Pavel se zagovarja
1Zdaj je Agripa dejal Pavlu: “Imaš priložnost, da se sam braniš.” Pavel je dvignil roko in začel: 2“Zelo sem vesel, kralj Agripa, da lahko stojim pred teboj in se zagovarjam v zvezi s tem, česar me dolžijo Judje; 3posebej še zato, ker si dober poznavalec judovskih običajev in učenj. Zato te prosim, da me pazljivo poslušaš.4Od svojih mladih nog sem živel v Jeruzalemu, zato me vsi Judje tam zelo dobro poznajo. 5Če bi le hoteli, bi lahko potrdili, da sem od samega začetka živel v skladu s tem, kar so me učili, kot najstrožji farizej. 6Danes pa se pred sodiščem moram zagovarjati zato, ker verujem v obljube, ki jih je Bog dal našemu ljudstvu. ▼

7Dvanajst izraelskih rodov čaka, da se te obljube izpolnijo, ko dan za dnem služijo Bogu. Pa vendarle, kralj Agripa, me Judje tožijo zaradi tega upanja. 8Zakaj naj bi bilo tako nemogoče, da bi Bog obudil mrtve? 9Sicer sem tudi sam poprej mislil, da se je treba z vsemi sredstvi boriti proti Jezusovemu imenu in nauku. 10To sem v Jeruzalemu tudi delal. Velikega duhovnika sem zaprosil za pooblastilo ter sem mnoge kristjane izročil oblastem, da so jih vrgli v ječo. Ko so jih obsojali na smrt, sem se strinjal s tem. 11V sinagogah sem jih mučil toliko časa, dokler se niso odrekli Kristusa. V svojem neizmernem sovraštvu sem jih iskal in preganjal celo v daljnih mestih in v tujih deželah. 12S tem namenom in po nalogu velikega duhovnika ter z njegovim pooblastilom sem potoval tudi v Damask. 13Nenadoma pa je svetloba obsijala mene kakor tudi moje spremljevalce sredi belega dne, o kralj, svetloba z neba, ki je bila svetlejša od sonca. 14Popadali smo po tleh in slišal sem glas v hebrejskem jeziku, ki je dejal: ‘Savel, Savel, zakaj me preganjaš? S tem da poskušaš raniti mene, zadajaš le rane sebi, kakor vol, ki brca v koničasto palico svojega gospodarja!’ 15Vprašal sem: ‘Gospod, kdo pa si?’ nakar mi je odgovoril: ‘Jaz sem Jezus, ki ga ti preganjaš. 16Zdaj pa vstani, kajti prikazal sem se ti, da bi mi služil. Pripovedoval boš svetu o tem, kar se ti je danes zgodilo ter še o marsičem, kar ti bom pokazal v prihodnosti. 17Varoval te bom, da ti ne bo moglo škodovati tvoje ljudstvo, niti poganska ljudstva, med katere te pošljem. 18Njim boš odprl oči, da bodo spoznali svoje pravo stanje in se spreobrnili ter živeli v Božji luči namesto v satanovi temi. Dobili bodo odpuščanje grehov ter mesto med Božjim ljudstvom – vsi, ki se očistijo po veri vame.’ 19To nalogo, ki mi jo je dal od mrtvih vstali Jezus, sem tudi opravljal, kralj Agripa. 20Najprej sem oznanjal v Damasku in v Jeruzalemu potem pa v Judeji in tudi med ostalimi ljudstvi. Vsepovsod sem govoril ljudem, naj zapustijo greh in se spreobrnejo k Bogu ter potrjujejo s svojimi dobrimi deli, da so storili tako. 21Prav zaradi tega so me prijeli Judje v templju ter me hoteli umoriti. 22Toda Bog me je obvaroval, tako da lahko pred vsemi, pred tistimi, ki imajo oblast in pred preprostim ljudstvom, oznanjam, kar so preroki in Mojzes vnaprej povedali: 23da bo obljubljeni Mesija moral trpeti in kot prvi vstati od mrtvih, da bi Judom kakor tudi poganom prinesel luč.”
24Na tem mestu mu je Fest razburjen vskočil v besedo: “Pavel, ti nisi pameten! Od same učenosti si prišel ob pamet!” 25Pavel pa je odgovoril: “Nisem prišel ob pamet, Fest. Moje besede so resnične in vem, kaj govorim. 26Kralj Agripa ve vse to. Odkrito govorim, ker vem, da mu je vse to poznano, saj se ni zgodilo v kakšnem skritem kotu sveta. 27Ali veruješ prerokom, kralj Agripa? Veruješ jim, dobro vem, da je tako!” 28Zdaj je dejal Agripa: “Misliš, da je res potrebno tako malo, da bi me pregovoril, da postanem kristjan?”
29“Naj bo potrebno malo ali veliko, toda Bog daj,” je odgovoril Pavel, “da ne bi le ti, ampak vsi, ki me danes poslušajo, postali kristjani, prav tako kot sem jaz – le da ne bi bili v verigah!”
30Potem so se dvignili kralj, guverner, Bernika in vsi ostali. 31Zapustili so dvorano in po končnem posvetu enoglasno izjavili: “Ta človek ni storil ničesar, kar bi bilo vredno smrtne kazni, ali za kar naj bi bil v priporu.” 32“Lahko bi ga izpustili na svobodo,” je dejal Agripa Festu, “da se ni sklical na cesarja.”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
