1 Para rasul dan saudara-saudara seiman yang lain di Yudea segera mendengar bahwa orang-orang bukan Yahudi juga menerima Kristus! 2Pada waktu Petrus tiba kembali di Yerusalem, orang-orang Kristen Yahudi mulai berbantah dengan dia.3Mereka menuduh, “Saudara bersekutu dengan orang-orang bukan Yahudi, bahkan Saudara makan bersama dengan mereka.”
4Kemudian Petrus menceritakan duduk perkaranya. 5“Pada suatu hari di Yope,” katanya, “sedang saya berdoa, saya mendapat suatu penglihatan: sehelai kain lebar yang tergantung pada keempat sudutnya diturunkan dari langit. 6Di dalam kain itu terdapat berjenis-jenis binatang berkaki empat, binatang melata, dan burung-burung (yang kita haramkan). 7Dan saya mendengar suatu suara berkata, ‘Sembelih dan makanlah mana yang engkau sukai.’
8“ ‘Tidak, Tuhan,’ sahut saya, ‘sebab saya belum pernah makan sesuatu yang diharamkan oleh hukum Yahudi!’
9“Tetapi suara itu berkata lagi, ‘Apa yang dihalalkan oleh Allah, jangan engkau haramkan!’
10“Hal ini terjadi tiga kali. Kemudian kain itu dan segala isinya terangkat kembali ke langit. 11Pada saat itu juga datanglah tiga orang di rumah yang saya tumpangi. Mereka mengajak saya pergi ke Kaisarea. 12Roh Kudus menyuruh saya pergi bersama dengan mereka, meskipun mereka bukan orang Yahudi! Keenam saudara ini menyertai saya, dan kami pun sampailah di rumah orang yang telah mengirimkan utusan-utusan itu. 13Diceritakannya kepada kami bahwa seorang malaikat telah menampakkan diri kepadanya dan menyuruh dia mengutus orang ke Yope mencari Simon Petrus. 14‘Ia akan memberitahukan bagaimana engkau dan seisi rumahmu dapat diselamatkan,’ kata malaikat itu.
15“Ketika saya mulai mengabarkan Berita Kesukaan kepada mereka, Roh Kudus turun ke atas semua orang yang sedang mendengarkan, sama seperti yang terjadi pada kita dahulu. 16Lalu teringatlah saya akan kata-kata Tuhan pada waktu ia berkata, ‘Ya, Yohanes membaptiskan dengan air, tetapi kalian akan dibaptiskan dengan Roh Kudus.’ 17Dan karena Allah memberi mereka karunia yang sama seperti yang diberikan-Nya kepada kita, ketika kita mulai percaya kepada Tuhan Yesus Kristus, mana mungkin saya membantah?”
18Ketika mereka mendengar hal itu, semua keberatan mereka lenyap dan mereka memuliakan Allah. “Ya,” kata mereka, “kepada orang-orang bukan Yahudi pun Allah telah memberikan kesempatan untuk bertobat kepada-Nya dan menerima hidup kekal!”
Barnabas dan Saulus ke Antiokhia
19Selama masa penganiayaan setelah Stefanus mati dirajam, banyak orang percaya melarikan diri dari Yerusalem. Mereka pergi sampai ke Fenisia, Siprus, dan Antiokhia sambil menyebarluaskan Berita Kesukaan, tetapi hanya kepada orang-orang Yahudi saja. 20Namun, beberapa dari mereka yang pergi ke Antiokhia dari Siprus dan Kirene, menyampaikan berita tentang Tuhan Yesus kepada orang-orang Yunani juga. 21Tuhan memberkati usaha itu, sehingga banyak sekali orang yang bukan Yahudi menjadi Kristen.22Ketika sidang jemaat di Yerusalem mendengar apa yang telah terjadi, mereka mengutus Barnabas untuk menolong orang-orang yang baru percaya itu. 23Ketika ia sampai di sana dan melihat perkara-perkara ajaib yang sedang dilakukan Allah, ia pun diliputi kegirangan dan sukacita. Ia mendorong mereka supaya setia kepada Tuhan, apa pun akibatnya. 24Barnabas seorang yang baik hati, penuh dengan Roh Kudus serta kuat imannya, sehingga banyaklah jiwa yang dibawa kepada Tuhan.
25Kemudian Barnabas pergi ke Tarsus mencari Saulus. 26Setelah bertemu, ia membawanya ke Antiokhia. Keduanya tinggal di sana setahun penuh serta mengajar orang-orang yang baru percaya yang banyak jumlahnya itu. Di Antiokhialah orang-orang percaya pertama kali disebut “orang Kristen”.
27Pada waktu itu beberapa nabi dari Yerusalem tiba di Antiokhia, 28dan seorang dari mereka, yang bernama Agabus, pada suatu pertemuan berdiri dan dengan kuasa Roh bernubuat bahwa Negeri Israel akan ditimpa bahaya kelaparan. Nubuat ini digenapi pada masa pemerintahan Klaudius. 29Maka orang-orang yang percaya itu mengirimkan bantuan kepada orang-orang Kristen di Yudea, masing-masing sebanyak yang dapat diberikannya. 30Persembahan kasih itu dipercayakan kepada Barnabas dan Saulus untuk diserahkan kepada para penatua di Yerusalem.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
