Pavel in Sila v Tesalonikih
1Pavel in Sila sta potovala skozi Amfipolo in Apolonijo v Tesalonike. V tem mestu je bila sinagoga. 2Kot po navadi je šel Pavel tja in tri sobote je govoril ljudem, ki so se zbrali. 3Razlagal jim je iz Svetega pisma o tem, da so preroki napovedali Mesijevo trpljenje in vstajenje od mrtvih. “Ta Mesija,” tako je naglašal, “je Jezus, o katerem sem vam pripovedoval.” 4Nekatere Jude je prepričal in ti so se pridružili Pavlu in Sili, prav tako pa tudi precej Grkov, ki so prestopili v judovsko vero in večje število uglednih žena iz mesta. 5Zaradi tega uspeha so Judje postali ljubosumni in zavidni. S pomočjo hudobnih mož s ceste so uprizorili zmedo in povzročili, da se je vznemirilo celo mesto. Potem so odšli pred Jazonovo hišo, kjer sta stanovala Pavel in Sila, vdrli vanjo in hoteli oba privleči pred podivjano množico. 6Apostola nista bila tu, zato so zgrabili Jazona in nekatere druge kristjane ter jih odvlekli pred rimske mestne oblastnike. “Ti ljudje obračajo ves svet na glavo,” so kričali, “zdaj pa so prišli sem 7in se nastanili pri Jazonu. Poleg tega so se dvignili proti cesarju in trdijo, da je nekdo drug kralj, namreč Jezus.” 8– 9Množica in mestni uradniki so se vznemirili zaradi teh vesti in jih niso izpustili, dokler niso plačali odkupnine.Nove težave v Beroji
10Še isto noč so kristjani v Tesalonikih poskrbeli, da sta Pavel in Sila lahko odpotovala v Berojo. Tudi tam sta šla takoj v sinagogo. 11Toda Judje v Beroji so bili bolj sprejemljivi za Božjo besedo kot v Tesaloniki. Pazljivo so poslušali to, kar sta jih Pavel in Sila učila ter so vsak dan preučevali, če je vse to v skladu s svetim pismom. 12Mnogi izmed njih so začeli verovati, pa ne samo Judje, temveč tudi številne ugledne grške žene in možje. 13Kmalu nato so Judje v Tesaloniki izvedeli, da je Pavel tudi v Beroji oznanjal Božjo besedo. Zato so prišli tja in so tudi tukaj naščuvali ljudi proti apostolu Pavlu. 14– 15Toda kristjani iz Beroje so takoj odposlali Pavla iz mesta. Spremljali so ga na poti do obale ter ga pripeljali do Aten. Timotej in Sila pa sta še ostala tam. Vendar naj bi tudi onadva kar najhitreje prišla za njim. Tako je naročil Pavel svojim spremljevalcem, ko so se poslovili od njega v Atenah, da bi se vrnili v Berojo.Pavel v Atenah
16Medtem ko je Pavel v Atenah čakal Silo in Timoteja, se je jezil zaradi mnogih slik in kipov malikov, ki so bili po mestu. 17V sinagogi je govoril Judom in Grkom, ki so prestopili v judovsko vero. Poleg tega je pridigal vsak dan tudi ljudem na trgu, ki so bili prav tedaj tam. 18Ob neki taki priložnosti so se sprli neki filozofi in sicer epikurejci in stoiki. Nekateri izmed njih so menili: “Kaj vendar poskuša povedati ta blebetač?” Drugi pa so dejali: “Izgleda, da oznanja neko novo vero.” Pavel je namreč govoril o Jezusu in njegovem vstajenju. 19Ker so filozofi hoteli slišati kaj več o novi veri, so odpeljali apostola s seboj na Areopag, to pa je bil grič sredi mesta. 20“Vse to, kar slišimo od tebe, je za nas novo in zelo zanimivo,” so pojasnili Pavlu. “Radi bi izvedeli kaj več o tem.” 21Ta prošnja ni bila nenavadna, kajti tako Atenčani kot tudi tujci v tem mestu so hoteli slišati vedno kako novo idejo in razpravljati o njej. 22Potem se je Pavel postavil pred vse tiste, ki so se zbrali na Areopagu in zaklical: “Atenčani! Opazil sem, da ste zelo pobožni; 23ko sem se namreč sprehajal po mestu, sem videl mnoge oltarje. Na enem izmed njih je pisalo: Nepoznanemu Bogu. O tem Bogu, ki ga častite, ne da bi ga poznali, vam jaz pripovedujem.24To je Bog, ki je ustvaril svet in vse, kar je na njem. Ta Gospodar neba in zemlje ne stanuje v templjih, ki so jih ljudje zgradili. 25Prav tako ne potrebuje žrtev, ki jih prinašajo ljudje. On je namreč tisti, ki daje življenje in vse, kar je potrebno za življenje 26ter je ustvaril človeka, iz katerega izhajajo vsa ljudstva na zemlji. Določil je tudi, kako dolgo in kje naj bi živeli. 27Vse to je storil zato, ker želi, da bi ga ljudje iskali ter da bi našli pot k njemu, da bi ga občutili – kajti on ni daleč od nas! 28V njem živimo in se gibljemo in smo. Kot so dejali nekateri izmed vaših pesnikov: ‘Saj smo njegovi otroci!’ ▼

29Če je temu tako, ni prav da si zamišljamo Boga kot malika iz zlata in srebra, ali izklesanega iz kamna. 30Bog razume človekovo nekdanjo nevednost v zvezi s tem, zdaj pa želi, da vsi zapustijo malike in se obrnejo k njemu. 31Določil je namreč dan, ko bo pravično sodil svet; ▼▼Psalm 9,9; 96,13; 98,9.
sodil ga bo s pomočjo človeka, ki ga je sam določil za to. Dokazal pa je to na ta način, da ga je obudil od mrtvih.” 32Ko je Pavel govoril o vstajenju od mrtvih, so se začeli nekateri norčevati, drugi pa so menili: “O tem bi radi pozneje slišali še kaj.” 33Pavel je zdaj zapustil zbrane na Areopagu. 34Nekaj mož, ki je na osnovi Pavlovega oznanjevanja sprejelo vero, je šlo z njim. Med njimi so bili Dionizij, član Areopaga, neka žena, ki ji je bilo ime Damaris in nekateri drugi.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
