Job 6
Pas op hoge leeftijd zul je sterven, evenals het koren zul je niet voortijdig worden geoogst.1Uit ervaring weet ik dat dit allemaal waar is. Luister naar mijn raad, het is voor je eigen bestwil!’

Job antwoordt Elifaz
3Job antwoordde:4‘Als mijn zorgen gemeten konden worden en mijn verdriet gewogen kon worden,
5dan zouden zij zwaarder blijken dan het zand van duizend stranden. Daarom sprak ik zo overhaast!
6De Here heeft mij met zijn pijlen neergeschoten, zijn giftige pijlen zijn diep in mijn hart gedrongen. Al Gods rampen zijn op mij losgelaten!

Als wilde ezels balken, is dat omdat zij geen gras meer hebben om te eten, ossen loeien niet als zij genoeg voer hebben, een man klaagt als er geen zout in zijn eten zit. Het witte van een ei is smakeloos, ik weiger het te eten, ik walg van zulk voedsel. 10 ▼

Gunde God mij maar datgene waarnaar ik het meest verlang, te worden verbrijzeld en te worden bevrijd uit zijn pijnlijke greep. 12Dan zou ik toch nog troost vinden, vreugde kennen ondanks deze ondraaglijke pijn, want de woorden van de heilige God heb ik niet verwaarloosd.
13Och, waarom houdt mijn kracht mij nog op de been? Hoe kan ik het geduld opbrengen te wachten op mijn dood?
14Ben ik soms zo sterk als een steen? Is mijn lichaam soms van koper?
15Ik ben echt volkomen hulpeloos en heb geen enkele hoop meer!
16Wie geen medelijden heeft met een vriend die lijdt, toont geen ontzag voor de Almachtige.

Karavanen wijken van hun route af, dringen steeds verder de woestijn in, waar zij uiteindelijk omkomen. Zo hebben de karavanen uit Tema en Seba hoopvol naar water gezocht, maar hun hoop werd beschaamd. En zo is ook mijn vertrouwen in u verdwenen, geschrokken keert u mij de rug toe en weigert u mij te helpen. 24Maar waarom dan? Heb ik u ooit gevraagd mij een geschenk uit uw rijkdom te geven?
25Heb ik ooit uw hulp ingeroepen tegen vijanden en ruziemakers?
26Alles wat ik verlang, is een redelijk antwoord, dan zal ik zwijgen. Vertel mij maar wat ik verkeerd heb gedaan!

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
