Pavel potuje v Jeruzalem
1Ko smo se s težkim srcem poslovili od starešin v Efezu, je naša ladja odplula naravnost na Kos. Naslednji dan smo prišli do Rodosa nato pa v Pataro. 2Tam smo prestopili na drugo ladjo, ki naj bi plula v Fenikijo. 3Kmalu smo v daljavi zagledali otok Ciper, toda pluli smo mimo njega po južni strani v smeri proti sirskemu pristanišču Tiru, kjer naj bi raztovorili blago. 4V Tiru smo obiskali cerkev in tu smo ostali teden dni. Kristjani so večkrat prosili Pavla, naj ne potuje v Jeruzalem, kot jih je svaril Sveti Duh. 5Toda ob koncu tedna smo vendarle šli na ladjo. Vsa cerkev z ženami in otroki nas je spremljala iz mesta. Na obali smo pokleknili in molili. 6Ko smo se poslovili, smo se vkrcali na ladjo, tisti pa, ki so nas spremljali, so se vrnili v mesto.7Iz Tira smo potem prišli v Ptolemaido. Tudi tu smo obiskali kristjane, vendar smo samo en dan ostali pri njih. 8Iz Ptolemaide smo šli peš naprej do Cezareje. Tu smo stanovali v hiši evangelista Filipa, enega izmed sedmerih diakonov. 9Štiri Filipove hčere so bile neporočene ter so imele preroški dar od Gospoda. 10Ko smo bili že nekaj dni pri Filipu, je prišel Agab iz Judeje. Bil je prerok. 11S Pavlovim pasom si je zvezal roke in noge. Potem je dejal: “Sveti Duh pravi: Prav tako bodo v Jeruzalemu Judje zvezali lastnika tega pasu in ga izročili Rimljanom.” 12Ko smo to slišali, smo vsi skupaj prosili Pavla, naj ne hodi v Jeruzalem. 13On pa je dejal: “Zakaj jokate in mi trgate srce? Nisem pripravljen samo dospeti v ječo v Jeruzalemu, ampak tudi umreti zaradi Gospoda Jezusa.” 14Jasno je bilo, da se ne meni za naše nasvete, zato smo ga nehali prepričevati ter smo dejali: “Naj se zgodi Božja volja!”
Pavel hoče dokazati svojo poslušnost Mojzesovemu zakonu
15Kmalu nato smo odpotovali v Jeruzalem. 16Nekaj bratov iz Cezareje nas je spremljalo. Peljali so nas k Mnazonu, ki je bil po rodu s Cipra ter je bil tudi eden izmed prvih kristjanov. V njegovi hiši naj bi prenočili.17Cerkev v Jeruzalemu nas je prisrčno sprejela. 18Naslednji dan po našem prihodu je šel Pavel k Jakobu; tudi vsi starešine iz cerkve so se zbrali pri njem. 19Pavel je vse pozdravil ter je izčrpno poročal, kaj je Bog storil med pogani. 20Tega so se vsi veselili; slavili so Boga in se mu zahvaljevali. Potem pa so dejali: “Ti veš, dragi brat, da so tisoči Judov sprejeli vero in vsi vztrajajo pri tem, da naj bi judovski verniki še naprej držali judovske tradicije in običaje. 21Judovski kristjani tu v Jeruzalemu pa so slišali, da si ti proti Mojzesovim zakonom in našim judovskim običajem in da prepoveduješ, da bi obrezovali otroke. 22Kaj naj torej zdaj storimo? Vsekakor bodo izvedeli, da si v Jeruzalemu. 23Zato ti svetujemo takole: tu so štirje bratje, ki se pripravljajo, da si obrijejo glave in naredijo določene zaobljube. 24Pridruži se jim in izpolni predpise v zvezi z očiščevanjem. Daj si obriti glavo in plačaj tudi za njih, da jih obrijejo. Tako bodo vsi videli, da glasovi, ki se širijo o tebi, niso resnični ter da neoporečno izpolnjuješ zakon. 25Kako pa naj živijo kristjani, ki niso judovskega porekla, smo določili in jim o tem tudi pisali: ni se jim treba držati judovskih zakonov razen v tem, da ne jedo hrane darovane malikom, ali mesa zadavljenih živali, ki jim ni odtekla kri. Poleg tega naj bi se tudi varovali razvratnega življenja.”
Pavla primejo v templju
26Pavel je pristal na to. Skupaj s temi možmi je naslednji dan odšel v tempelj, da bi se očistil in se zaobljubil, da bo sedem dni pozneje prinesel žrtev skupaj z ostalimi.27Teh sedem dni je skoraj minilo, ko je nekaj Judov iz pokrajine Azije videlo Pavla v templju ter naščuvalo množico proti njemu. Zgrabili so ga in 28kričali: “Izraelci! Pomagajte nam. To je tisti mož, ki po vsem svetu nagovarja naše ljudstvo, naj kršijo judovske zakone. Celo proti templju govori in ga onečašča s tem, da vodi tiste, ki niso Judje, v tempelj.” 29Poprej ta dan so ga namreč videli v mestu skupaj s Trofimom, nekim Grkom iz Efeza, v mestu, pa so mislili, da ga je Pavel peljal s seboj tudi v tempelj. 30Ves Jeruzalem se je vznemiril zaradi teh obtožb. Pavla so vlekli iz templja in brž zaklenili vrata za njim. 31Množica ga je nameravala umoriti. Za to je izvedel poveljnik rimske garnizije. “Vse mesto je na nogah!” so mu sporočili. 32S četo vojakov in z nekaj oficirjev je pohitel v tempelj. Ko je množica zagledala poveljnika in vojake, so spustili Pavla. 33Poveljnik je zapovedal, naj primejo Pavla in ga zvežejo z dvojnimi verigami. Vprašal je razburjeno množico, kdo je Pavel in kaj je storil. 34Toda oni so samo kričali, nekateri eno, drugi drugo, tako da sploh ni mogel ničesar izvedeti. Zato je zapovedal, naj Pavla odpeljejo v trdnjavo. 35Na poti tja je bilo ljudstvo tako nasilno, da so ga vojaki morali nositi, da bi ga zaščitili. 36Kričalo je: “Proč z njim! Umorite ga!”
37Ko so prišli do trdnjave, je Pavel dejal poveljniku: “Ali lahko spregovorim s teboj nekaj besed?” “Ali znaš grško?” ga je poveljnik začuden vprašal. 38“Ali nisi ti tisti Egipčan, ki je pred nekaj leti vodil upor ter odpeljal s seboj v puščavo štiri tisoč oboroženih upornikov?” 39“Ne,” je odgovoril Pavel, “jaz sem Jud iz Tarza, iz precej pomembnega mesta v Kilikiji. Prosim te za dovoljenje, da bi smel spregovoriti tej množici.” 40Poveljnik mu je dal dovoljenje in Pavel je vstopil na stopnico ter dal ljudstvu znak z roko, naj se umiri. Ko so vsi umolknili, jim je začel govoriti po hebrejsko:

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
