Isus și Nicodim
1Era un om dintre farisei, pe nume Nicodim, un conducător al iudeilor.2Acesta a venit la Isus noaptea și I-a zis:
‒ Rabbi, știm că de la Dumnezeu ai venit ca învățător, căci nimeni nu poate face aceste semne pe care le faci Tu, dacă nu este Dumnezeu cu el.
3Isus a răspuns și i-a zis:
‒ Adevărat, adevărat îți spun, dacă cineva nu este născut din nou, nu poate vedea Împărăția lui Dumnezeu!
4Nicodim I-a spus:
‒ Cum se poate naște un om, bătrân fiind? Poate el oare să intre a doua oară în pântecul mamei lui și să fie născut?
5Isus a răspuns:
‒ Adevărat, adevărat îți spun, dacă cineva nu este născut din apă și din Duh, nu poate să intre în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu! 6Ce este născut din carne este carne, iar ce este născut din Duh este duh. 7Să nu rămâi uimit că ți-am spus: „Trebuie să fiți născuți din nou!“. 8Vântul ▼
▼O ambiguitate intenționată, deoarece termenul grecesc poate fi tradus atât cu duh, cât și cu vânt. Astfel de jocuri de sens sunt folosite de Ioan pentru a-și capta auditorii greci, pe lângă evrei.

‒ Tu ești învățătorul lui Israel și nu cunoști aceste lucruri? 11Adevărat, adevărat îți spun că noi vorbim ceea ce știm și mărturisim despre ce am văzut, dar voi nu primiți mărturia noastră. 12Dacă v-am vorbit despre lucrurile pământești și nu credeți, cum veți crede dacă vă voi vorbi despre lucrurile cerești? 13Nimeni nu s-a suit în Cer în afară de Cel Care a coborât din Cer, adică de Fiul Omului, Care este în Cer. 14Și, așa cum Moise a înălțat șarpele în deșert, tot așa trebuie să fie înălțat și Fiul Omului, 15pentru ca oricine crede în El să aibă viață veșnică.
16Fiindcă atât de mult a iubit Dumnezeu lumea, încât L-a dat pe singurul Lui Fiu, pentru ca oricine crede în El să nu piară, ci să aibă viață veșnică. 17Căci Dumnezeu nu L-a trimis pe Fiul Său în lume ca să judece lumea, ci ca lumea să fie mântuită prin El. 18Cel ce crede în El nu este judecat; însă cel ce nu crede a și fost judecat, pentru că nu a crezut în Numele singurului Fiu al lui Dumnezeu. 19Și judecata este aceasta: Lumina a venit în lume, dar oamenii au iubit mai mult întunericul decât Lumina, pentru că faptele lor erau rele. 20Căci oricine face fapte rele urăște Lumina și nu vine la Lumină, ca să nu i se dea în vileag faptele. 21Dar cel ce trăiește adevărul vine la Lumină, ca să-i fie dezvăluite faptele, fiindcă sunt înfăptuite în Dumnezeu.
Mărturia lui Ioan Botezătorul despre Isus
22După aceea, Isus și ucenicii Lui au venit în regiunea Iudeei. El stătea acolo cu ei și boteza. 23Ioan boteza și el în Ainon, aproape de Saleim, pentru că acolo erau multe ape, și oamenii continuau să vină și să fie botezați. 24Căci Ioan încă nu fusese aruncat în închisoare. 25Între unii din ucenicii lui Ioan și un iudeu a apărut o controversă cu privire la curățire.26Au venit la Ioan și i-au zis:
‒ Rabbi, iată că Cel Ce era cu tine dincolo de Iordan, Cel despre Care tu ai mărturisit, botează și toți se duc la El!
27Ioan a răspuns și a zis:
‒ Omul nu poate primi decât ceea ce i-a fost dat din Cer. 28Voi înșivă îmi sunteți martori că am zis: „Nu sunt eu Cristosul, ci eu sunt trimis înaintea Aceluia“. 29Cel ce are mireasă este mire. Însă prietenul mirelui, cel care stă și-l aude, se bucură foarte mult de glasul mirelui. Prin urmare, această bucurie a mea este deplină. 30El trebuie să crească, iar eu să mă micșorez.
31Cel Ce vine de sus este deasupra tuturor. Cel ce vine de pe pământ este pământesc și vorbește lucruri de pe pământ. Cel Ce vine din Cer este deasupra tuturor. 32El mărturisește despre ceea ce a văzut și a auzit, dar nimeni nu primește mărturia Lui. 33Cel ce primește mărturia Lui confirmă că Dumnezeu este adevărat. 34Căci Cel pe Care L-a trimis Dumnezeu vorbește cuvintele lui Dumnezeu, pentru că Dumnezeu nu-I dă Duhul cu măsură. 35Tatăl Îl iubește pe Fiul și a dat toate lucrurile în mâna Lui. 36Cel ce crede în Fiul are viața veșnică, dar cel ce nu ascultă de ▼
▼Sensul principal al verbului grecesc este a nu asculta. Ioan evidențiază faptul că ascultarea și credința sunt strâns legate.
Fiul nu va vedea viața, ci mânia lui Dumnezeu rămâne peste el.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
