Sut i drin caethweision a caethforynion
(Deuteronomium 15:12-18) 1“Dyma'r rheolau rwyt ti i'w rhoi iddyn nhw: 2Os wyt ti'n prynu Hebrëwr yn gaethwas, rhaid iddo weithio i ti am chwe mlynedd. Ond ar ddechrau'r seithfed flwyddyn mae'n rhydd i fynd, heb dalu dim i ti. 3Os oedd yn sengl pan ddechreuodd weithio i ti, bydd yn gadael ar ei ben ei hun; ond os oedd yn briod, bydd ei wraig yn cael mynd gydag e. 4Os mai ei feistr roddodd wraig iddo, a hithau wedi cael plant, mae'r wraig a'i phlant yn aros gyda'r meistr, a'r gwas yn gadael ar ei ben ei hun. 5Ond falle y bydd y gwas yn dweud, ‘Dw i'n hapus gyda fy meistr, fy ngwraig a'm plant – dw i ddim eisiau bod yn ddyn rhydd.’ 6Os felly, bydd rhaid i'r meistr fynd i'w gyflwyno o flaen Duw. Wedyn bydd y meistr yn mynd ag e at y drws neu ffrâm y drws, ac yn rhoi twll trwy glust y gwas gyda mynawyd, i ddangos ei fod wedi dewis gweithio i'w feistr am weddill ei fywyd.7Os ydy rhywun wedi gwerthu ei ferch i weithio fel caethforwyn, fydd hi ddim yn cael mynd yn rhydd ar ddiwedd y chwe blwyddyn fel y dynion. 8Os nad ydy'r ferch yn plesio'r meistr wnaeth ei chymryd hi, mae'n gallu caniatáu i rywun ei phrynu hi'n ôl. Ond does ganddo ddim hawl i'w gwerthu hi i rywun o wlad arall, am ei fod wedi delio'n annheg gyda hi.
9Os ydy e wedi dewis ei rhoi hi i'w fab, rhaid iddi hi gael yr un hawliau, a chael ei thrin fel petai'n ferch iddo.
10Os ydy e'n cymryd gwraig arall, mae gan y wraig gyntaf hawl i dderbyn bwyd a dillad ganddo, ac i gael rhyw gydag e. 11Os nad ydy e'n fodlon rhoi'r tri peth yna iddi, mae ganddi hawl i fynd yn rhydd, heb dalu dim.

12Os ydy rhywun yn taro person arall a'i ladd, y gosb ydy marwolaeth. 13Os digwyddodd y peth trwy ddamwain, heb unrhyw fwriad i ladd, dw i'n mynd i drefnu lle saff i'r lladdwr ddianc iddo. 14Ond os oedd bwriad clir i ladd y person arall, cewch lusgo'r llofrudd i ffwrdd a'i ddienyddio, hyd yn oed os oedd e wedi dianc at fy allor i.15Os ydy rhywun yn taro ei dad neu ei fam, y gosb ydy marwolaeth.
16Os ydy rhywun yn herwgipio person arall, i'w werthu neu i'w ddal yn gaeth, y gosb ydy marwolaeth.
17Os ydy rhywun yn melltithio ei dad neu ei fam, y gosb ydy marwolaeth.
18Dyma sydd i ddigwydd os bydd dynion yn ymladd, ac un yn taro'r llall gyda charreg neu gyda'i ddwrn nes ei anafu a'i adael yn orweddog, ond heb ei ladd: 19Os bydd yr un gafodd ei anafu yn gwella ac yn gallu cerdded eto gyda ffon, fydd dim rhaid cosbi'r dyn wnaeth ei daro. Ond bydd disgwyl iddo dalu iawndal am yr amser gwaith gollodd y llall, a thalu unrhyw gostau meddygol nes bydd wedi gwella.
20Os ydy rhywun yn curo ei gaethwas neu ei forwyn gyda ffon, a'r gwas neu'r forwyn yn marw, rhaid iddo gael ei gosbi. 21Ond os ydy'r gwas neu'r forwyn yn dal yn fyw ar ôl diwrnod neu ddau, fydd y meistr ddim yn cael ei gosbi. Bydd eisoes ar ei golled.
22Os bydd dynion yn ymladd ac yn taro gwraig feichiog, a hithau'n colli'r plentyn, ond heb gael unrhyw niwed pellach, rhaid i'r dyn wnaeth ei tharo gael ei gosbi a thalu faint bynnag o iawndal mae gŵr y wraig yn ei hawlio a'r llys yn ei ganiatáu. 23Ond os ydy'r wraig ei hun yn cael niwed difrifol, rhaid i'r gosb gyfateb: Y ddedfryd fydd, bywyd am fywyd, 24llygad am lygad, dant am ddant, llaw am law, troed am droed, 25llosg am losg, anaf am anaf, clais am glais.
26Os ydy rhywun yn taro ei gaethwas neu ei forwyn yn ei lygad, a'i ddallu, rhaid gadael iddo fe neu hi fynd yn rhydd, fel iawndal am golli ei lygad.
27Os ydy e'n taro dant ei gaethwas neu ei forwyn allan, mae'r gwas neu'r forwyn i gael mynd yn rhydd, fel iawndal am y dant.

28Os ydy dyn neu wraig yn marw am fod tarw wedi ei gornio, rhaid lladd yr anifail drwy daflu cerrig ato, a dydy'r cig ddim i gael ei fwyta. Fydd y perchennog ddim yn cael ei gosbi. 29Ond os oedd y tarw wedi cornio rhywun o'r blaen, a'r perchennog yn gwybod hynny ond heb ofalu na fyddai'r peth yn digwydd eto, rhaid i'r tarw gael ei ladd a rhaid i'r perchennog farw hefyd; 30neu mae teulu'r un gafodd ei ladd yn gallu hawlio swm o arian yn iawndal gan berchennog y tarw. 31Mae'r un peth yn wir os ydy'r tarw yn cornio plentyn.32Os ydy'r tarw yn cornio caethwas neu forwyn, mae'r perchennog i dalu tri deg darn o arian, ac mae'r tarw i gael ei ladd drwy daflu cerrig ato.
33Os ydy rhywun yn cloddio pydew a'i adael ar agor, a tarw neu asyn rhywun yn syrthio iddo a marw, 34rhaid i'r sawl sydd biau'r pydew dalu am yr anifail, ond bydd yn cael cadw'r corff.
35Os ydy tarw un dyn yn cornio a lladd tarw rhywun arall, mae'r tarw byw i gael ei werthu, a'r arian i gael ei rannu rhyngddyn nhw. Maen nhw hefyd i rannu'r tarw gafodd ei ladd. 36Ond os oedd y tarw wedi cornio o'r blaen, a'r perchennog yn gwybod hynny ond heb ofalu na fyddai'r peth yn digwydd eto, rhaid iddo roi tarw yn ei le, a bydd e'n cael cadw'r anifail marw.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
