زمان آن رسيده بود كه خداوند ايليا را در گردباد به آسمان ببرد. ايليا وقتی با اليشع از شهر جلجال خارج می‌شد، به او گفت: «تو در اينجا بمان، چون خداوند به من فرموده است به بيت‌ئيل بروم.» ولی اليشع جواب داد: «به خداوند زنده و به جان تو قسم، من از تو جدا نمی‌شوم!» پس با هم به بيت‌ئيل رفتند. 3گروهی از انبيا كه در بيت‌ئيل بودند به استقبال آنان آمده، به اليشع گفتند: «آيا می‌دانی كه امروز خداوند قصد دارد مولای تو را از تو بگيرد؟» اليشع جواب داد: «بلی، می‌دانم. ساكت باشيد!» 4سپس ايليا به اليشع گفت: «همين جا بمان، چون خداوند به من فرموده است به شهر اريحا بروم.» اما اليشع باز جواب داد: «به خداوند زنده و به جان تو قسم، من از تو جدا نمی‌شوم.» پس با هم به اريحا رفتند. 5در آنجا هم گروه انبيای اريحا نزد اليشع آمده، از او پرسيدند: «آيا خبر داری كه خداوند می‌خواهد امروز مولايت را از تو بگيرد؟» او گفت: «بلی، می‌دانم. ساكت باشيد!» 6 ▼▼ This verse is empty because in this translation its contents have been moved to form part of verse 2پادشاهان 2:7.

آنگاه ايليا به اليشع گفت: «در اينجا بمان، زيرا خداوند فرموده است به طرف رود اردن بروم.» اما اليشع مثل دفعات پيش جواب داد: «به خداوند زنده و به جان تو قسم، من از تو جدا نمی‌شوم.» پس با هم رفتند و در كنار رود اردن ايستادند، در حالی که پنجاه نفر از گروه انبيا از دور ايشان را تماشا می‌كردند. 8آنگاه ايليا ردای خود را پيچيده آن را به آب زد. آب رودخانه دو قسمت شد و ايليا و اليشع از راه خشک وسط آن عبور كردند. 9وقتی به آن سوس رود اردن رسيدند، ايليا به اليشع گفت: «پيش از آنكه به آسمان بروم بگو چه می‌خواهی تا برايت انجام دهم.» اليشع جواب داد: «دو برابر قدرت روح خود را به من بده!» 10ايليا گفت: «چيز دشواری خواستی. اگر وقتی به آسمان می‌روم مرا ببينی، آنگاه آنچه خواستی به تو داده خواهد شد؛ در غير اين صورت خواسته‌ات برآورده نخواهد شد.» 11در حالی که آن دو با هم قدم می‌زدند و صحبت می‌كردند، ناگهان عرابه‌ای آتشين كه اسبان آتشين آن را می‌كشيدند، ظاهر شد و آن دو را از هم جدا كرد و ايليا در گردباد به آسمان بالا رفت. 12اليشع اين را ديد و فرياد زد: «ای پدرم! ای پدرم! تو مدافع نيرومند اسرائيل بودی!» پس از آن اليشع ديگر او را نديد. سپس اليشع ردای خود را پاره كرد 13 ▼▼ This verse is empty because in this translation its contents have been moved to form part of verse 2پادشاهان 2:14.

و ردای ايليا را كه افتاده بود، برداشت و به كنار رود اردن بازگشت و آن را به آب زد و با صدای بلند گفت: «كجاست خداوند، خدای ايليا؟» آب دو قسمت شد و اليشع از راه خشک وسط آن عبور كرد. 15گروه انبيای اريحا چون اين واقعه را ديدند گفتند: «قدرت روح ايليا بر اليشع قرار گرفته است!» سپس به استقبالش رفتند و او را تعظيم كرده، گفتند: 16«اجازه بفرماييد پنجاه نفر از مردان قوی خود را به جستجوی مولای شما بفرستيم، شايد روح خداوند او را به كوهی يا دره‌ای برده باشد.» اليشع گفت: «نه، آنها را نفرستيد.» 17ولی آنها آنقدر اصرار كردند كه سرانجام اليشع با رفتن ايشان موافقت نمود. پس آن پنجاه نفر رفتند و سه روز جستجو كردند؛ ولی ايليا را نيافتند. 18وقتی بازگشتند، اليشع هنوز در اريحا بود و به ايشان گفت: «مگر به شما نگفتم نرويد؟» معجزات اليشع
19در اين هنگام، چند نفر از اهالی شهر اريحا نزد اليشع آمده، به او گفتند: «همانطور كه می‌دانيد شهر ما در جای خوبی قرار دارد، ولی آب آن سالم نيست و باعث بی‌حاصلی زمين ما می‌شود.» 20اليشع گفت: «در يک تشت تازه نمک بريزيد و نزد من بياوريد.» تشت را آوردند. 21اليشع به سر چشمهٔ شهر رفت و نمک را در آن ريخته، گفت: «خداوند اين آب را سالم كرده است تا پس از اين ديگر موجب بی‌حاصلی زمين و مرگ نشود.» 22آب آن شهر همانگونه كه اليشع گفته بود از آن پس سالم شد. 23اليشع از اريحا عازم بيت‌ئيل شد. در بين راه عده‌ای پسر نوجوان از شهری بيرون آمدند و او را به باد مسخره گرفته، گفتند: «ای كچل از اينجا برو. ای كچل از اينجا برو.» 24او نيز برگشت و به نام خداوند آنها را نفرين كرد. آنگاه دو خرس از جنگل بيرون آمدند و چهل و دو نفر از آنان را پاره كردند. 25سپس اليشع به كوه كرمل رفت و از آنجا به سامره بازگشت.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
