3Dit zijn de vroegste generaties van de mensheid: Adam, Set, Enos, 4Kenan, 5Mahalalel, Jered, Henoch, Metuselach, 6Lamech, Noach, Sem, Cham en Jafet. 7De zonen van Jafet waren Gomer, Magog, Madai, Jawan, Tubal, Mesech en Tiras. 8De zonen van Gomer waren Askenaz, Difat en Togarma. 9De zonen van Jawan waren Elisa, Tarsis, de Kittiërs en de Rodanieten. 10De zonen van Cham waren Kus, Misraïm, Put en Kanaän. 11De zonen van Kus waren Seba, Chawila, Sabta, Rama en Sabtecha. De zonen van Rama waren Seba en Dedan. 12Nimrod, die later een beroemde held werd, was ook een zoon van Kus. 13De families die naar de zonen van Misraïm werden genoemd, waren de Ludieten, de Anamieten, de Lehabieten, 14de Naftuchieten, de Patrusieten, de Kashluchieten, de voorvaders van de Filistijnen, en de Kretenzers. 15Onder Kanaäns zonen bevonden zich ook zijn oudste zoon Sidon en Chet. 16Kanaän was tevens de voorvader van de Jebusieten, de Amorieten, de Girgasieten, 17de Chiwwieten, de Arkieten, de Sinieten, 18de Arwadieten, de Semarieten en de Hamatieten. 19De zonen van Sem waren Elam, Assur, Arpachsad, Lud, Aram, Us, Chul, Geter en Mesech. 20Arpachsads zoon was Selach en Selachs zoon was Eber. 21Eber had twee zonen: Peleg, die zo heette omdat tijdens zijn leven de aarde werd verdeeld, en zijn broer Joktan. 22De zonen van Joktan waren Almodad, 23Selef, Chasarmawet, Jerach, Hadoram, 24Uzal, Dikla, Ebal, Abimaël, 25Seba, Ofir, Chawila en Jobab. 26De zoon van Sem was Arpachsad, de zoon van Arpachsad was Selach, 27de zoon van Selach was Eber, 28de zoon van Eber was Peleg, de zoon van Peleg was Reü, de zoon van Reü was Serug, de zoon van Serug was Nachor, 29de zoon van Nachor was Terach, de zoon van Terach was Abram, die later Abraham werd genoemd. 30Abrahams zonen waren Isaak en Ismaël. 31De zonen van Ismaël waren Nebajot, de oudste, Kedar, 32Adbeël, Mibsam, Misma, Duma, Massa, Chadad, Tema, 33Jetur, Nafis en Kedema. 34Abraham kreeg ook zonen van zijn bijvrouw Ketura. Dat waren achtereenvolgens Zimran, Joksan, Medan, Midjan, Jisbak en Suach. Joksans zonen waren Seba en Dedan. 35De zonen van Midjan waren Efa, Efer, Chanoch, Abida en Eldaä. Dit waren de nakomelingen die Abrahams bijvrouw Ketura hem gaf. 36Abrahams zoon Isaak had twee zonen: Esau en Israël. 37De zonen van Esau waren Elifaz, Reüel, Jeüs, Jalam en Korach. 38De zonen van Elifaz waren Teman, Omar, Zefi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna en Amalek. 39De zonen van Reüel waren Nachat, Zerach, Samma en Mizza. 40Tot de zonen van Esau behoorden tevens Lotan, Sobal, Sibon, Ana, Dison, Eser en Disan. Lotans zonen waren: Chori en Homam. 41Lotan had ook nog een zuster, die Timna heette. 42De zonen van Sobal waren Aljan, Manachat, Ebal, Sefi en Onam. Sibons zonen waren Ajja en Ana. 43De zoon van Ana was Dison en deze Dison had de volgende zonen: Chamran, Esban, Jitran en Keran. 44De zonen van Eser waren Bilhan, Zaäwan en Jaäkan. Disan had twee zonen: Us en Aran. 45Hier volgen de namen van de koningen van Edom, die regeerden voordat een koning over Israël regeerde: Bela, de zoon van Beor, die in de stad Dinhaba woonde. 46Na de dood van Bela werd Jobab, de zoon van Zerach uit Bosra, de nieuwe koning. 47Toen Jobab stierf, volgde Chusam uit de streek van de Temanieten, hem op. 48Na diens dood werd Hadad, de zoon van Bedad, koning. Hij regeerde vanuit de stad Awit. Hij was het die het leger van Midjan in de velden van Moab versloeg. 49Na de dood van Hadad besteeg Samla uit Masreka de troon. 50Na Samlaʼs overlijden kwam Saul uit de aan de rivier gelegen stad Rechobot aan de macht. 51Toen Saul stierf, stond Baäl-Chanan, de zoon van Achbor, klaar om hem op te volgen. 52Na de dood van Baäl-Chanan werd Hadad koning en regeerde vanuit de stad Paï. When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
