Hungersnot. Rizpah. - Sieg über die Philister.
1Und es war eine Hungersnot in den Tagen Davids, drei Jahre, Jahr für Jahr ▼▼nach
. Und David suchte das Angesicht Jehovahs. Und Jehovah sprach: Wegen Sauls und wegen des Bluthauses, dafür, daß er die Gibeoniter tötete. 2Und der König rief die Gibeoniter und sprach zu ihnen. Die Gibeoniter sind nicht von den Söhnen Israels, sondern übriggeblieben von den Amoritern, und die Söhne Israel hatten ihnen geschworen, Saul aber hatte sie zu erschlagen gesucht, weil er für die Söhne Israels und Judahs, eiferte. 3Und David sprach zu den Gibeonitern: Was soll ich euch tun, und womit sühnen, auf daß ihr Jehovahs Erbe segnet? 4Und die Gibeoniter sprachen zu ihm: Wir wollen kein Silber und Gold von Saul und von seinem Hause, auch dürfen wir keinen Mann töten in Israel; er aber sprach: Was ihr sprechet, will ich euch tun. 5Und sie sprachen zum König: Der Mann, der uns verzehrte und der wider uns sann, uns zu vernichten, daß wir uns nicht stellen durften in alle Grenze Israels; 6Man gebe uns sieben Männer von seinen Söhnen, auf daß wir sie dem Jehovah an den Pfahl schlagen, in Gibeath Saul, des von Jehovah Erwählten. Und der König sprach: Ich will sie geben. 7Und der König hatte Mitleid mit Mephiboscheth, dem Sohne Jonathans, des Sohnes Sauls, wegen des Schwures Jehovahs, der zwischen ihnen, zwischen David und Jonathan, dem Sohne Sauls, war. 8Und der König nahm die zwei Söhne Rizpahs, der Tochter Ajahs, die sie dem Saul geboren, Armoni und Mephiboscheth, und die fünf Söhne der Michal, der Tochter Sauls, die sie dem Adriel, dem Sohne Barsillais, dem Mecholathiter, geboren. 9Und er gab sie in die Hand der Gibeoniter, und sie schlugen sie an den Pfahl auf dem Berg vor Jehovah, und die sieben fielen zusammen, und sie wurden getötet in den ersten Tagen der Ernte, als die Gerstenernte begann. 10Und Rizpah, Ajahs Tochter, nahm einen Sack und breitete ihn für sich auf den Felsen, vom Anbeginn der Ernte, bis daß die Wasser vom Himmel sich über sie ergossen, und gab nicht zu, daß das Gevögel des Himmels bei Tag auf ihnen ruhte, noch das wilde Tier des Feldes bei Nacht. 11Und es ward dem David angesagt, was Rizpah, die Tochter Ajahs, das Kebsweib Sauls, tat. 12Und David ging hin und nahm die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine Jonathans, seines Sohnes, von den Bürgern von Jabesch in Gilead, die sie von dem Torplatze zu Beth-Schan gestohlen, wo die Philister sie am Tage, da die Philister den Saul in Gilboa schlugen, aufgehängt hatten; 13Und brachte von dannen herauf die Gebeine Sauls und die Gebeine Jonathans, seines Sohnes. Und sie sammelten die Gebeine der an den Pfahl Geschlagenen. 14Und sie begruben die Gebeine Sauls und Jonathans, seines Sohnes, im Lande Benjamin zu Zelah im Grab seines Vaters Kisch, und sie taten alles, was der König geboten hatte. Und Gott ließ Sich danach vom Lande erflehen. 15Und es war wieder ein Streit der Philister mit Israel, und David ging hinab und seine Knechte mit ihm, und sie stritten mit den Philistern, und David ward matt. 16Jischbi aber zu Nob, der einer der Kinder des Rapha ▼▼d.h. des Riesen
war, und das Gewicht seiner Speerspitze war dreihundert Schekel Erz, und war von neuem umgürtet, und sagte, er werde David erschlagen ▼▼schlagen
17Aber Abischai, der Sohn Zerujahs, stand ihm bei und schlug den Philister und tötete ihn. Da schwuren die Männer Davids vor ihm und sprachen: Du sollst nicht mehr mit uns zum Streite ausziehen, auf daß du nicht auslöschest die Leuchte ▼▼Lampe
Israels. 18Und es geschah danach, daß wieder Streit war in Gob mit den Philistern. Da erschlug Sibbechai, der Chuschathiter, den Saph von den Kindern Raphas ▼▼d.h. des Riesen
. 19Und es war wieder ein Streit mit den Philistern in Gob; und Elchanan, Jaare Orgims Sohn, ein Bethlehemite, schlug den Gathiter Goliath. Und das Holz seines Spießes war wie ein Weberbaum. 20Und es war wieder ein Streit in Gath, und da war ein riesenhafter Mann ▼▼Mann des Maßes
, und die Finger seiner Hände und die Zehen ▼▼Finger
seiner Füße waren sechs und sechs, vierundzwanzig an der Zahl, und auch er ward dem Rapha ▼▼dem Riesen
geboren. 21Und der schmähte Israel; und es erschlug ihn Jehonathan, der Sohn von Schimai, dem Bruder Davids. 22Diese vier waren geboren dem Rapha ▼▼dem Riesen
in Gath, und fielen durch die Hand Davids und durch die Hand seiner Knechte.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
