Melchisedec yr offeiriad
1Brenin Salem oedd Melchisedec, ac offeiriad i'r Duw Goruchaf. Pan oedd Abraham ar ei ffordd adre ar ôl gorchfygu nifer o frenhinoedd mewn brwydr, daeth Melchisedec ato. Dyma Melchisedec yn bendithio Abraham, 2a dyma Abraham wedyn yn rhoi un rhan o ddeg o'r cwbl oedd wedi ei ennill i Melchisedec. a Ystyr Melchisedec ydy ‛y brenin cyfiawn‛; ac mae'n ‛frenin heddwch‛ hefyd, am mai dyna ydy ystyr ‛Brenin Salem‛. 3Dŷn ni ddim yn gwybod pwy oedd ei dad a'i fam, a does dim sôn am ei achau na dyddiad ei eni na'i farw. Felly, mae fel darlun o Fab Duw, sy'n aros yn offeiriad am byth. 4Meddyliwch mor bwysig oedd Melchisedec! Rhoddodd hyd yn oed Abraham, tad ein cenedl ni, un rhan o ddeg o beth oedd wedi ei ennill yn y frwydr iddo! 5Dŷn ni'n gwybod fod y Gyfraith Iddewig yn dweud wrth yr offeiriaid, sy'n ddisgynyddion i Lefi, gasglu un rhan o ddeg o beth sydd gan y bobl. b Ond cofiwch mai casglu maen nhw gan bobl eu cenedl eu hunain – disgynyddion Abraham. 6Doedd Melchisedec ddim yn perthyn i Lefi, ac eto rhoddodd Abraham un rhan o ddeg iddo. A Melchisedec fendithiodd Abraham, yr un oedd Duw wedi addo pethau mor fawr iddo. 7Does dim rhaid dweud fod yr un sy'n bendithio yn fwy na'r person sy'n derbyn y fendith. 8Yn achos yr offeiriaid Iddewig, mae'r un rhan o ddeg yn cael ei gasglu gan ddynion sy'n siŵr o farw; ond yn achos Melchisedec mae'n cael ei gasglu gan un maen nhw'n dweud sy'n fyw! 9Gallech chi hyd yn oed ddweud fod disgynyddion Lefi (sy'n casglu'r un rhan o ddeg), wedi talu un rhan o ddeg i Melchisedec drwy Abraham. 10Er bod Lefi ddim wedi cael ei eni pan aeth Melchisedec allan i gyfarfod Abraham, roedd yr had y cafodd ei eni ohono yno, yng nghorff ei gyndad!Iesu fel Melchisedec
11Mae'r Gyfraith Iddewig yn dibynnu ar waith yr offeiriaid sy'n perthyn i urdd Lefi. Os oedd y drefn offeiriadol hon yn cyflawni bwriadau Duw yn berffaith pam roedd angen i offeiriad arall ddod? Pam wnaeth Duw anfon un oedd yr un fath â Melchisedec yn hytrach nag un oedd yn perthyn i urdd Lefi ac Aaron? 12Ac os ydy'r drefn offeiriadol yn newid, rhaid i'r gyfraith newid hefyd. 13Mae'r un dŷn ni'n sôn amdano yn perthyn i lwyth gwahanol, a does neb o'r llwyth hwnnw wedi gwasanaethu fel offeiriad wrth yr allor erioed. 14Mae pawb yn gwybod mai un o ddisgynyddion llwyth Jwda oedd ein Harglwydd ni, a wnaeth Moses ddim dweud fod gan y llwyth hwnnw unrhyw gysylltiad â'r offeiriadaeth! 15Ac mae beth dŷn ni'n ei ddweud yn gliriach fyth pan ddeallwn ni fod yr offeiriad newydd yn debyg i Melchisedec. 16Ddaeth hwn ddim yn offeiriad am fod y rheolau yn dweud hynny (am ei fod yn perthyn i lwyth arbennig). Na, ond am fod nerth y bywyd na ellir ei ddinistrio ynddo. 17A dyna mae'r salmydd yn ei ddweud: “Rwyt ti'n offeiriad am byth,yr un fath â Melchisedec.” c
18Felly mae'r drefn gyntaf yn cael ei rhoi o'r neilltu am ei bod yn methu gwneud beth oedd ei angen. 19Wnaeth y Gyfraith Iddewig wneud dim byd yn berffaith. Ond mae gobaith gwell wedi ei roi i ni yn ei lle. A dyna sut dŷn ni'n mynd at Dduw bellach. 20Ac wrth gwrs, roedd Duw wedi mynd ar lw y byddai'n gwneud hyn! Pan oedd eraill yn cael eu gwneud yn offeiriaid doedd dim sôn am unrhyw lw, 21ond pan ddaeth Iesu yn offeiriad dyma Duw yn tyngu llw. Dwedodd wrtho: “Mae'r Arglwydd wedi tyngu llw
a fydd e ddim yn newid ei feddwl:
‘Rwyt ti yn offeiriad am byth.’” d
22Mae hyn yn dangos fod yr ymrwymiad newydd mae Iesu'n warant ohono gymaint gwell na'r hen un. 23Hefyd, dan yr hen drefn roedd llawer iawn o offeiriaid. Roedd pob un ohonyn nhw'n marw, ac wedyn roedd rhaid i rywun arall gymryd y gwaith drosodd! 24Ond mae Iesu yn fyw am byth, ac mae'n aros yn offeiriad am byth. 25Felly mae Iesu'n gallu achub un waith ac am byth y bobl hynny mae'n eu cynrychioli o flaen Duw! Ac mae e hefyd yn fyw bob amser i bledio ar eu rhan nhw. 26Dyna'r math o Archoffeiriad sydd ei angen arnon ni – un sydd wedi cysegru ei hun yn llwyr, heb bechu o gwbl na gwneud dim o'i le, ac sydd bellach wedi ei osod ar wahân i ni bechaduriaid. Mae e yn y lle mwya anrhydeddus sydd yn y nefoedd. 27Yn wahanol i bob archoffeiriad arall, does dim rhaid i hwn gyflwyno'r un aberthau ddydd ar ôl dydd. Roedd rhaid i'r archoffeiriaid eraill gyflwyno aberth dros eu pechodau eu hunain yn gyntaf ac yna dros bechodau'r bobl. Ond aberthodd Iesu ei hun dros ein pechodau ni un waith ac am byth. 28Dan drefn y Gyfraith Iddewig dynion cyffredin gyda'i holl wendidau sy'n cael eu penodi'n archoffeiriaid. Ond mae'r cyfeiriad at Dduw yn mynd ar lw wedi ei roi ar ôl y Gyfraith Iddewig, ac yn sôn am Dduw yn penodi ei Fab yn Archoffeiriad, ac mae hwn wedi gwneud popeth oedd angen ei wneud un waith ac am byth.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
