Genesis 29
Jacob yn cyrraedd Padan-aram
1Dyma Jacob yn bwrw ymlaen ar ei daith, ac yn dod i wlad pobl y dwyrain. 2Daeth ar draws pydew dŵr yng nghanol y wlad, a thri praidd o ddefaid yn gorwedd o gwmpas y pydew. Dyna ble roedd yr anifeiliaid yn cael dŵr. Roedd carreg fawr yn gorwedd ar geg y pydew. 3Pan fyddai'r preiddiau i gyd wedi cyrraedd yno, byddai'r bugeiliaid yn symud y garreg a rhoi dŵr i'r defaid. Wedyn bydden nhw'n rhoi'r garreg yn ôl ar geg y pydew. 4Gofynnodd Jacob iddyn nhw, “O ble dych chi'n dod, frodyr?” “O Haran,” medden nhw. 5“Ydych chi'n nabod Laban fab Nachor?” holodd Jacob. “Ydyn,” medden nhw. 6“Sut mae e'n cadw?” gofynnodd Jacob. “Mae e'n cadw'n dda,” medden nhw. “Edrych, dyma Rachel, ei ferch, yn cyrraedd gyda'i defaid.” 7Yna dyma Jacob yn dweud wrthyn nhw, “Edrychwch, mae'n dal yn olau dydd. Dydy hi ddim yn amser casglu'r anifeiliaid at ei gilydd eto. Rhowch ddŵr iddyn nhw, a mynd â nhw allan i bori am ychydig mwy.” 8“Ond allwn ni ddim gwneud hynny nes bydd y preiddiau i gyd wedi cyrraedd,” medden nhw. “Dyna pryd byddwn ni'n symud y garreg oddi ar geg y pydew ac yn rhoi dŵr i'r defaid.” 9Tra oedd e'n dal i siarad â nhw, dyma Rachel yn cyrraedd gyda defaid ei thad. Hi oedd yn gofalu amdanyn nhw. 10Pan welodd Jacob Rachel, merch ei ewythr Laban, gyda'r defaid, dyma fe'n symud y garreg oddi ar geg y pydew, a rhoi dŵr i braidd ei ewythr. 11Yna aeth at Rachel, a'i chyfarch gyda chusan. Roedd yn methu peidio crïo. 12Dwedodd wrth Rachel ei fod yn nai i'w thad, ac yn fab i Rebeca. A dyma Rachel yn rhedeg i ddweud wrth ei thad. 13Pan glywodd Laban y newyddion am Jacob, mab ei chwaer, rhuthrodd allan i'w gyfarfod. Rhoddodd groeso brwd iddo drwy ei gofleidio a'i gusanu, ac aeth ag e i'w dŷ. Wedyn dwedodd Jacob bopeth wrth Laban. 14“Rwyt ti wir yn un o nheulu i!” meddai Laban.Jacob yn priodi merched Laban
Roedd Jacob wedi aros gyda Laban am fis, 15ac meddai Laban wrtho, “Ddylet ti ddim bod yn gweithio i mi am ddim am dy fod yn perthyn i mi. Dywed beth rwyt ti eisiau'n gyflog.” 16Roedd gan Laban ddwy ferch – Lea, yr hynaf, a Rachel, yr ifancaf. 17Roedd gan Lea lygaid hyfryd ▼▼29:17 ystyr yr Hebraeg yn aneglur
, ond roedd Rachel yn ferch siapus ac yn wirioneddol hardd. 18Roedd Jacob wedi syrthio mewn cariad hefo Rachel, ac meddai wrth Laban, “Gwna i weithio i ti am saith mlynedd os ca i briodi Rachel, dy ferch ifancaf.” 19“Byddai'n well gen i ei rhoi hi i ti nag i unrhyw ddyn arall,” meddai Laban. “Aros di yma i weithio i mi.” 20Felly dyma Jacob yn gweithio am saith mlynedd er mwyn cael priodi Rachel. Ond roedd fel ychydig ddyddiau i Jacob am ei fod yn ei charu hi gymaint. 21Ar ddiwedd y saith mlynedd dyma Jacob yn dweud wrth Laban, “Dw i wedi gweithio am yr amser wnaethon ni gytuno, felly rho fy ngwraig i mi, i mi gael cysgu hefo hi.” 22Felly dyma Laban yn trefnu parti i ddathlu, ac yn gwahodd pobl y cylch i gyd i'r parti. 23Ond ar ddiwedd y noson daeth Laban â'i ferch Lea at Jacob, a dyma Jacob yn cysgu gyda hi. 24(Ac roedd Laban wedi rhoi ei forwyn Silpa i'w ferch Lea i fod yn forwyn iddi hi.) 25Y bore wedyn cafodd Jacob sioc – dyna ble roedd Lea yn gorwedd gydag e! Aeth at Laban, “Beth yn y byd rwyt ti wedi ei wneud i mi?” meddai Jacob. “Roeddwn i wedi gweithio i ti er mwyn cael Rachel. Pam wyt ti wedi fy nhwyllo i?” 26Ac meddai Laban, “Mae'n groes i'r arferiad yn ein gwlad ni i'r ferch ifancaf briodi o flaen yr hynaf. 27Disgwyl nes bydd yr wythnos yma o ddathlu drosodd, a gwna i roi Rachel i ti hefyd os gwnei di weithio i mi am saith mlynedd arall.” 28Felly dyna wnaeth Jacob. Arhosodd nes oedd yr wythnos o ddathlu drosodd, ac wedyn dyma Laban yn rhoi ei ferch Rachel iddo hefyd. 29(A rhoddodd ei forwyn Bilha i'w ferch Rachel i fod yn forwyn iddi hi.) 30Felly dyma Jacob yn cysgu gyda Rachel. Roedd yn caru Rachel fwy na Lea. A gweithiodd i Laban am saith mlynedd arall. Enwau Plant Jacob
31Pan welodd yr Arglwydd fod Jacob ddim yn caru Lea gymaint a Rachel, rhoddodd blant i Lea. Ond roedd Rachel yn methu cael plant. 32Dyma Lea'n beichiogi ac yn cael mab ac yn ei alw'n Reuben ▼▼29:32 h.y. Edrychwch! mab!
. “Mae'r Arglwydd wedi gweld fy mod i'n cael fy nhrin yn wael,” meddai. “Bydd fy ngŵr yn siŵr o ngharu i nawr!” 33A dyma hi'n beichiogi eto ac yn cael mab arall. “Mae'r Arglwydd wedi clywed mod i ddim yn cael fy ngharu, ac mae wedi rhoi mab arall i mi,” meddai. A dyma hi'n ei alw'n Simeon ▼▼29:33 h.y. clywed.
. 34Dyma hi'n beichiogi eto a cael mab arall. “Bydd fy ngŵr yn siŵr o deimlo'n un hefo fi nawr,” meddai. “Dw i wedi rhoi tri mab iddo.” A dyna pam wnaeth hi ei alw'n Lefi ▼▼29:34 h.y. uniad.
. 35A dyma hi'n beichiogi ac yn cael mab arall eto. “Y tro yma dw i'n mynd i foli'r Arglwydd,” meddai hi. A dyna pam wnaeth hi ei alw'n Jwda ▼▼29:35 h.y. moli
. Ac wedyn dyma hi'n stopio cael plant.
