Schicksal der Priester zu Nob.
1Und David ging von dannen und entrann in die Höhle von Adulam. Und seine Brüder und das ganze Haus seines Vaters hörten das und kamen zu ihm dorthin herab. 2Und es kamen zu ihm zusammen jeder Mann, der beengt, und jeder Mann, der verschuldet war, und jeder Mann von erbitterter Seele, und er ward zum Obersten über sie, und es waren bei ihm bei vierhundert Mann. 3Und von da ging David nach Mizpeh in Moab und sprach zum König von Moab: Laß doch meinen Vater und meine Mutter zu euch ausziehen, bis daß ich weiß, was Gott mir tun wird. 4Und er führte sie vor den König von Moab und sie blieben ▼▼saßen
bei ihm alle Tage, die David in den Festen war. 5Und der Prophet Gad sprach zu David: Bleibe ▼▼sitze
nicht in der Feste, gehe und komm in das Land Judah. Und David ging hin und kam in den Wald Chereth. 6Und Saul hörte, daß David und die Männer, die mit ihm waren, wären kund geworden. Und Saul saß zu Gibeah unter dem Hainbaum auf der Höhe und sein Spieß in seiner Hand, und alle seine Knechte bei ihm aufgestellt. 7Und Saul sprach zu seinen Knechten, die um ihn aufgestellt waren: Höret doch, Söhne Benjamins: Wird denn auch der Sohn Ischais euch allen Felder und Weinberge geben, euch alle zu Obersten von Tausenden und zu Obersten von Hunderten setzen? 8Daß ihr euch alle wider mich verbunden habt und keiner vor meinem Ohre offenbart, daß mein Sohn es mit dem Sohne Ischais abgeschlossen hat, und keiner von euch ist, den es meinetwegen kränkt und der es meinem Ohre offenbart, daß mein Sohn meinen Knecht wider mich erweckt, mir nachzustellen, wie es dieses Tages geschieht. 9Und Doeg, der Edomiter, der bei Sauls Knechten dastand, antwortete und sprach: Ich sah den Sohn Ischais nach Nob kommen zu Achimelech, dem Sohne Achitubs. 10Und er befragte für ihn Jehovah und gab ihm Zehrung; und gab ihm das Schwert Goljaths, des Philisters. 11Und der König sandte und ließ rufen Achimelech, Achitubs Sohn, den Priester und das ganze Haus seines Vaters, die Priester, die zu Nob waren, und sie kamen alle zum König. 12Und Saul sprach: Höre doch, Sohn Achitubs. Und er sprach: Siehe, hier bin ich, mein Herr! 13Und Saul sprach zu ihm: Warum habt ihr euch wider mich verbunden, du und der Sohn Ischais, daß du ihm Brot und ein Schwert gabst, und Gott für ihn fragtest, auf daß er wider mich aufstehe, mir nachstelle, wie dieses Tages geschieht? 14Und Achimelech antwortete dem König und sprach: Und wer ist unter allen deinen Knechten so treu wie David und Eidam des Königs und hingeht in deinem Gehorsam, und ist herrlich gehalten in deinem Hause? 15Habe ich heute erst angefangen, Gott für ihn zu fragen? Das sei ferne von mir! Der König lege seinem Knechte nichts ▼▼kein Wort
auf im ganzen Hause meines Vaters; denn dein Knecht wußte nichts ▼▼kein Wort
von alle dem, weder Kleines noch Großes. 16Der König aber sprach: Achimelech, du mußt des Todes sterben, du und das ganze Haus deines Vaters. 17Und der König sprach zu den Läufern, die um ihn her aufgestellt waren: Wendet euch um und tötet die Priester Jehovahs, denn auch ihre Hand ist mit David, und weil sie gewußt haben, daß er entwich, und haben es meinem Ohre nicht geoffenbart; aber die Knechte des Königs waren nicht willens, ihre Hand auszurecken, um die Priester Jehovahs niederzusto-ßen ▼▼auf die Priester zu stoßen
. 18Und der König sprach zu Doeg: Wende du dich um und stoße die Priester nieder ▼▼auf die Priester zu stoßen
. Und Doeg, der Edomiter, wandte sich um und stieß selbst die Priester nieder, und es starben an selbigem Tage fünfundachtzig Männer, die das leinene Ephod trugen. 19Und Nob, die Stadt der Priester, schlug er mit der Schärfe ▼▼mit dem Munde
des Schwertes, vom Mann bis zum Weib, vom Kindlein und bis zum Säugling, und Ochse und Esel und Kleinvieh mit der Schärfe ▼▼mit dem Munde
des Schwertes. 20Und es entrann ein Sohn von Achimelech, dem Sohne Achitubs, und sein Name war Abjathar, und er entwich dem David nach. 21Und Abjathar sagte dem David an, daß Saul die Priester Jehovahs erwürgt hätte. 22Und David sprach zu Abjathar: Ich wußte an jenem Tage, da Doeg, der Edomiter, daselbst war, daß er es dem Saul ansagen würde. Ich habe es allen Seelen von deines Vaters Haus angetan ▼▼herumgewendet

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
