David flieht vor Absalom.
1Und es geschah danach, daß Absalom sich machen ließ Streitwagen und Rosse, und fünfzig Mann vor sich herlaufen ließ. 2Und Absalom machte sich früh auf, und er stand an der Seite ▼▼der Hand
des Weges am Tore; und es geschah, wenn irgendein Mann einen Rechtshandel hatte und kam bei dem Könige zu Gericht, da rief ihm Absalom zu und sprach: Von welcher Stadt bist du? Und wenn er dann sagte: Aus einem der Stämme ▼▼Ruten
Israels ist dein Knecht; 3So sprach Absalom zu ihm: Siehe, deine Sache ▼▼Wort
ist gut und richtig, aber es ist beim König niemand, der sie für dich höre. 4Und Absalom sagte: O! Daß man mich zum Richter im Lande setzte und jeder Mann zu mir käme, der einen Hader und Rechtssache hätte, ich wollte ihm Gerechtigkeit schaffen! 5Und wenn ein Mann nahte, um vor ihm niederzufallen, da reckte er seine Hand aus und erfaßte ihn und küßte ihn. 6Und so ▼▼nach diesem Worte
tat Absalom bei ganz Israel, wenn sie vor Gericht zum König kamen, und Absalom stahl das Herz der Männer von Israel. 7Und es geschah am Ende von vierzig Jahren, daß Absalom zum König sprach: Laß mich doch hingehen, daß ich mein Gelübde entrichte, welches ich Jehovah in Chebron gelobt habe. 8Denn dein Knecht gelobte ein Gelübde, da ich zu Geschur in Aram wohnte ▼▼saß
und sprach: Wenn Jehovah mich nach Jerusalem zurückbringt ▼▼zurückbringend zurückbringt
, will ich Jehovah dienen. 9Und der König sprach zu ihm: Gehe hin im Frieden! Und er machte sich auf und ging nach Chebron. 10Und Absalom hatte Kundschafter unter alle Stämme ▼▼Ruten
Israels ausgesandt und sagen lassen: Wenn ihr den Schall ▼▼die Stimme
der Posaune höret, so sprechet: Absalom ist zu Chebron König geworden. 11Und mit Absalom gingen zweihundert Männer, die berufen waren, von Jerusalem. Und sie gingen in ihrer Rechtschaffenheit mit, und wußten kein Wort von allem. 12Und Absalom sandte nach dem Giloniter Achitophel, Davids Rat, aus seiner Stadt, aus Gilo, als er die Opfer opferte, und es wurde so die Verschwörung gewaltig, und das Volk kam herbei und mehrte sich bei Absalom. 13Und es kam einer, der sagte David an und sprach: Das Herz der Männer Israels ist hinter Absalom her. 14Und David sprach zu allen seinen Knechten, die mit ihm in Jerusalem waren: Machet euch auf und laßt uns entweichen; denn für uns ist kein Entkommen vor Absalom; geht eilig, daß er nicht eile und uns erreiche und Böses über uns bringe, und die Stadt mit der Schärfe ▼▼mit dem Munde
des Schwertes schlage. 15Und die Knechte des Königs sprachen zu dem König: Nach allem was mein Herr, der König, erwählt, siehe, hier sind deine Knechte. 16Und der König zog aus, und all sein Haus ihm nach ▼▼zu seinen Füßen
; und der König ließ zurück zehn Weiber, Kebsweiber, um das Haus zu hüten. 17Und der König und alles Volk zogen aus, ihm nach ▼▼zu seinen Füßen
; und sie blieben stehen am Hause der Ferne. 18Und all seine Knechte zogen an seiner Seite ▼▼Hand
vorüber, und alle Krethi und Plethi und alle Gathiter, sechshundert Mann, die mit ihm ▼▼zu seinem Fuße
von Gath gekommen waren, zogen vor dem König vorüber. 19Und der König sprach zu Itthai, dem Gathiter: Warum ziehst auch du mit uns? Kehre zurück und bleibe ▼▼sitze
