Mae addoli eilun-dduwiau wedi dod â dinistr
1Bobl Israel, gwrandwch beth mae'r Arglwydd yn ei ddweud wrthoch chi: “Peidiwch gwneud yr un fath â'r gwledydd paganaidd.Peidiwch cymryd sylw o ‛arwyddion‛ y sêr a'r planedau,
a gadael i bethau felly eich dychryn chi,
fel maen nhw'n dychryn y gwledydd hynny.
3Dydy arferion paganaidd felly yn dda i ddim!
Mae coeden yn cael ei thorri i lawr yn y goedwig,
ac mae cerfiwr yn gwneud eilun ohoni gyda chŷn.
4Wedyn mae'n ei addurno gydag arian ac aur,
ac yn defnyddio morthwyl a hoelion i'w ddal yn ei le,
rhag iddo syrthio!
5Mae'r eilunod yma fel bwganod brain mewn gardd lysiau.
Allan nhw ddim siarad;
allan nhw ddim cerdded,
felly mae'n rhaid eu cario nhw i bobman.
Peidiwch bod a'u hofn nhw –
allan nhw wneud dim niwed i chi,
na gwneud dim i'ch helpu chi chwaith!”

Ti ydy'r Duw mawr,
sy'n enwog am dy fod mor bwerus!
7Ti ydy Brenin y cenhedloedd,
felly dylai pawb dy addoli di –
dyna wyt ti'n ei haeddu!
Dydy pobl fwya doeth y gwledydd i gyd
a'r teyrnasoedd ddim byd tebyg i ti.
8Pobl wyllt a dwl ydyn nhw,
yn meddwl y gall eilun pren eu dysgu nhw! ▼

9Maen nhw'n dod ag arian wedi ei guro o Tarshish,
ac aur pur o Wffas, i orchuddio'r delwau.
Dim ond gwaith llaw cerfiwr a gof aur ydy'r rheiny;
a'u dillad glas a phorffor yn waith teiliwr medrus!
10Yr Arglwydd ydy'r unig Dduw go iawn –
y Duw byw, sy'n frenin am byth!
Pan mae e'n ddig mae'r ddaear yn crynu.
Mae'r cenhedloedd yn cuddio oddi wrth ei ddicter.”

(Jeremeia 51:15-19) 12Yr Arglwydd ddefnyddiodd ei rym i greu y ddaear.Fe ydy'r un osododd y byd yn ei le trwy ei ddoethineb,
a lledu'r awyr trwy ei ddeall.
13Mae sŵn ei lais yn gwneud i'r awyr daranu.
Mae'n gwneud i gymylau ddod i'r golwg ar y gorwel.
Mae'n gwneud i fellt fflachio yng nghanol y glaw.
Mae'n dod â'r gwynt allan o'i stordai i chwythu.
14Mae pobl mor ddwl! Dŷn nhw'n gwybod dim byd!
Bydd yr eilunod yn codi cywilydd ar y rhai a'i gwnaeth nhw.
Duwiau ffals ydy'r delwau;
does dim bywyd ynddyn nhw.
15Dŷn nhw'n dda i ddim! Pethau i wneud sbort ohonyn nhw!
Mae'r amser yn dod pan gân nhw eu cosbi a'u dinistrio.
16Dydy Duw Jacob ddim byd tebyg iddyn nhw.
Fe ydy'r un wnaeth greu pob peth,
ac mae pobl Israel yn bobl sbesial iddo.
Yr Arglwydd holl-bwerus ydy ei enw!
Bydd y gelyn yn caethgludo
17Mae'r gelyn o'ch cwmpas yn gwarchae ▼▼10:17 gwarchae Pan oedd byddin yn ymosod ar ddinas roedd yn amgylchynu'r ddinas a'i thorri i ffwrdd fel bod neb yn gallu mynd i mewn nac allan.

18Ie, dyma mae'r Arglwydd yn ei ddweud:
Dw i'n mynd i daflu'r bobl allan o'r wlad yma, nawr!
Maen nhw'n mynd i fod mewn helbul go iawn,
a byddan nhw'n teimlo'r peth i'r byw.
19Meddai Jerwsalem, “Mae ar ben arna i!
Dw i wedi fy anafu'n ddifrifol.
Roeddwn i'n arfer meddwl, ‘Salwch ydy e
a bydda i'n dod drosto.’
20Mae fy mhabell wedi ei dryllio,
a'r rhaffau i gyd wedi eu torri.
Mae fy mhlant wedi mynd,
a fyddan nhw ddim yn dod yn ôl.
Does neb ar ôl i godi'r babell eto,
nac i hongian y llenni tu mewn iddi.

23Arglwydd, dw i'n gwybod na all pobl reoli eu bywydau.
Dŷn nhw ddim yn gallu trefnu beth sy'n mynd i ddigwydd.
24Felly, Arglwydd, cywira ni, ond paid bod yn rhy galed.
Paid gwylltio, neu bydd dim ohonon ni ar ôl.
25Tywallt dy lid ar y bobloedd sydd ddim yn dy nabod,
a'r llwythau hynny sydd ddim yn dy addoli.
Nhw ydy'r rhai sydd wedi llarpio pobl Jacob –
wedi eu dinistrio nhw'n llwyr a gadael y wlad yn adfeilion.”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
