Concro Jericho
1Roedd giatiau Jericho wedi eu cau'n dynn am fod ganddyn nhw ofn pobl Israel. Doedd neb yn cael mynd i mewn nac allan o'r ddinas. 2A dyma'r Arglwydd yn dweud wrth Josua, “Dw i'n mynd i roi dinas Jericho i ti. Byddi di'n concro ei brenin a'i byddin! 3Dw i eisiau i dy fyddin di fartsio o gwmpas Jericho un waith bob dydd am chwe diwrnod. 4Mae saith offeiriad i gerdded o flaen yr Arch, pob un ohonyn nhw yn cario corn hwrdd. ▼▼6:4 corn hwrdd Hebraeg, “shoffar”
Yna ar y seithfed diwrnod rhaid martsio o gwmpas y ddinas saith gwaith, gyda'r offeiriaid yn chwythu'r cyrn hwrdd. 5Wedyn pan fydd yr offeiriaid yn seinio un nodyn hir ar y cyrn hwrdd, rhaid i'r fyddin i gyd weiddi'n uchel. Bydd waliau'r ddinas yn syrthio, a bydd y fyddin yn gallu ymosod, a'r dynion i gyd yn gallu mynd yn syth i mewn i'r ddinas.” 6Felly dyma Josua fab Nwn yn galw'r offeiriaid ato, ac yn dweud wrthyn nhw, “Codwch Arch yr Ymrwymiad, a rhoi saith offeiriad i fynd o'i blaen, pob un ohonyn nhw yn cario corn hwrdd.” 7A dyma fe'n dweud wrth y milwyr, “Ymlaen! Martsiwch o gwmpas y ddinas, gyda grŵp o ddynion arfog yn mynd o flaen Arch yr Arglwydd.” 8Ar ôl i Josua ddweud hyn, dyma'r saith offeiriad yn dechrau symud, pob un yn chwythu ei gorn hwrdd wrth fynd. A dyma Arch Ymrwymiad yr Arglwydd yn dilyn. 9Roedd gwarchodlu o filwyr yn martsio o flaen a'r tu ôl i'r offeiriaid oedd yn chwythu'r cyrn hwrdd. 10Ond roedd Josua wedi dweud wrth y milwyr, “Peidiwch gweiddi o gwbl. Cadwch yn hollol dawel nes i mi ddweud wrthoch chi am weiddi – wedyn cewch weiddi nerth eich pen!” 11Felly dyma Josua yn gwneud iddyn nhw fynd ag Arch yr Arglwydd o gwmpas y ddinas un waith. Yna mynd yn ôl i'r gwersyll ac aros yno dros nos. 12Yn gynnar y bore wedyn dyma Josua yn codi, a chael yr offeiriaid i fynd allan eto, yn cario Arch yr Ymrwymiad. 13A dyma'r saith offeiriad yn mynd allan o flaen Arch yr Arglwydd, pob un yn chwythu ei gorn hwrdd. Roedd gwarchodlu o filwyr yn martsio o flaen a'r tu ôl i'r offeiriaid oedd yn chwythu'r cyrn hwrdd. 14Dyma nhw'n martsio o gwmpas y ddinas unwaith eto, ar yr ail ddiwrnod, ac yna mynd yn ôl i'r gwersyll. A dyma nhw'n gwneud yr un peth am chwe diwrnod. 15Yna ar y seithfed diwrnod dyma nhw'n codi gyda'r wawr, i fartsio o gwmpas y ddinas fel o'r blaen – ond y tro yma dyma nhw'n mynd o'i chwmpas hi saith gwaith. 16Y seithfed gwaith rownd, dyma'r offeiriaid yn chwythu un nodyn hir, a dyma Josua yn dweud wrth y bobl, “Gwaeddwch! Mae'r Arglwydd wedi rhoi'r ddinas i chi! 17Mae'r ddinas, a phawb a phopeth sydd ynddi, i gael ei dinistrio'n llwyr, fel offrwm i'r Arglwydd. Dim ond Rahab y butain a'r rhai sydd gyda hi yn ei thŷ sydd i gael byw, am ei bod hi wedi cuddio'r ysbiwyr wnaethon ni eu hanfon. 18A gwyliwch nad ydych chi'n cymryd unrhyw beth sydd i fod i gael ei ddinistrio. Os gwnewch chi hynny, byddwch chi'n rhoi pobl Israel mewn perygl, ac yn achosi dinistr ofnadwy. 19Yr Arglwydd sydd piau popeth wedi ei wneud o arian neu aur, pres neu haearn. Mae'r pethau hynny i gyd i'w cadw yn stordy'r Arglwydd.” 20Pan glywodd y bobl y corn hwrdd yn seinio dyma nhw'n gweiddi'n uchel. Syrthiodd wal y ddinas, a dyma'r milwyr yn mynd yn syth i mewn iddi ac yn ei choncro. 21Dyma nhw'n lladd pawb a phopeth byw – dynion a merched, hen ac ifanc, gwartheg, defaid ac asynnod. 22Ond roedd Josua wedi dweud wrth y ddau ddyn oedd wedi bod yn ysbïo'r wlad, “Ewch chi i dŷ y butain, a dod â hi a'i theulu allan yn fyw, fel roeddech chi wedi addo iddi.” 23Felly dyma'r ysbiwyr ifanc yn mynd i nôl Rahab, a'i thad a'i mam, ei brodyr, a phawb arall o'r theulu. Dyma nhw'n mynd â hi a'i theulu i gyd i le saff tu allan i wersyll Israel. 24Roedden nhw wedi llosgi'r ddinas a phopeth oedd ynddi, heblaw am y pethau aur ac arian, pres a haearn gafodd eu rhoi yn stordy tŷ'r Arglwydd. 25Ond roedd Josua wedi gadael i Rahab y butain fyw, a theulu ei thad a phawb arall oedd yn perthyn iddi. Mae ei theulu hi'n dal i fyw yn Israel hyd heddiw, am ei bod hi wedi cuddio'r dynion roedd Josua wedi eu hanfon i ysbïo ar Jericho. 26Pan gafodd dinas Jericho ei dinistrio roedd Josua wedi tyngu ar lw: “Bydd pwy bynnag sy'n ceisio ailadeiladu dinas Jericho yn cael ei felltithio gan yr Arglwydd. Bydd ei fab hynaf yn marw pan fydd e'n gosod y sylfaeni, a'i fab ifancaf yn marw pan fydd e'n rhoi'r giatiau yn eu lle!” ▼▼6:26 gw. 1 Brenhinoedd 16:34
27Roedd yr Arglwydd gyda Josua, ac roedd parch mawr ato drwy'r wlad i gyd.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
