1Wie sitzet so einsam die Stadt! wo viel Volkes war, wie eine Witwe ist sie geworden! Die Große ▼▼viele
unter den Völkerschaften, die Fürstin der Landschaften, ist zinsbar geworden. 2Weinend weint sie bei Nacht, und ihre Träne ist auf ihrer Wange; und keiner ist, der sie tröstete, von allen ihren Liebhabern; alle ihre Genossen sind ihr treulos, sind zu Feinden ihr geworden. 3Jehudah ist weggeführt ob dem Elend, und ob dem vielen Dienste, sie wohnt ▼▼sitzt
unter den Völkerschaften, sie findet keine Ruhe; alle, die es verfolgen, erreichen sie in den Bedrängnissen. 4Die Wege Zijons trauern, daß niemand kommt zur Festzeit. Alle ihre Tore sind verwüstet, ihre Priester seufzen, ihre Jungfrauen grämen sich, und sie - ihr ist es bitter. 5Ihre Dränger sind worden zum Haupt, ihre Feinde sind im Behagen, weil Jehovah sie grämen läßt ob der Menge ihrer Übertretungen. Ihre Kindlein gehen in die Gefangenschaft vor dem Dränger. 6Und fortgegangen von der Tochter Zijon ist alle ihre Ehre. Ihre Obersten sind wie Hirsche, die keine Weide finden, und sie gehen hin, ohne Kraft vor dem Verfolger. 7Jerusalem gedenkt in den Tagen ihres Elends und ihrer Trübsal all ihrer Annehmlichkeiten ▼▼ihr Begehrenswertes
von der Vorzeit Tagen. Da ihr Volk ist gefallen in die Hand des Drängers und ihr niemand beisteht, sehen es die Dränger und lachen über ihr Feiern. 8Jerusalem hat gesündigt ▼▼sündigend gesündigt
; darum ist sie zur Befleckung geworden. Alle die, so sie verherrlicht, miß-achten sie; denn ihre Blöße haben sie gesehen; auch seufzt sie und hat sich zurückgewendet rückwärts. 9Ihre Unreinheit ist an ihren Säumen. Sie hat an ihre Zukunft nicht gedacht, und ist wunderbarlich herabgekommen. Niemand tröstet sie. Jehovah, siehe mein Elend; denn groß macht sich der Feind. 10Der Dränger hat seine Hand über all ihre Kleinode ▼▼ihr Begehrenswertes
ausgebreitet; denn sie sah, daß Völkerschaften kamen in ihr Heiligtum, von denen Du geboten, daß sie nicht in Deine Versammlung kommen sollten. 11All ihr Volk seufzt, sie suchen Brot, sie gaben ihre Kleinode ▼▼ihr Begehrenswertes
für Speise, daß sie erquicketen ▼▼zurückbringen
ihre Seele. Siehe, Jehovah, und blicke her, wie ich mißachtet bin. 12Ist es euch nichts, ihr alle, die ihr des Weges vorübergeht? Blicket und seht, ob ein Schmerz ist wie mein Schmerz, der mir ward angetan, womit Jehovah mich am Tage der Entbrennung Seines Zorns betrübt ▼▼gegrämt
hat? 13Er sandte Feuer aus der Höhe in mein Gebein und es beherrschte dasselbe. Er breitete ein Netz aus für meine Füße; Er hat mich rückwärts zurückgewandt; Er hat mich der Verwüstung hingegeben; ich sieche den ganzen Tag. 14Meiner Übertretungen Joch ist festgeknüpft durch Seine Hand, sie sind verflochten über meinem Hals heraufgekommen, es hat meine Kraft zum Straucheln gebracht, der Herr hat in Hände mich gegeben, daß ich nicht aufkommen kann. 15Alle meine Gewaltigen in meiner Mitte hat der Herr hinuntergetreten, über mich die bestimmte Zeit ausgerufen, um meine Jünglinge zu zerbrechen. Die Kelter hat der Herr getreten der Jungfrau, der Tochter Jehudahs. 16Darob weine ich; mein Auge, mein Auge, herab rinnt Wasser; denn ferne ist von mir der Tröster, der meine Seele erquickt ▼▼zurückbringt
. Meine Söhne sind verwüstet; denn der Feind ward übermächtig. 17Zijon breitet ihre Hände aus, es ist für sie kein Tröster. Jehovah hat wider Jakob rings um ihn seine Dränger entboten. Jerusalem ist unter ihnen zur Befleckung geworden. 18Gerecht ist Er, Jehovah; denn ich war widerspenstig wider Seinen Mund. Hört doch, ihr Völker alle, und sehet meinen Schmerz! Meine Jungfrauen und meine Jünglinge sind gegangen in Gefangenschaft. 19Ich rief meinen Liebhabern - sie betrogen mich. Meine Priester und meine Ältesten sind verschieden in der Stadt, denn sie suchten Speise für sich, um ihre Seele zu erquicken ▼▼zurückzubringen
. 20Siehe, Jehovah, wie mir angst ist. Mein Eingeweide wallt auf, mein Herz kehrt sich um in meinem Inneren, weil ich widerspenstig war. Draußen macht das Schwert mich kinder- los, im Haus ist es wie der Tod. 21Sie hörten, wie ich seufzte, ich habe keinen Tröster; alle meine Feinde hörten, was mir Böses geschah; sie freuen sich, daß du es getan hast. Du bringst den Tag, den Du gerufen hast, und sie werden wie ich. 22Laß alle ihre Bosheit vor Dich kommen, und tue ihnen an, wie Du mir ob aller meiner Übertretungen hast angetan; denn viel sind meiner Seufzer, und mein Herz ist siech.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
