În Iconia
1În Iconia, ei au intrat în sinagoga iudeilor și au vorbit în așa fel încât o mare mulțime de iudei și de greci au crezut. 2Însă iudeii care au refuzat să creadă, i-au instigat împotriva fraților pe neevrei și le-au înveninat sufletele. 3Totuși, Pavel și Barnabas au mai rămas acolo destul de mult timp, vorbind cu îndrăzneală despre Domnul, Care mărturisea despre Cuvântul harului Său, lăsând să se facă semne și minuni prin mâinile lor. 4Mulțimea din cetate s-a împărțit: unii erau cu iudeii, iar alții erau cu apostolii. 5Neevreii și iudeii, alături de conducătorii lor, s-au înțeles să-i chinuie și să-i omoare cu pietre. 6Dându-și seama de lucrul acesta, Pavel și Barnabas au fugit în cetățile Licaoniei, Listra și Derbe, și în vecinătatea acestora. 7Ei au vestit Evanghelia și acolo.În Listra și Derbe
8În Listra ședea un om neputincios, care nu umblase niciodată, fiind olog încă din pântecul mamei lui. 9El îl asculta pe Pavel în timp ce vorbea. Pavel s-a uitat drept la el și, văzând că are credință ca să fie vindecat, 10i-a zis cu glas tare: „Ridică-te și stai drept în picioare!“. El a sărit în picioare și a început să umble. 11Când au văzut mulțimile ce a făcut Pavel, și-au ridicat glasul, zicând în limba licaoniană: „Zeii au coborât la noi în chip de oameni!“ ▼▼În regiune circula o legendă care spunea că Zeus și Hermes au coborât cândva printre oamenii locului, însă aceștia nu i-au primit în casele lor, așa că au fost pedepsiți. Legenda este redată de poetul roman Ovidiu (vezi Metamorfoze, 8. 611-724).

, pentru că el era cel ce vorbea mulțimilor. 13Preotul lui Zeus, al cărui templu era în fața cetății, a adus boi și ghirlande de flori la porți și, împreună cu mulțimile, voia să le aducă jertfă. 14Când au auzit aceasta, apostolii Barnabas și Pavel și-au sfâșiat hainele și s-au repezit afară, în mijlocul mulțimii, strigând: 15„Oamenilor, de ce faceți aceste lucruri? Și noi suntem oameni obișnuiți, ca și voi! Noi vă vestim Evanghelia ca să vă întoarceți de la aceste lucruri nefolositoare la Dumnezeul cel Viu, Care a făcut cerul, pământul, marea și tot ce este în ele. 16În generațiile trecute, El a lăsat toate națiunile să umble pe propriile lor căi, 17cu toate că nu S-a lăsat fără mărturie în a face bine, dându-vă ploi din cer și anotimpuri roditoare, săturându-vă de hrană și umplându-vă inimile de bucurie“. 18Chiar și cu aceste cuvinte, cu greu au reușit să împiedice mulțimile să le aducă jertfă. 19Niște iudei din Antiohia și din Iconia au venit și au convins mulțimile să li se alăture. Ei au aruncat cu pietre în Pavel și apoi l-au târât afară din cetate, crezând că a murit. 20Însă, când ucenicii s-au strâns în jurul lui, Pavel s-a ridicat și a intrat în cetate. A doua zi a plecat la Derbe împreună cu Barnabas.
Întoarcerea în Antiohia Siriei
21După ce au vestit Evanghelia și în cetatea aceea și au făcut destul de mulți ucenici, s-au întors în Listra, în Iconia și în Antiohia, 22întărind sufletele ucenicilor, îndemnându-i să rămână în credință și spunând că în Împărăția lui Dumnezeu trebuie să intrăm prin multe necazuri. 23Au desemnat prezbiteri în fiecare biserică și, cu rugăciune și post, i-au încredințat Domnului, în Care crezuseră. 24Apoi au trecut prin Pisidia și au venit în Pamfilia. 25Au predicat Cuvântul în Perga, s-au dus în Atalia, 26iar de acolo au plecat pe mare spre Antiohia, locul de unde fuseseră încredințați harului lui Dumnezeu în vederea lucrării pe care o îndepliniseră. 27Când au ajuns, au adunat biserica și le-au istorisit tot ce făcuse Dumnezeu cu ei și cum deschisese El neevreilor ușa credinței. 28Și au rămas mult timp acolo, cu ucenicii.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
