Marwolaeth Lasarus
1Roedd dyn o'r enw Lasarus yn sâl. Roedd yn dod o Bethania, pentref Mair a'i chwaer Martha. 2(Mair oedd wedi tywallt persawr ar yr Arglwydd Iesu a sychu ei draed gyda'i gwallt, a'i brawd hi oedd Lasarus, oedd yn sâl yn ei wely.) 3Dyma'r chwiorydd yn anfon neges at Iesu, “Arglwydd, mae dy ffrind annwyl di'n sâl.” 4Pan gafodd y neges, meddai Iesu, “Dim marwolaeth fydd yn cael y gair olaf. Na, ei bwrpas ydy dangos mor wych ydy Duw. A bydd Mab Duw yn cael ei anrhydeddu drwyddo hefyd.” 5Roedd Iesu'n hoff iawn o Martha a'i chwaer a Lasarus. 6Ac eto, ar ôl clywed fod Lasarus yn sâl, arhosodd Iesu lle roedd e am ddau ddiwrnod arall. 7Yna dwedodd wrth ei ddisgyblion, “Gadewch inni fynd yn ôl i Jwdea.” 8“Ond Rabbi,” medden nhw, “roedd yr arweinwyr Iddewig yn Jwdea yn ceisio dy ladd gynnau! Wyt ti wir am fynd yn ôl yno?” 9Atebodd Iesu, “Onid oes deuddeg awr o olau dydd? Dydy'r rhai sy'n cerdded yn ystod y dydd ddim yn baglu, am fod ganddyn nhw olau'r haul. 10Mae rhywun yn baglu wrth gerdded yn y nos, am fod dim golau ganddo.” 11Yna dwedodd wrthyn nhw, “Mae ein ffrind Lasarus wedi syrthio i gysgu. Dw i i'n mynd yno i'w ddeffro.” 12“Arglwydd,” meddai'r disgyblion, “os ydy e'n cysgu, bydd yn gwella.” 13Ond marwolaeth oedd Iesu'n ei olygu wrth ‛gwsg‛. Roedd ei ddisgyblion wedi cael y syniad ei fod yn golygu gorffwys naturiol. 14Felly dyma Iesu'n dweud wrthyn nhw'n blaen, “Mae Lasarus wedi marw, 15a dw i'n falch fy mod i ddim yno er eich mwyn chi. Dw i eisiau i chi gredu. Gadewch inni fynd ato.” 16Yna dyma Tomos (oedd yn cael ei alw ‛Yr Efaill‛) yn dweud wrth y disgyblion eraill, “Dewch, gadewch i ni fynd i farw gydag e!”Iesu'n cysuro'r chwiorydd
17Pan gyrhaeddodd Iesu, deallodd fod Lasarus wedi cael ei gladdu ers pedwar diwrnod. 18Roedd Bethania llai na dwy filltir o Jerwsalem, 19ac roedd llawer o bobl o Jwdea wedi dod at Mair a Martha i gydymdeimlo â nhw ar golli eu brawd. 20Pan glywodd Martha fod Iesu'n dod, aeth allan i'w gyfarfod, ond arhosodd Mair yn y tŷ. 21“Arglwydd,” meddai Martha wrth Iesu, “taset ti wedi bod yma, fyddai fy mrawd ddim wedi marw. 22Ond er hynny, dw i'n dal i gredu fod Duw yn rhoi i ti beth bynnag wyt ti'n ei ofyn ganddo.” 23Dwedodd Iesu wrthi, “Bydd dy frawd yn dod yn ôl yn fyw.” 24Atebodd Martha, “Dw i'n gwybod y bydd yn dod yn ôl yn fyw adeg yr atgyfodiad ar y dydd olaf.” ▼▼11:24 y dydd olaf: Pan fydd Duw yn barnu pawb.
