 27Prav tako je bilo tudi z moškimi. Namesto da bi imeli naravne spolne odnose z ženskami, kot je predvidel Bog, so se ljubezensko izživljali drug z drugim. Ni čudno, da so občutili kazen za tako početje na svojem telesu.
28Ker se niso držali Božjega spoznanja, je Bog dovolil, da počnejo to, kar so si v svoji hudobnosti izmislili. 29Njihova življenja so bila hudobna in grešna, polna pohlepnosti, sovraštva, zavisti, ubojev, vojskovanja, laži, prevare in obrekovanja. 30O drugih so govorili vse najslabše, Boga so sovražili, predrzno pa so se hvalili s svojo neoporečnostjo. Izmišljali so si vedno nove hudobije. Bili so neposlušni staršem, 31nerazumni, nezvesti, brez ljubezni in neusmiljeni. 32Zavedali so se, da po Božjih zakonih ne zaslužijo nič drugega kot smrt. Pa se kljub temu niso hoteli odvrniti od svojega hudobnega početja, ampak so se še veselili, če so tudi drugi počenjali enako.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
