Y proffwyd: 1O! Mae'r aur wedi colli ei sglein.Dydy'r aur pur ddim yn edrych fel aur ddim mwy!
Mae gemau gwerthfawr ar chwâl
ar gornel pob stryd.
2Roedd plant gwerthfawr Seion
yn werth eu pwysau mewn aur.
Ond bellach – O! maen nhw mor ddiwerth
a photiau pridd wedi eu gwneud gan grochenydd!
3Mae hyd yn oed y siacal yn magu ei rai bach
ac yn eu bwydo ar y fron,
ond mae fy mhobl i yn esgeulus o'u plant
fel yr estrys yn yr anialwch. ▼

4Mae tafodau'r babanod yn glynu i dop eu cegau
am fod syched arnyn nhw.
Mae plant bach yn cardota am fwyd,
ond does neb yn rhoi unrhyw beth iddyn nhw.
5Mae'r bobl oedd yn arfer gwledda ar fwydydd moethus
yn marw o newyn ar y strydoedd.
Mae'r rhai gafodd eu magu mewn dillad crand ▼

6Mae fy mhobl wedi cael eu cosbi am eu pechod
fwy na gafodd Sodom am ei gwrthryfel.
Cafodd Sodom ei dinistrio'n sydyn gan Dduw,
heb i neb droi llaw i'w helpu. c
7Roedd arweinwyr Jerwsalem yn lanach na'r eira
ac wyn fel llaeth.
Roedd eu cyrff yn iach,
ac yn sgleinio fel cwrel neu saffir.
8Ond bellach mae eu hwynebau yn ddu fel parddu.
Does neb yn eu nabod nhw ar y strydoedd.
Dŷn nhw'n ddim byd ond croen ac asgwrn,
ac mae eu croen wedi sychu fel pren.
9Roedd y rhai gafodd eu lladd gyda'r cleddyf
yn fwy ffodus na'r rhai sy'n marw o newyn –
y rhai mae bywyd yn llifo'n araf ohonyn nhw,
am fod ganddyn nhw ddim i'w fwyta.
10Pan gafodd fy mhobl eu dinistrio,
roedd mamau, oedd unwaith yn dyner,
yn coginio eu plant i'w bwyta! d
11Dyma'r Arglwydd yn bwrw arnom ei lid i gyd.
Tywalltodd ei ddig ffyrnig
a chynnau tân
wnaeth losgi sylfeini Seion.
12Doedd dim un brenin wedi dychmygu,
na neb arall drwy'r byd i gyd,
y gallai unrhyw elyn neu ymosodwr
goncro dinas Jerwsalem.
13Ond dyna ddigwyddodd, am fod ei phroffwydi wedi pechu
a'i hoffeiriaid wedi gwrthryfela.
Nhw oedd gyfrifol am ladd pobl ddiniwed
yn y ddinas.
14Maen nhw'n crwydro'r strydoedd fel pobl ddall.
Does neb yn beiddio cyffwrdd eu dillad nhw,
am fod y gwaed wnaethon nhw ei dywallt
wedi eu gwneud nhw'n aflan.
15Mae pobl yn gweiddi arnyn nhw, “Cadwch draw! Dych chi'n aflan!
Ewch i ffwrdd! Peidiwch cyffwrdd ni!”
Felly dyma nhw'n ffoi ac maen nhw'n crwydro o gwmpas
o un wlad i'r llall heb gael croeso yn unman.
16Yr Arglwydd ei hun wnaeth eu gyrru ar chwâl,
a dydy e ddim yn gofalu amdanyn nhw ddim mwy.
Does neb yn dangos parch at yr offeiriaid,
a does neb yn malio am yr arweinwyr.
17Roedd ein llygaid ni wedi blino
wrth i ni wastraffu'n hamser yn edrych am help.
Roedden ni'n edrych allan o'r tŵr gwylio
yn disgwyl am wlad wnaeth ddim dod i'n hachub ni.
18Roedd ein gelynion yn ein hela bob cam o'r ffordd.
Doedd hi ddim yn saff i ni fynd allan i'r strydoedd hyd yn oed.
Roedd y diwedd yn agos; roedd ein dyddiau wedi eu rhifo;
oedd, roedd y diwedd wedi dod!
19Daeth y gelyn ar ein holau.
Roedden nhw'n gyflymach nag eryrod.
Roedden nhw'n ein hela ni ar y bryniau,
ac yn disgwyl i ymosod arnon ni yn yr anialwch.
20Cafodd anadl bywyd y genedl,
sef y brenin oedd wedi ei eneinio gan yr Arglwydd,
ei ddal mewn trap ganddyn nhw.
Dyma'r un oedden ni'n credu fyddai'n ein hamddiffyn,
a'n galluogi i oroesi yng nghanol y cenhedloedd.
21Chwarddwch chi am y tro, bobl Edom, e
a chi sy'n byw yn ngwlad Us,
ond mae'ch tro chi yn dod!
Bydd rhaid i chithau yfed o gwpan barn Duw,
nes byddwch chi'n feddw ac yn noeth.
22Dych chi wedi cael eich cosbi, bobl Jerwsalem,
ond fyddwch chi ddim yn aros yn gaethion yn hir iawn.
Ond bydd Duw yn eich cosbi chi am eich pechod, bobl Edom.
Bydd eich drygioni yn dod i'r amlwg.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
