2Dyma hanes teulu Jacob: Pan oedd Joseff yn 17 oed, roedd gyda'i frodyr yn gofalu am y preiddiau. Llanc ifanc oedd e, yn gweithio gyda meibion Bilha a Silpa, gwragedd ei dad. Ond roedd yn cario straeon am ei frodyr i'w dad. 3Roedd Israel yn caru Joseff fwy na'i feibion eraill i gyd, am fod Joseff wedi cael ei eni pan oedd e'n hen ddyn. Ac roedd wedi gwneud côt sbesial iddo. 4Ond roedd ei frodyr yn ei gasáu, am fod eu tad yn caru Joseff fwy na nhw. Doedden nhw ddim yn gallu dweud run gair caredig wrtho. 5Ond wedyn cafodd Joseff freuddwyd. Pan ddwedodd wrth ei frodyr am y freuddwyd roedden nhw'n ei gasáu e fwy fyth. 6“Gwrandwch ar y freuddwyd yma ges i,” meddai wrthyn nhw. 7“Roedden ni i gyd wrthi'n rhwymo ysgubau mewn cae. Yn sydyn dyma fy ysgub i yn codi ac yn sefyll yn syth. A dyma'ch ysgubau chi yn casglu o'i chwmpas ac yn ymgrymu iddi!” 8“Wyt ti'n meddwl dy fod ti'n frenin neu rywbeth?” medden nhw. “Wyt ti'n mynd i deyrnasu droson ni?” Ac roedden nhw'n ei gasáu e fwy fyth o achos y freuddwyd a beth ddwedodd e wrthyn nhw. 9Wedyn cafodd Joseff freuddwyd arall, a dwedodd am honno wrth ei frodyr hefyd. “Dw i wedi cael breuddwyd arall,” meddai. “Roedd yr haul a'r lleuad ac un deg un o sêr yn ymgrymu o'm blaen i.” 10Ond pan ddwedodd wrth ei dad a'i frodyr am y freuddwyd, dyma'i dad yn dweud y drefn wrtho. “Sut fath o freuddwyd ydy honna?” meddai wrtho. “Wyt ti'n meddwl fy mod i a dy fam a dy frodyr yn mynd i ddod ac ymgrymu o dy flaen di?” 11Roedd ei frodyr yn genfigennus ohono. Ond roedd ei dad yn cadw'r peth mewn cof.Joseff yn cael ei werthu a'i gymryd i'r Aifft
12Roedd ei frodyr wedi mynd ag anifeiliaid eu tad i bori wrth ymyl Sichem. 13A dyma Israel yn dweud wrth Joseff, “Mae dy frodyr wedi mynd â'r praidd i bori i Sichem. Dw i eisiau i ti fynd yno i'w gweld nhw.” “Iawn, dw i'n barod,” meddai Joseff. 14“Dos i weld sut maen nhw, a sut mae'r praidd,” meddai ei dad wrtho. “Wedyn tyrd yn ôl i ddweud wrtho i.” Felly dyma Joseff yn mynd o ddyffryn Hebron i Sichem. Pan gyrhaeddodd Sichem 15dyma ryw ddyn yn dod ar ei draws yn crwydro yn y wlad. Gofynnodd y dyn iddo, “Am beth ti'n chwilio?” 16“Dw i'n edrych am fy mrodyr,” meddai Joseff. “Alli di ddweud wrtho i ble maen nhw wedi mynd â'r praidd i bori?” 17A dyma'r dyn yn ateb, “Maen nhw wedi gadael yr ardal yma. Clywais nhw'n dweud eu bod yn mynd i Dothan.” Felly dyma Joseff yn mynd ar eu holau, ac yn dod o hyd iddyn nhw yn Dothan. 18Roedden nhw wedi ei weld yn dod o bell. Cyn iddo gyrraedd dyma nhw'n cynllwynio i'w ladd. 19“Edrychwch, mae'r breuddwydiwr mawr yn dod!” medden nhw. 20“Gadewch i ni ei ladd. Gallwn ei daflu i mewn i bydew, a dweud fod anifail gwyllt wedi ei ladd. Cawn weld beth ddaw o'i freuddwydion wedyn!” 21Dyma Reuben yn digwydd clywed beth ddwedon nhw, a llwyddodd i achub bywyd Joseff. “Na, gadewch i ni beidio â'i ladd,” 22meddai wrthyn nhw. “Peidiwch tywallt gwaed. Taflwch e i mewn i'r pydew yma yn yr anialwch, ond peidiwch gwneud niwed iddo.” (Bwriad Reuben oedd achub Joseff, a mynd ag e yn ôl at ei dad.) 23Felly pan ddaeth Joseff at ei frodyr, dyma nhw'n tynnu ei got oddi arno (y got sbesial oedd e'n ei gwisgo). 24Ac wedyn dyma nhw'n ei daflu i mewn i bydew. (Roedd y pydew yn wag – doedd dim dŵr ynddo.) 25Pan oedden nhw'n eistedd i lawr i fwyta, dyma nhw'n gweld carafan o Ismaeliaid yn teithio o gyfeiriad Gilead. Roedd ganddyn nhw gamelod yn cario gwm balm, a myrr i lawr i'r Aifft. 26A dyma Jwda'n dweud wrth ei frodyr, “Dŷn ni'n ennill dim trwy ladd ein brawd a cheisio cuddio'r ffaith. 27Dewch, gadewch i ni ei werthu e i'r Ismaeliaid acw. Ddylen ni ddim gwneud niwed iddo. Wedi'r cwbl mae yn frawd i ni.” A dyma'r brodyr yn cytuno. 28Felly pan ddaeth y masnachwyr o Midian heibio, dyma nhw'n tynnu Joseff allan o'r pydew, a'i werthu i'r Ismaeliaid am 20 darn o arian. A dyma'r Ismaeliaid yn mynd â Joseff gyda nhw i'r Aifft. 29Yn nes ymlaen dyma Reuben yn dod yn ôl at y pydew. Pan welodd fod Joseff ddim yno dyma fe'n rhwygo ei ddillad. 30Aeth at ei frodyr, a dweud, “Mae'r bachgen wedi mynd! Be dw i'n mynd i'w wneud nawr?” 31Yna dyma nhw'n cymryd côt Joseff, lladd gafr ac yna trochi'r got yng ngwaed yr anifail. 32Wedyn dyma nhw'n mynd â'r got sbesial at eu tad, a dweud, “Daethon ni o hyd i hon. Pwy sydd piau hi? Ai côt dy fab di ydy hi neu ddim?” 33Dyma fe'n nabod y got. “Ie, côt fy mab i ydy hi! Mae'n rhaid bod anifail gwyllt wedi ymosod arno a'i rwygo'n ddarnau!” 34A dyma Jacob yn rhwygo ei ddillad a gwisgo sachliain. A buodd yn galaru am ei fab am amser hir. 35Roedd ei feibion a'i ferched i gyd yn ceisio ei gysuro, ond roedd yn gwrthod codi ei galon. “Dw i'n mynd i fynd i'r bedd yn dal i alaru am fy mab,” meddai. Ac roedd yn beichio crïo. 36Yn y cyfamser roedd y Midianiaid wedi gwerthu Joseff yn yr Aifft. Cafodd ei werthu i Potiffar, un o swyddogion y Pharo a chapten ei warchodlu.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
