1Und Achab sagte der Isebel an alles, was Elijahu getan hatte, und alles, wie er alle Propheten mit dem Schwerte erwürgt. 2Und Isebel sandte einen Boten an Elijahu und ließ ihm sagen: So sollen mir die Götter tun, und so fortfahren, wenn ich um die morgende Zeit deine Seele nicht mache ▼▼setze
wie die Seele eines von ihnen. 3Und er fürchtete sich und machte sich auf und ging um seiner Seele willen, und kam nach Beerscheba in Judah, und ließ seinen Jungen allda bleiben. 4Er aber ging in die Wüste, eines Tages Weg, und kam und setzte sich unter einen Ginsterstrauch, und bat für seine Seele, daß er sterbe, und sprach: Nun ist es genug ▼▼viel
Jehovah, nimm meine Seele, denn ich bin nicht besser, als meine Väter. 5Und er legte sich nieder und schlief unter einem Ginsterstrauch, und siehe da, ein Engel rührte ihn an und sprach zu ihm: Stehe auf, iß! 6Und er blickte auf und siehe, zu seinen Häupten war ein auf glühenden Kohlen gebakkener Kuchen ▼▼ein Kuchen der Glühkohlen
und ein Krüglein mit Wasser. Und er aß und trank und legte sich wieder zu schlafen ▼▼kehrte zurück zu schlafen
. 7Und der Engel Jehovahs kehrte zurück zum zweitenmal und rührte ihn an und sprach: Stehe auf und iß, denn zuviel ist deines Weges für dich. 8Und er stand auf und aß und trank, und ging in Kraft dieser Speise vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte bis an den Berg Gottes, Choreb. 9Und er kam allda an eine Höhle und übernachtete daselbst; und siehe, das Wort Jehovahs geschah an ihn und sprach zu ihm: Was ist dir hier Elijahu? 10Er aber sprach: Ich habe geeifert ▼▼eifernd geeifert
für Jehovah, den Gott der Heerscharen, weil die Söhne Israels Deinen Bund verlassen, Deine Altäre eingerissen und Deine Propheten mit dem Schwert erwürgt haben, und ich allein bin übriggeblieben. Und sie trachten nach meiner Seele, sie zu nehmen. 11Und er sprach: Gehe hinaus und stehe auf dem Berg vor Jehovah, und siehe, Jehovah geht vorüber. Und ein großer und starker Wind, Berge zerberstend und Felsenklippen zerbrechend, vor Jehovah. Nicht im Winde war Jehovah. Und nach dem Winde ein Erdbeben; im Erdbeben war Jehovah nicht. 12Und nach dem Erdbeben ein Feuer. Nicht im Feuer war Jehovah; und nach dem Feuer eine Stimme, still, sanft ▼▼fein
. 13Und es geschah, als Elijahu dies hörte, da hüllte er sein Angesicht ein in seinen Mantel und ging hinaus und stand am Eingang der Höhle und siehe, ihm ward eine Stimme und sprach: Was ist dir hier, Elijahu? 14Und er sprach: Ich habe geeifert ▼▼eifernd geeifert
für Jehovah, den Gott der Heerscharen, weil die Söhne Israels Deinen Bund verlassen, Deine Altäre eingerissen und deine Propheten mit dem Schwert erwürgt haben, und ich allein übriggeblieben bin, und sie trachten nach meiner Seele, sie zu nehmen. 15Und Jehovah sprach zu ihm: Gehe, kehre zurück auf deinem Wege zur Wüste gegen Damask und komme und salbe Chasael zum Könige über Aram ▼▼d.h. Syrien
. 16Und Jehu, den Sohn des Nimschi, salbe zum König über Israel, und Elischa, den Sohn Schaphats von Abel-Mecholah, salbe zum Propheten an deiner Stelle. 17Und es soll geschehen, wer von dem Schwerte Chasaels entrinnt, den soll Jehu töten, und wer von dem Schwerte Jehus entrinnt, den soll Elischa töten. 18Und Ich lasse in Israel siebentausend verbleiben, alle Knie, die sich nicht dem Baal gebeugt, und allen Mund, der ihn nicht geküßt hat. 19Und er ging von dannen und fand Elischa, den Sohn Schaphats, und er pflügte mit zwölf Jochen vor ihm her, und er war bei dem zwölften. Und Elijahu ging zu ihm hinüber und warf seinen Mantel auf ihn. 20Und er verließ die Rinder und lief dem Elijahu nach und sprach: Laß mich doch meinen Vater und meine Mutter küssen, dann will ich dir nachgehen; und er sprach zu ihm: Gehe, kehre zurück, was habe ich dir getan? 21Und er kehrte zurück von ▼▼von hinter ihm
, und nahm das Joch Rinder und opferte es, und mit dem Rindergerät kochte er das Fleisch und gab es dem Volke, und sie aßen. Und er machte sich auf und ging Elijahu nach und bediente ihn.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