25Dwedodd Iesu wrthi, “Fi ydy'r atgyfodiad a'r bywyd. Bydd pawb sy'n credu ynof fi yn dod yn fyw, er iddyn nhw farw; 26a bydd y rhai sy'n fyw ac yn credu ynof fi ddim yn marw go iawn. Wyt ti'n credu hyn?” 27“Ydw, Arglwydd,” meddai Martha wrtho, “dw i'n credu mai ti ydy'r Meseia, Mab Duw, yr un oedd i ddod i'r byd.” 28Ar ôl iddi ddweud hyn, aeth yn ei hôl a dweud yn dawel fach wrth Mair, “Mae'r Athro yma, ac mae'n gofyn amdanat ti.” 29Pan glywodd Mair hyn, dyma hi'n codi ar frys i fynd ato. 30(Doedd Iesu ddim wedi cyrraedd y pentref eto, roedd yn dal yn y fan lle roedd Martha wedi ei gyfarfod.) 31Roedd pobl o Jwdea wedi bod gyda Mair yn y tŷ yn cydymdeimlo gyda hi. Pan welon nhw hi'n codi mor sydyn i fynd allan, dyma nhw'n mynd ar ei hôl, gan feddwl ei bod hi'n mynd at y bedd i alaru. 32Ond pan gyrhaeddodd Mair Iesu a'i weld, syrthiodd wrth ei draed a dweud, “Arglwydd, taset ti wedi bod yma, fyddai fy mrawd ddim wedi marw.” 33Wrth ei gweld hi'n wylofain yn uchel, a'r bobl o Jwdea oedd yno yn wylofain gyda hi, cynhyrfodd Iesu drwyddo ac roedd yn ddig. 34“Ble dych chi wedi ei gladdu?” gofynnodd. “Tyrd i weld, Arglwydd,” medden nhw. 35Roedd Iesu yn ei ddagrau. 36“Edrychwch gymaint oedd yn ei garu e!” meddai'r bobl oedd yno. 37Ond roedd rhai ohonyn nhw'n dweud, “Oni allai hwn, roddodd ei olwg i'r dyn dall yna, gadw Lasarus yn fyw?” Iesu'n codi Lasarus
38Roedd Iesu'n dal wedi cynhyrfu pan ddaeth at y bedd. (Ogof oedd y bedd, a charreg wedi ei gosod dros geg yr ogof.) 39“Symudwch y garreg,” meddai. Ond dyma Martha, chwaer y dyn oedd wedi marw, yn dweud “Arglwydd, bydd yn drewi bellach; mae wedi ei gladdu ers pedwar diwrnod.” 40Meddai Iesu wrthi, “Wnes i ddim dweud wrthot ti y byddi di'n gweld mor wych ydy Duw, dim ond i ti gredu?” 41Felly dyma nhw'n symud y garreg. Yna edrychodd Iesu i fyny, a dweud, “Dad, diolch i ti am wrando arna i. 42Dw i fy hun yn gwybod dy fod ti'n gwrando arna i bob amser, ond dw i'n dweud hyn er mwyn y bobl sy'n sefyll yma, iddyn nhw gredu mai ti sydd wedi fy anfon i.” 43Ar ôl dweud hyn, dyma Iesu'n gweiddi'n uchel, “Lasarus, tyrd allan!” 44A dyma'r dyn oedd wedi marw'n dod allan. Roedd ei freichiau a'i goesau wedi eu rhwymo gyda stribedi o liain, ac roedd cadach am ei wyneb. “Tynnwch nhw i ffwrdd” meddai Iesu, “a'i ollwng yn rhydd.”Y cynllwyn i ladd Iesu
(Mathew 26:1-5; Marc 14:1-2; Luc 22:1,2) 45Felly daeth llawer o bobl Jwdea i gredu ynddo – y rhai oedd wedi dod i ymweld â Mair, a gweld beth wnaeth Iesu. 46Ond aeth rhai ohonyn nhw at y Phariseaid a dweud beth oedd Iesu wedi ei wneud. 47A dyma'r prif offeiriaid a'r Phariseaid hynny yn galw cyfarfod o'r Sanhedrin Iddewig. “Pam ydyn ni ddim yn gwneud rhywbeth?” medden nhw. “Mae'r dyn yma'n gwneud llawer o arwyddion gwyrthiol. 48Os wnawn ni adael iddo fynd yn ei flaen, bydd pawb yn credu ynddo! Bydd y Rhufeiniaid yn dod ac yn dinistrio ein teml a'n gwlad ni.” 49Ond dyma un ohonyn nhw, Caiaffas, oedd yn archoffeiriad y flwyddyn honno, yn dweud fel hyn: “Dych chi mor ddwl! 50Onid ydy'n well i un person farw dros y bobl nag i'r genedl gyfan gael ei dinistrio?” 51(Doedd e ddim yn dweud hyn ohono'i hun. Beth ddigwyddodd oedd ei fod e, oedd yn archoffeiriad y flwyddyn honno, wedi proffwydo y byddai Iesu'n marw dros y genedl. 52A dim dros y genedl Iddewig yn unig, ond hefyd dros holl blant Duw ym mhobman, er mwyn eu casglu nhw at ei gilydd a'u gwneud nhw'n un.) 53Felly o'r diwrnod hwnnw ymlaen roedden nhw yn cynllwynio i ladd Iesu. 54Felly doedd Iesu ddim yn mynd o gwmpas yn gyhoeddus ymhlith pobl Jwdea wedi hynny. Gadawodd yr ardal a mynd i bentref o'r enw Effraim oedd wrth ymyl yr anialwch. Buodd yn aros yno gyda'i ddisgyblion. 55Pan oedd y Pasg Iddewig yn agosáu, roedd llawer o bobl yn mynd i Jerwsalem i gadw'r ddefod o ymolchi eu hunain yn seremonïol i baratoi ar gyfer y Pasg ei hun. 56Roedden nhw yn edrych am Iesu drwy'r adeg, ac yn sefyllian yng nghwrt y deml a gofyn i'w gilydd, “Beth dych chi'n feddwl? Dydy e ddim yn mynd i ddod i'r Ŵyl, siawns!” 57(Roedd y prif offeiriaid a'r Phariseaid wedi gorchymyn fod unrhyw un oedd yn gwybod lle roedd Iesu i ddweud wrthyn nhw, er mwyn iddo gael ei arestio.)

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
