Rhydd o afael y Gyfraith Iddewig
1Frodyr a chwiorydd, dych chi'n bobl sy'n gyfarwydd â Chyfraith Duw, felly mae'n rhaid eich bod chi'n deall cymaint â hyn: dydy'r Gyfraith ddim ond yn cyfri pan mae rhywun yn dal yn fyw. 2Er enghraifft, mae Cyfraith Duw yn dweud fod gwraig briod i aros yn ffyddlon i'w gŵr tra mae'r gŵr hwnnw'n dal yn fyw. Ond, os ydy'r gŵr yn marw, dydy'r rheol ddim yn cyfri ddim mwy. 3Mae hyn yn golygu, os ydy gwraig yn gadael ei gŵr a mynd i fyw gyda dyn arall pan mae ei gŵr hi'n dal yn fyw, mae hi'n godinebu. Ond os ydy ei gŵr hi wedi marw, mae'r sefyllfa'n wahanol. Mae ganddi hi hawl i briodi dyn arall wedyn. 4Dyma beth dw i'n ei ddweud, ffrindiau – trwy farwolaeth y Meseia ar y groes dych chi hefyd wedi ‛marw‛ yn eich perthynas â'r Gyfraith. Bellach dych chi'n perthyn i un arall, sef i'r un gafodd ei godi yn ôl yn fyw ar ôl iddo farw. Felly dylai pobl weld ffrwyth hynny yn eich bywydau chi – ffrwyth fydd yn anrhydeddu Duw. 5Pan roedd yr hen natur ddrwg yn ein rheoli ni, roedd Cyfraith Duw yn dangos y nwydau pechadurus hynny oedd ar waith yn ein bywydau ni, a'r canlyniad oedd marwolaeth. 6Ond bellach, dŷn ni wedi ein gollwng yn rhydd o afael y Gyfraith. Dŷn ni wedi marw i beth oedd yn ein caethiwo ni o'r blaen. Dŷn ni'n rhydd i wasanaethu Duw yn ffordd newydd yr Ysbryd, ddim yn yr hen ffordd o geisio cadw at lythyren y ddeddf.Y frwydr yn erbyn pechod
7Felly beth mae hyn yn ei olygu? Ydw i'n awgrymu fod y Gyfraith roddodd Duw yn beth drwg? Wrth gwrs ddim! Heb y Gyfraith fyddwn i ddim yn gwybod fy mod i'n pechu. Sut fyddwn i'n gwybod fod chwennych yn beth drwg oni bai fod Cyfraith Duw yn dweud “Paid chwennych” a 8Ond yna roedd pechod yn gweld ei gyfle ac yn defnyddio'r gorchymyn i wneud i mi chwennych pob math o bethau drwg. Heb y Gyfraith mae pechod gystal â bod yn farw! 9Ar un adeg roeddwn i'n gallu byw yn ddigon hapus heb y Gyfraith. Ond wedyn cafodd y gorchymyn ei roi a dyma bechod yn codi ei ben hefyd. 10Roeddwn i'n gweld fy mod i'n haeddu marw. Roedd y gorchymyn oedd i roi bywyd i mi wedi dod â marwolaeth. 11Gwelodd pechod ei gyfle, a'm twyllo i. Fy nghondemnio i farwolaeth! 12Mae Cyfraith Duw yn sanctaidd, a'r gorchmynion yn dweud beth sy'n iawn ac yn dda. 13Felly ai y peth da yma wnaeth fy lladd i? Nage, wrth gwrs ddim! Y pechod mae'r peth da yn ei ddangos wnaeth fy lladd i. Felly beth mae'r gorchymyn yn ei wneud ydy dangos mor ofnadwy o ddrwg ydy pechod. 14Dŷn ni'n gwybod bod Cyfraith Duw yn dda ac yn ysbrydol. Fi ydy'r drwg! Fi sy'n gnawdol. Fi sydd wedi fy ngwerthu'n rhwym i bechod. 15Dw i ddim yn deall fy hun o gwbl. Yn lle gwneud beth dw i eisiau ei wneud, dw i'n cael fy hun yn gwneud beth dw i'n ei gasáu! 16Ac os dw i'n gwybod mod i'n gwneud y peth anghywir, dw i'n cytuno fod Cyfraith Duw yn dda. 17Mae fel taswn i fy hun wedi colli rheolaeth, a'r pechod sydd y tu mewn i mi wedi cymryd drosodd. 18Dw i'n gwybod yn iawn pa mor ddrwg ydw i y tu mewn! Yr hunan ydy popeth! Dw i eisiau byw yn dda, ond dw i'n methu! 19Yn lle gwneud y pethau da dw i eisiau eu gwneud, dw i'n dal ati i wneud y pethau drwg dw i ddim eisiau eu gwneud. 20Ac os dw i'n gwneud beth dw i ddim eisiau ei wneud, dim fi sy'n rheoli bellach – y pechod y tu mewn i mi sydd wedi cymryd drosodd. 21Felly, er fy mod i eisiau gwneud beth sy'n iawn, mae'r drwg yno yn cynnig ei hun i mi. 22Yn y bôn dw i'n cytuno gyda Cyfraith Duw. 23Ond mae rhyw ‛gyfraith‛ arall ar waith yn fy mywyd i – mae'n brwydro yn erbyn y Gyfraith dw i'n cytuno â hi, ac yn fy ngwneud i'n garcharor i bechod. Mae wedi cymryd drosodd yn llwyr! 24Dw i mewn picil go iawn! Oes yna ffordd allan? Pwy sy'n mynd i'm hachub i o ganlyniadau'r bywyd yma o bechu? 25Duw, diolch iddo! – o achos beth wnaeth ein Harglwydd ni, Iesu y Meseia. Felly dyma sut mae hi arna i: Dw i'n awyddus i wneud beth mae Cyfraith Duw'n ei ddweud, ond mae'r hunan pechadurus eisiau gwasanaethu'r ‛gyfraith‛ arall, sef pechod.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
