Bersukacita karena pekerjaan Kristus
1 Apa pun yang terjadi, Sahabat-sahabat yang saya kasihi, bersukacitalah di dalam Tuhan. Saya tidak jemu-jemu memberitahukan hal ini kepada Saudara dan ada baiknya kalau Saudara mendengarnya berkali-kali.2Waspadalah terhadap anjing-anjing jahat, para guru palsu ini yang mengatakan bahwa untuk diselamatkan Saudara harus dikhitan. 3Kitalah yang memiliki khitan sejati: kita yang dibimbing oleh Roh Allah. Dia memungkinkan kita untuk melayani Allah dengan cara yang benar. Kita orang Kristen bangga menjadi milik Yesus Kristus dan tidak mengandalkan apa yang dapat kita lakukan sendiri.
4Meskipun begitu, seandainya ada orang yang mempunyai alasan untuk membanggakan hal-hal ini, sayalah orangnya. Memang, jika orang lain memiliki alasan untuk percaya diri dalam upaya mereka sendiri, pastilah saya memiliki lebih banyak lagi! 5Sebab saya dikhitan pada waktu saya berumur delapan hari, berdarah Yahudi, dari suku Benyamin. Jadi, saya boleh dikatakan orang Yahudi tulen! Lebih-lebih lagi, saya orang Farisi yang sangat taat kepada setiap hukum dan adat istiadat Yahudi. 6Dan tentang ketulusan? Ya, saya demikian tulusnya, sehingga saya menganiaya sidang jemaat. Saya berusaha menaati setiap peraturan dan adat istiadat Yahudi sampai kepada hal yang sekecil-kecilnya.
7Tetapi semua yang dahulu saya junjung tinggi, sekarang sudah saya buang supaya dapat memercayakan diri dan berharap hanya kepada Kristus saja. 8Ya, segala sesuatu yang lain tidak berharga, bila dibandingkan dengan besarnya keuntungan yang saya peroleh dari pengenalan akan Kristus Yesus, Tuhan saya. Saya telah mengesampingkan segala sesuatu yang lain dan menganggapnya sampah, supaya saya dapat memiliki Kristus serta 9menjadi satu dengan Dia. Saya tidak lagi menggantungkan keselamatan saya pada perbuatan baik atau ketaatan kepada hukum Allah, melainkan kepada kepercayaan bahwa Kristus menyelamatkan saya, sebab Allah membenarkan kita di hadapan hadirat-Nya atas dasar iman kita, yaitu berharap hanya kepada Kristus saja. 10Sekarang saya telah melepaskan semua hal lain. Saya ingin mengenal Kristus semakin baik: saya ingin mengalami kuasa yang menghidupkan-Nya kembali, tetapi saya mau membagikan penderitaan-Nya juga dan menyerahkan hidup saya sepenuhnya untuk Allah, sama seperti yang Yesus lakukan. 11Dengan begitu saya berharap bahwa saya akan mengalami hidup baru yang dinikmati oleh mereka yang dibangkitkan dari antara orang mati.
12Saya tidak bermaksud mengatakan bahwa saya telah mencapai tujuan ini atau bahwa saya sudah sempurna. Tetapi saya terus berusaha untuk memiliki kesempurnaan itu karena saya dimiliki Kristus Yesus.
13Saudara-saudara, saya belum lagi menjadi seperti yang diharapkan, tetapi saya mencurahkan segenap tenaga saya untuk satu perkara ini, yaitu dengan melupakan yang telah lalu dan mengharapkan yang akan datang, 14saya berusaha mencapai akhir perlombaan untuk menerima pahala yang telah disediakan Allah bagi kita di surga, karena apa yang dilakukan Kristus bagi kita.
15Saya harap semua orang Kristen dewasa sependapat dengan saya dalam hal-hal ini, dan apabila ada beberapa hal yang tidak Saudara setujui, saya percaya bahwa Allah akan menjelaskannya kepada Saudara, 16jikalau Saudara berpegang teguh pada kebenaran yang telah Saudara miliki.
17Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, tirulah pola hidup saya dan perhatikanlah siapa-siapa lagi yang hidup menurut teladan saya. 18Sebab telah sering saya katakan sebelumnya, dan sekarang dengan bercucuran air mata saya ulangi, bahwa ada banyak orang yang menamakan diri Kristen, tetapi melalui kehidupan mereka diperlihatkan bahwa mereka sebenarnya memusuhi salib Kristus. 19Hari depan mereka ialah kebinasaan kekal, sebab mereka bertuhankan hawa nafsu, dan mereka membanggakan hal-hal yang sebenarnya mengaibkan mereka. Yang mereka pikirkan hanyalah kehidupan di dunia ini. 20Padahal tanah air kita ialah surga, yaitu bersama dengan Juru Selamat kita, Tuhan Yesus Kristus; dan kita menantikan Dia kembali dari sana. 21Bila Ia datang lagi, Ia akan mengubah tubuh jasmani kita yang fana ini menjadi tubuh yang mulia seperti tubuh-Nya sendiri, dengan memakai kuasa yang sama, yang akan dipergunakan-Nya untuk menaklukkan segala sesuatu di mana pun juga.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
