Damai dengan Allah
1 Kita telah dibenarkan di hadapan Allah karena percaya akan janji-janji-Nya. Sekarang kita dapat menikmati damai sejahtera yang sesungguhnya dengan Dia, karena apa yang dilakukan oleh Tuhan Yesus Kristus bagi kita. 2Karena iman kita, Ia telah memberi kita kedudukan yang terhormat seperti sekarang ini dan dengan penuh kepercayaan serta sukacita kita berharap akan berbagi kemuliaan Allah.3Demikian juga kita dapat bersukacita, pada waktu kita mengalami kesulitan dan cobaan, sebab kita tahu hal itu baik bagi kita karena menolong kita belajar bersabar. 4Dan kesabaran menghasilkan suatu watak yang kuat dalam diri kita serta menolong kita supaya senantiasa lebih memercayai Allah setiap kali kita bersabar, sampai akhirnya pengharapan dan iman kita menjadi kuat dan teguh. 5Kalau sudah begitu, apa pun yang terjadi, kita dapat hidup dengan tabah, karena kita tahu bahwa segalanya baik. Kita menyadari betapa besar kasih Allah kepada kita, dan kasih ini kita rasakan dalam segenap diri kita, karena Allah telah memberikan Roh Kudus untuk memenuhi hati kita dengan kasih-Nya.
6Pada saat yang tepat, ketika kita sama sekali tidak berdaya dengan tiada jalan keluar, Kristus datang dan mati untuk kita orang-orang yang berdosa. 7Seandainya kita baik sekalipun, kita tidak dapat mengharapkan seseorang mati untuk kita, walaupun tentunya kemungkinan selalu ada. 8Tetapi Allah menunjukkan kasih-Nya yang besar kepada kita dengan mengutus Kristus supaya mati untuk kita pada waktu kita hidup dalam dosa. 9Semua ini dilakukan-Nya untuk kita dengan darah-Nya, ketika kita masih dalam dosa. Karena itu, betapa banyak lagi yang akan dilakukan-Nya untuk kita, sesudah kita dinyatakan “tidak bersalah”. Sekarang Ia akan menyelamatkan kita dari segala murka Allah yang akan datang. 10Selagi kita masih menjadi musuh-musuh-Nya, kita dikembalikan kepada Allah oleh kematian Anak-Nya. Betapa besar berkat-berkat yang disediakan-Nya bagi kita sekarang sesudah kita menjadi sahabat-Nya, dan Ia hidup di dalam kita!
11Sekarang kita bersukacita dalam hubungan kita yang baru dengan Allah—semata-mata karena apa yang dilakukan Tuhan Yesus Kristus bagi kita. Ia telah menyerahkan nyawa-Nya bagi dosa kita, dan dengan demikian menjadikan kita sahabat Allah.
Adam membawa maut—Kristus membawa kehidupan
12Ketika Adam jatuh ke dalam dosa, maka dosa menjangkiti seluruh umat manusia. Dosanya menyebarkan kematian ke seluruh dunia; dan karena itu, segala sesuatu menjadi tua dan mati, sebab semua telah berdosa. 13(Kita tahu bahwa kematian ini disebabkan oleh dosa Adam.) Meskipun manusia berbuat dosa sejak zaman Adam sampai Musa, pada masa itu Allah tidak menyatakan bahwa mereka bersalah dan harus binasa karena melanggar hukum-hukum-Nya, sebab hukum-hukum itu belum diberikan kepada mereka. Lagipula, Ia belum menyatakan apa yang dikehendaki-Nya supaya dilakukan oleh mereka. 14Jadi, tubuh mereka mati bukan karena dosa mereka sendiri, sebab mereka tidak pernah melanggar perintah Allah dengan makan buah yang terlarang itu, seperti yang dilakukan oleh Adam. Alangkah besarnya beda antara Adam dan Kristus yang pada waktu itu masih akan datang!15Dan betapa besar beda antara dosa manusia dan pengampunan Allah! Manusia yang seorang ini, yaitu Adam, membawa kematian kepada banyak orang karena dosanya. Tetapi Yesus Kristus membawa pengampunan kepada banyak orang karena kemurahan Allah. 16Dosa Adam yang satu itu mengakibatkan kematian bagi banyak orang, sedangkan Kristus dengan cuma-cuma menghapuskan banyak dosa dan memberikan hidup yang penuh dengan kemuliaan. 17Dosa manusia yang seorang, yaitu Adam, menyebabkan kematian menguasai semua orang. Sedangkan semua yang mau menerima karunia Allah, yakni pengampunan dan pembebasan, menguasai kehidupan karena satu orang, yaitu Yesus Kristus.
18Ya, dosa Adam membawa hukuman bagi semua orang, tetapi kebenaran Kristus menjadikan manusia benar di hadapan Allah, sehingga mereka dapat hidup. 19Adam menyebabkan umat manusia berdosa, karena ia tidak taat kepada Allah, dan Kristus menjadikan umat manusia berkenan di hadapan Allah karena Ia taat.
20Hukum Taurat diberikan supaya semua orang dapat melihat kegagalan mereka dalam mematuhi hukum-hukum Allah. Tetapi makin kita melihat keadaan kita yang penuh dosa, makin tampak betapa melimpahnya kemurahan Allah dalam mengampuni kita. 21Sebelumnya, dosa menguasai semua orang dan membawa mereka kepada kematian, tetapi sekarang kebaikan Allah menguasai kita dan membenarkan kita di hadapan-Nya, sehingga kita memperoleh hidup kekal melalui Yesus Kristus, Tuhan kita.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
