Ezra 10
Y bobl yn cyffesu eu bod wedi pechu
1Tra roedd Esra yn gweddïo ac yn cyffesu, ac yn crïo ar ei hyd ar lawr o flaen teml Dduw, roedd tyrfa fawr o bobl Israel – dynion, merched, a phlant – wedi casglu o'i gwmpas. Roedden nhw i gyd yn beichio crïo. 2A dyma Shechaneia fab Iechiel, o deulu Elam, yn dweud wrth Esra: “Dŷn ni wedi bod yn anffyddlon i Dduw yn priodi merched y bobloedd eraill sy'n byw yma. Ac eto mae gobaith i Israel er gwaetha'r cwbl. 3Gad i ni wneud ymrwymiad i'n Duw i yrru'r gwragedd yma a'u plant i ffwrdd, fel rwyt ti a'r rhai eraill sy'n parchu gorchmynion Duw yn cynghori. Gad i ni wneud hynny fel mae'r Gyfraith yn dweud. 4Tyrd, mae'n rhaid i ti wneud rhywbeth am y sefyllfa. Bwrw iddi. Dŷn ni tu cefn i ti.” 5Felly dyma Esra yn codi a chael arweinwyr yr offeiriaid a'r Lefiaid a pobl Israel i gyd i addo gwneud hyn. A dyma nhw i gyd yn addo ar lw y bydden nhw'n ufuddhau. 6Yna dyma Esra yn gadael y deml, a mynd i aros yn ystafell Iehochanan fab Eliashif. Wnaeth e ddim bwyta na hyd yn oed yfed dŵr tra roedd e yno; roedd e mor drist fod y bobl ddaeth yn ôl o'r gaethglud wedi bod mor anffyddlon. 7Yna cafodd cyhoeddiad ei anfon allan drwy Jwda a Jerwsalem, yn galw ar bawb ddaeth yn ôl o'r gaethglud i ddod at ei gilydd yn Jerwsalem. 8Byddai'r rhai oedd ddim yno o fewn tri diwrnod yn colli eu heiddo i gyd. Dyna oedd penderfyniad y swyddogion a'r arweinwyr. Byddai'r bobl hynny yn cael eu diarddel o gymdeithas y rhai ddaeth yn ôl o'r gaethglud. 9Felly daeth pawb o Jwda a Benjamin at ei gilydd i Jerwsalem o fewn tri diwrnod (ar yr ugeinfed diwrnod o'r nawfed mis ▼▼10:9 nawfed mis Cislef, sef nawfed mis y calendr Hebreig, o tua canol Tachwedd i ganol Rhagfyr.
). Roedden nhw i gyd yn sefyll yn y sgwâr o flaen teml yr Arglwydd. Roedd pawb yn nerfus iawn, ac yn crynu yn y glaw. 10Yna dyma Esra'r offeiriad yn sefyll i'w hannerch nhw, “Dych chi wedi bod yn anffyddlon, yn cymryd merched y bobloedd eraill yn wragedd. Mae hyn wedi gwneud Israel yn fwy euog fyth o flaen Duw! 11Mae'n bryd i chi anrhydeddu'r Arglwydd, Duw eich tadau, a gwneud beth mae e eisiau. Rhaid i chi dorri pob cysylltiad gyda'r bobl a'r gwragedd paganaidd yma.” 12A dyma pawb oedd yno yn ateb gyda'i gilydd, “Iawn, rhaid i ni wneud fel ti'n dweud! 13Ond mae yna lot fawr ohonon ni, ac mae'n glawio'n drwm. Allwn ni ddim sefyll allan yma. Dydy'r mater ddim yn mynd i gael ei setlo mewn rhyw ddiwrnod neu ddau, am fod gormod ohonon ni wedi pechu yn hyn o beth. 14Gall y penaethiaid weithredu ar ran pawb. Wedyn gosod dyddiad penodol i bob tref, i bawb yn y dref honno sydd wedi cymryd gwragedd o blith y bobloedd eraill, i ddod yma. Gall arweinwyr a barnwyr y dref ddod gyda nhw, nes bydd Duw ddim mor ffyrnig hefo ni am beth wnaethon ni.” 15(Yr unig rai oedd yn erbyn y cynllun yma oedd Jonathan fab Asahel a Iachseia fab Ticfa, gyda cefnogaeth Meshwlam a Shabbethai y Lefiad.) 16Felly aeth y bobl yn eu blaenau gyda'r cynllun. Dyma Esra'r offeiriad yn dewis dynion oedd yn arweinwyr yn eu clan, a'u rhestru nhw wrth eu henwau. A dyma nhw'n dechrau mynd ati i ddelio gyda'r mater ar ddiwrnod cynta'r degfed mis. ▼▼10:16 degfed mis Tebeth, sef degfed mis y calendr Hebreig, o tua canol Rhagfyr i ganol Ionawr.
17Roedd hi'n ddiwrnod cynta'r flwyddyn ▼▼10:17 flwyddyn Hebraeg, “mis cyntaf”, sef Abib (sydd hefyd yn cael ei alw yn Nisan). Mis cyntaf y calendr Hebreig sy'n rhedeg o tua canol Mawrth i ganol Ebrill.
