Jangan melarikan diri dari persoalan
2Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, apakah kehidupan Saudara sedang dilanda berbagai kesulitan dan cobaan? Kalau demikian, bergembiralah, 3karena, jika jalan kehidupan itu sulit, kesabaran Saudara memperoleh kesempatan untuk tumbuh. 4Ketabahan ini harus berkembang dalam seluruh hidup Saudara, sehingga Saudara menjadi orang Kristen yang dewasa dan sempurna, tanpa cela atau kekurangan suatu apa pun.5Jika seorang dari Saudara tidak tahu apa yang harus dilakukan dalam masalah tertentu, mintalah Allah dan Ia akan memberikan kebijaksanaan kepadanya. Saudara tahu bahwa Ia tidak menuduh siapa pun atas ketidakmampuannya dan bahwa dia memberi dengan limpahnya semua orang yang memohon-Nya. 6Tetapi, jika Saudara bertanya kepada-Nya, hendaklah Saudara benar-benar mengharapkan Dia untuk memberi tahu Saudara; sebab pikiran yang ragu-ragu bagaikan gelombang laut yang diombang-ambingkan angin, 7– 8dan tiap-tiap keputusan yang Saudara ambil tidak berketentuan, sebab selalu berubah-ubah. Jika Saudara tidak bertanya dengan iman, janganlah mengharap bahwa Tuhan akan memberi jawaban yang tegas.
9Orang Kristen yang miskin dan tidak berarti apa-apa di mata dunia ini seharusnya merasa bangga karena ia dihormati Allah. 10Tetapi orang kaya tidak boleh lupa betapa kecil arti harta duniawinya di hadapan Allah. Seperti bunga di ladang, ia dan kekayaannya akan lenyap. 11Matahari terbit dengan panasnya yang terik dan rumput layu; bunga kecil terkulai dan jatuh, kehilanganlah keelokannya. Begitulah juga dengan orang kaya: ia akan meninggal dengan semua pencapaian yang dimungkinkan kekayaannya.
12Berbahagialah orang yang tidak berbuat salah pada saat ia menghadapi cobaan, karena sebagai hadiahnya ia akan memperoleh mahkota kehidupan yang telah dijanjikan Allah kepada mereka yang mengasihi Dia. 13Dan apabila seseorang dicobai untuk berbuat salah, hendaknya ia ingat bahwa cobaan itu bukan dari Allah, karena Allah tidak dapat dicobai oleh kejahatan dan juga tidak mencobai orang untuk berbuat jahat. 14Tetapi cobaan itu disebabkan oleh keinginannya sendiri yang jahat. 15Kemudian keinginan jahat itu melahirkan tindakan berdosa, dan ketika dosa dibiarkan tumbuh sepenuhnya, melahirkan kematian. 16Oleh karena itu, hai Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, janganlah mau disesatkan.
17Segala sesuatu yang baik dan sempurna berasal dari Allah, Pencipta segala terang. Ia bersinar untuk selama-lamanya tanpa perubahan atau bayangan. 18Atas kehendak-Nya sendiri Ia memberi kita kehidupan baru melalui Firman Kebenaran, Kabar Kesukaan. Jadi kita telah menjadi awal dari ciptaan baru-Nya.
19Saudara sekalian yang saya kasihi, sekali-kali janganlah lupa ini: selalu bersiaplah untuk mendengar, tetapi pikirkan baik-baik sebelum Saudara berbicara. Dan waspadalah terhadap amarah yang tak terkendali! 20Sebab orang yang marah tidak melakukan apa yang menyenangkan hati Allah.
21Jadi buanglah semua yang kotor dan jahat dalam kehidupan Saudara. Dengan penuh kerendahan hati terimalah berita yang ditanam Allah seperti benih dalam hati Saudara. Berita itu memiliki kekuatan untuk menyelamatkan Saudara.
22Dan ingatlah bahwa berita itu bukan hanya sekadar untuk didengar, melainkan untuk ditaati. Sebab itu, janganlah Saudara membohongi diri sendiri. 23Karena, jika orang hanya mendengar berita itu dan tidak menaatinya, maka ia seperti orang yang melihat wajahnya sendiri di dalam cermin. 24Segera sesudah ia pergi, ia tidak lagi dapat melihat dirinya sendiri atau mengingat bagaimana rupanya. 25Akan tetapi, jika ia senantiasa menyelidiki hukum Allah yang memerdekakan orang, maka bukan saja ia akan mengingatnya, melainkan juga akan melakukan apa yang tercantum di dalamnya, lalu Allah akan memberkati orang itu dengan berkelimpahan di dalam segala perkara yang dilakukannya.
26Jika seseorang mengatakan bahwa ia orang Kristen, tetapi ia tidak menjaga lidahnya, maka ia hanya membohongi dirinya sendiri dan kekristenannya itu tidak ada artinya. 27Orang Kristen yang dalam pandangan Allah Bapa suci dan tidak bersalah ialah orang yang memedulikan yatim piatu dan para janda dan yang jiwanya tetap setia kepada Allah—tidak dicemarkan atau dikotorkan karena hubungannya dengan dunia ini.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
