Dat houdt in dat de volgende dieren niet mogen worden gegeten: de kameel (hij herkauwt wel, maar heeft geen gespleten hoeven), de klipdas (deze herkauwt ook, maar heeft evenmin gespleten hoeven), de haas (die herkauwt ook, maar heeft ook geen gespleten hoeven), het zwijn (deze heeft wel gespleten hoeven, maar herkauwt niet). Al deze dieren moet u als onrein beschouwen. 8Niemand mag hun vlees eten of hun kadavers aanraken, zij zijn verboden voedsel. 9Wat vis betreft, mag alles worden gegeten wat vinnen en schubben heeft. Het maakt niet uit of ze in de rivier of in zee zijn gevangen. 10Maar alle andere waterdieren zijn streng verboden voor u. 11Niemand mag hun vlees eten en hun kadavers moet u als weerzinwekkend beschouwen. 12Ik herhaal: elk waterdier dat geen vinnen of schubben heeft, is voor u verboden voedsel. 13 ▼▼ This verse is empty because in this translation its contents have been moved to form part of verse 3.Mos. 11:19.

Ieder die hun dode lichamen aanraakt, is tot de avond onrein en moet onmiddellijk zijn kleren wassen. Tot de avond blijft hij onrein. 26Onrein wordt ook ieder die in aanraking komt met dieren die wel gespleten, maar geen geheel doorkloofde hoeven hebben of die niet herkauwen. 27Zoolgangers mogen niet worden gegeten. 28Ieder die hun kadaver aanraakt, zal tot de avond onrein zijn. Hij die het kadaver ook nog oppakt, moet direct zijn kleren wassen en blijft onrein tot de avond. Dit zijn de onreine soorten van de dieren die over de grond kruipen: de mol, de muis en alle soorten padden, de egel, de varaan, de hagedis, de slak en de kameleon. 31Ieder die hun dode lichamen aanraakt, zal tot de avond onrein zijn. 32Elk voorwerp waarop dat dode lichaam valt, elk houten of stoffen voorwerp, elk vel en elke zak, alles wat ermee in aanraking komt, moet in het water worden gelegd en zal tot de avond onrein zijn. Daarna mag het weer worden gebruikt. 33Als zoʼn dier in een stenen pot valt, is de inhoud onrein en moet die pot worden stukgeslagen. 34Als het water waarmee het onreine voorwerp is afgewassen, in aanraking komt met voedsel, is dat ook allemaal onrein. Elke drank die in de onreine pot zit, zal ook onrein zijn. 35Als het lichaam van zoʼn dier in aanraking komt met een stenen oven, is deze onrein en moet hij worden afgebroken. 36Als het lichaam in een bron valt of in een volle waterbak, is dat water niet onrein. Degene die het lichaam eruit haalt, is echter wel onrein. 37Als het dode lichaam in aanraking komt met zaaizaad, zal dat niet onrein zijn. 38Maar als het zaad vochtig is en het lichaam komt ermee in aanraking, dan is het zaad wel onrein. 39Als een dier dat mag worden gegeten, dood gevonden wordt, is ieder die het kadaver aanraakt tot de avond onrein. 40Degene die het vlees eet of het kadaver aanraakt, moet zijn kleren wassen en is onrein tot de avond. 41Kruipende dieren mogen niet worden gegeten. 42Daartoe behoren de reptielen die zich op hun buik voortbewegen en de kruipende dieren met poten. Geen enkel kruipend dier met vier of meer poten mag worden gegeten, want het is onrein. 43Verontreinig uzelf niet met deze dieren, opdat u niet onrein wordt. 44Ik ben de Here, uw God. Heilig u en wees heilig, want Ik ben heilig, daarom moet u óók heilig zijn en mag u zich niet verontreinigen met een van deze kruipende dieren. 45Want Ik ben de Here, die u uit Egypte heeft geleid om uw God te zijn. Daarom moet u heilig zijn, omdat Ik heilig ben. 46Dit zijn de wetten aangaande het vee, de vogels, de waterdieren en de dieren die over de grond kruipen. 47Deze wetten maken het onderscheid duidelijk tussen rein en onrein, tussen wat wel en wat niet mag worden gegeten.’

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
