Preoția lui Melchisedek
1Acest Melchisedek, rege al Salemului, preot al Dumnezeului celui Preaînalt, l-a întâmpinat pe Avraam, când acesta se întorcea de la măcelul regilor, și l-a binecuvântat. 2Melchisedek, căruia Avraam i-a dat zeciuială din toate, este mai întâi, prin semnificația numelui său, „Rege al dreptății“, apoi, de asemenea, „Rege al Salemului“, adică „Rege al păcii“, 3fără tată, fără mamă, fără genealogie, neavând nici început al zilelor, nici sfârșit al vieții și, astfel, fiind asemănat cu Fiul lui Dumnezeu, el rămâne preot pentru totdeauna.4Înțelegeți deci cât de mare a fost acesta, căruia chiar și patriarhul Avraam i-a dat zeciuială din pradă. 5Aceia dintre fiii lui Levi, care primesc preoția, au porunca, potrivit Legii, să colecteze zeciuiala de la popor, adică de la frații lor, cu toate că și ei provin din Avraam. 6Însă Melchisedek, chiar dacă nu aparținea genealogiei lor, totuși a colectat zeciuiala de la Avraam și l-a binecuvântat pe cel ce avea promisiunile. 7Fără nicio îndoială, cel mai mic este binecuvântat de cel mai mare. 8În primul caz, cei ce primesc zeciuielile sunt niște oameni muritori, dar în celălalt caz este cel despre care se mărturisește că este viu. 9Și, într-un fel, chiar Levi, cel care colectează zeciuielile, a dat zeciuială prin Avraam, 10căci el era încă în coapsele strămoșului său, Avraam, când Melchisedek l-a întâmpinat pe acesta.

11Acum, dacă desăvârșirea ar fi fost posibilă prin preoția levitică, căci poporul a primit Legea sub această preoție, ce nevoie mai era să se ridice un alt Preot, numit după modelul preoției lui Melchisedek, și nu după modelul preoției lui Aaron? 12Căci, atunci când se schimbă preoția, în mod necesar are loc și o schimbare a Legii. 13Într-adevăr, Cel despre Care sunt spuse aceste lucruri face parte dintr-o altă seminție, din care nimeni n-a slujit la altar. 14Căci este clar că Domnul nostru provine din Iuda, iar, în legătură cu această seminție, Moise n-a spus nimic cu privire la preoți. 15Acest lucru este chiar mai evident atunci când vedem că Se ridică un alt Preot, după asemănarea lui Melchisedek, 16Unul Care a devenit preot nu pe baza unei porunci legale referitoare la descendența fizică, ci pe baza puterii unei vieți nepieritoare. 17Căci despre El se mărturisește astfel:„Tu ești Preot pe veci,
după modelul preoției lui Melchisedek“ ▼.
18Așadar, pe de o parte, are loc anularea poruncii dintâi, din cauza neputinței și inutilității ei, 19pentru că Legea n-a făcut nimic desăvârșit, iar pe de altă parte, este adusă în loc o speranță mai bună, prin care ne apropiem de Dumnezeu.
20Și lucrul acesta nu s-a făcut fără jurământ. Căci ei au devenit preoți fără să depună un jurământ, 21dar El a devenit Preot prin jurământul Celui Ce I-a spus:
„Domnul a jurat
și nu-I va părea rău:
«Tu ești Preot pe veci,
după modelul preoției lui Melchisedek»“.
22Tocmai de aceea Isus a devenit garantul unui legământ mai bun.
23Într-adevăr, cei ce au devenit preoți au fost mulți la număr, pentru că erau împiedicați de moarte să-și continue lucrarea. 24Dar El, fiindcă rămâne în veci, are o preoție neschimbătoare. 25De aceea El poate să-i mântuiască pe deplin pe cei ce se apropie de Dumnezeu prin El, fiindcă trăiește veșnic ca să mijlocească pentru ei.
26Căci era potrivit să avem un astfel de Mare Preot – sfânt, nevinovat, neîntinat, despărțit de păcătoși și înălțat deasupra cerurilor. 27El nu are nevoie, asemenea celorlalți mari preoți, să aducă în fiecare zi mai întâi jertfe pentru propriile lor păcate și apoi pentru ale poporului, fiindcă El a făcut aceasta o dată pentru totdeauna, atunci când S-a jertfit pe Sine. 28Căci Legea îi desemnează ca mari preoți pe niște oameni supuși slăbiciunii, însă cuvântul jurământului care a venit mai târziu, după Lege, Îl desemnează pe Fiul, Care a fost făcut desăvârșit pe vecie.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