bei dem Könige; denn du bist ein Ausländer und du bist auch aus deinem Orte fortgeführt; 20Gestern bist du hereingekommen und heute sollte ich dich bewegen, mit uns zu gehen? Ich aber gehe, wohin ich gehe; kehre um und nimm deine Brüder zurück mit dir, in Barmherzigkeit und Treue. 21Und Itthai antwortete dem König und sprach: Beim Leben Jehovahs und beim Leben meines Herrn, des Königs, an dem Orte, wo mein Herr, der König, ist, ob zum Tode oder zum Leben, da wird dein Knecht sein. 22Und David sprach zu Itthai: So gehe und ziehe vorüber. Und Itthai, der Gathiter, zog vorüber und all seine Männer und alle Kindlein, die bei ihm waren. 23Und das ganze Land weinte mit großer Stimme, und alles Volk zog vorüber; und der König ging hinüber über den Bach Kidron und alles Volk zog vorüber auf dem Wege ▼▼dem Angesichte des Weges
nach der Wüste. 24Und siehe, auch Zadok und alle Leviten mit ihm trugen die Bundeslade Gottes, und stellten die Lade Gottes auf; und Abjathar opferte auf, bis alles Volk aus der Stadt vorübergezogen war. 25Und der König sprach zu Zadok: Bringe die Lade Gottes in die Stadt zurück. Wenn ich Gnade finde in den Augen Jehovahs und Er mich zurückbringt, so wird Er mich sehen lassen Ihn und Seinen Wohnort. 26Wenn Er aber also spricht: Ich habe keine Lust an dir, - siehe, so bin ich hier. Er tue mit mir, wie es gut in Seinen Augen ist. 27Und der König sprach zu Zadok dem Priester: Siehst du? Kehre in Frieden zurück in die Stadt, und Achimaaz, dein Sohn, und Jonathan, der Sohn Abjathars, eure beiden Söhne, mit euch. 28Sehet, ich säume in dem Blachfeld der Wüste, bis das Wort von euch kommt, mir anzusagen. 29So brachten den Zadok und Abjathar die Lade Gottes nach Jerusalem zurück und blieben ▼▼saßen
daselbst. 30Und David stieg die Steige der Ölbäume hinauf, er stieg hinauf und weinte, und hatte sein Haupt verhüllt und ging barfuß. Und alles Volk, das mit ihm war, hatte jeder Mann sein Haupt verhüllt, und stiegen hinauf, hinaufsteigend und weinend. 31Und man sagte David an und sprach: Achitophel ist unter den Verschwörern bei Absalom. Und David sprach: Jehovah lasse den Rat Achitophels zur Narrheit werden. 32Und David war bis auf die Spitze ▼▼das Haupt
gekommen, wo man Gott anbetet, und siehe, ihm kam Chuschai, der Architer, mit zerrissenem Rocke entgegen, und Erde ▼▼Boden
war auf seinem Haupt. 33Und David sprach zu ihm: Wenn du mit mir hinüberziehst, so bist du mir zur Last. 34Wenn du aber in die Stadt zurückkehrst und zu Absalom sprichst: Ich will dein Knecht sein, König, ich war seither ein Knecht deines Vaters und will nun dein Knecht sein: so kannst du mir den Rat Achitophels zunichte machen. 35Und sind nicht Zadok und Abjathar, die Priester, bei dir dort? Und es sei, daß jedes Wort, das du hören wirst aus dem Hause des Königs, das sage an dem Zadok und Abjathar, den Priestern. 36Siehe, bei ihnen sind daselbst ihre zwei Söhne, Achimaaz, der des Zadok, und Jonathan, der des Abjathar, und sendet zu mir durch ihre Hand jedes Wort, daß ihr hört. 37Und Chuschai, der Genosse Davids, kam in die Stadt, und Absalom kam nach Jerusalem.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
