1Sieben Jahre war Jehoasch alt ▼▼ein Sohn von 7 Jahren
, da er König wurde. 2Im siebenten Jahre Jehus ward Jehoasch König und regierte vierzig Jahre in Jerusalem, und der Name seiner Mutter war Zibjah aus Beerscheba. 3Und Jehoasch tat, was recht ▼▼redlich
war in den Augen Jehovahs alle seine Tage, da ihn Jehojada, der Priester, unterwies. 4Nur die Opferhöhen taten sie nicht weg. Das Volk opferte und räucherte noch auf den Opferhöhen. 5Und Jehoasch sprach zu den Priestern: Alles geheiligte Silber, das in das Haus Jehovahs hereingebracht wird, das gangbare Silber, das Silber eines Mannes, seine Schätzung der Seelen, alles Silber, das in eines Mannes Herz aufkommt, zum Hause Jehovahs hereinzubringen, 6Das sollen die Priester, ein jeder Mann von seinem Bekannten nehmen, und sie sollen die Risse des Hauses, wo sich ein Riß findet, ausbessern ▼▼stärken
. 7Aber im dreiundzwanzigsten Jahre der Jahre des Königs Jehoasch, hatten die Priester noch keinen Riß ausgebessert ▼▼gestärkt
. 8Und der König Jehoasch rief Jehojada, den Priester, und die Priester, und sprach zu ihnen: Warum bessert ▼▼stärkt
ihr die Risse des Hauses nicht aus? Und nun sollt ihr kein Silber von euren Bekannten nehmen, sondern gebt es für die Ausbesserung der Risse am Tempel. 9Und die Priester willigten ein, kein Silber vom Volke zu nehmen und nicht selbst die Risse am Hause auszubessern ▼▼stärken
. 10Und Jehojada, der Priester, nahm eine Lade und bohrte ein Loch durch ihren Deckel ▼▼Tür
und gab sie neben den Altar rechts hin, wenn ein Mann in das Haus Jehovahs kommt. Und die Priester, welche die Schwelle hüteten, gaben darein alles Silber, das in das Haus Jehovahs hineingebracht wurde. 11Und es geschah, wenn sie sahen, daß viel Silber in der Lade war, gingen der Schreiber des Königs und der Hohepriester ▼▼große Priester
hinauf und banden das Silber, das sich im Hause Jehovahs fand, zusammen und berechneten es. 12Und sie gaben das Silber, nachdem es gewogen war, in die Hände derer, so die Arbeit machten, derer, so über das Haus Jehovahs bestellt waren, und sie brachten es heraus den Werkleuten, die das Holz bearbeiteten ▼▼den Werkleuten in Holz
, und den Bauleuten, die am Hause Jehovahs schafften. 13Und an die Maurer und die Behauer der Steine, und zum Kauf von Holz und gehauenen Steinen, um die Risse des Hauses Jehovahs auszubessern ▼▼stärken
; und zu allem, was ausging, um das Haus auszubessern ▼▼stärken
. 14Doch wurden für das Haus Jehovahs nicht gemacht silberne Becken, Messer, Sprengbecken, Trompeten, irgendwelches Gerät von Gold und Gerät von Silber aus dem Silber, das in das Haus Jehovahs gebracht ward. 15Sondern sie gaben es den Arbeitern am Werke, daß sie davon das Haus Jehovahs ausbessern ▼▼stärken
sollten. 16Und man rechnete nicht mit den Männern, in deren Hand man das Geld gab, um es denen, welche die Arbeit taten, zu geben; denn sie taten es in Treue. 17Das Silber der Schuldopfer und das Silber der Sündopfer brachte man nicht in das Haus Jehovahs. Es war der Priester. 18Damals zog Chasael, König von Aram, herauf und stritt wider Gath und gewann es, und Chasael hatte sein Angesicht gesetzt wider Jerusalem hinaufzuziehen. 19Und Jehoasch, König von Judah, nahm alles Geheiligte, das Jehoschaphat und Jehoram und Achasjahu, seine Väter, die Könige Judahs, geheiligt hatten, und das von ihm Geheiligte, und alles Gold, das in den Schätzen des Hauses Jehovahs und im Hause des Königs gefunden ward, und sandte es an Chasael, König von Aram, und er zog hinauf, weg von Jerusalem. 20Und die übrige Geschichte ▼▼Worte
des Jehoasch, und alles, was er tat, ist es nicht geschrieben im Buche der Tagesgeschichten ▼▼der Worte der Tage = Chronik
der Könige Judahs? 21Und seine Knechte machten sich auf, fingen ▼▼verschworen
eine Verschwörung an, und schlugen den Joasch in dem Hause Millo, da man hinab nach Silla geht. Und Josachar, Schimeaths Sohn, und Jehosabad, der Sohn Schomers, seine Knechte, schlugen ihn, daß er starb, und sie begruben ihn bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids, und Amazjah, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Stelle.
