. 3Yn ystod ei drydedd flwyddyn fel brenin dyma fe'n cynnal gwledd fawr i'w swyddogion i gyd. Roedd penaethiaid byddin Persia a Media yno, a llywodraethwyr y taleithiau, a phawb arall o bwys. 4Roedd Ahasferus eisiau i bawb oedd yno wybod mor bwysig ac mor anhygoel gyfoethog oedd e, a'i weld yn ei holl ysblander brenhinol. Parodd y dathliadau am amser hir – chwe mis cyfan i fod yn fanwl gywir. 5Yna ar ddiwedd y chwe mis dyma fe'n cynnal gwledd oedd yn para am wythnos. Roedd pawb oedd yn Shwshan ar y pryd yn cael mynd, o'r bobl fawr i'r bobl fwya cyffredin. Roedd y wledd yn cael ei chynnal yn yr iard yng ngerddi'r palas brenhinol. 6Roedd pobman wedi ei addurno gyda llenni o liain main gwyn a phorffor. Roedd cylchoedd arian yn dal y llenni ar gordyn wedi ei wneud o liain main a gwlân porffor, ac roedden nhw'n hongian rhwng colofnau marmor. Ac roedd soffas o aur ac arian ar balmant hardd oedd â phatrymau trwyddo o feini ffelsbar, marmor, mam y perl, a cherrig lliwgar eraill. 7Roedd pobl yn yfed diodydd o gwpanau aur, ac roedd digonedd o'r gwin brenhinol gorau i bawb, a'r brenin yn talu am y cwbl. 8Gallai pobl yfed faint fynnen nhw. Roedd y brenin wedi dweud wrth y wetars i gyd am roi i bawb faint bynnag oedden nhw eisiau. 9Ar yr un pryd roedd y Frenhines Fasti yn cynnal gwledd i'r gwragedd i gyd ym mhalas y Brenin Ahasferus. 10Ar ddiwrnod ola'r wledd roedd y gwin wedi mynd i ben y brenin, a dyma fe'n gorchymyn ei saith ystafellydd (sef Mehwman, Bistha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Sethar, a Carcas) 11i ddod â'r frenhines Fasti o'i flaen, yn gwisgo ei choron frenhinol. Roedd y brenin eisiau i'w westeion a'i swyddogion weld mor hardd oedd hi – roedd hi'n wraig hynod o ddeniadol. 12Ond pan ddwedodd yr ystafellyddion wrthi beth oedd y brenin eisiau dyma'r frenhines yn gwrthod mynd. Roedd y brenin wedi gwylltio'n lân – roedd yn gynddeiriog! 13Dyma fe'n galw ei gynghorwyr ato – dynion doeth oedd yn deall yr amserau. (Roedd yn arfer gan frenin ofyn am gyngor dynion oedd yn arbenigwyr yn y gyfraith.) 14Y dynion agosaf ato oedd Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, a Memwchan. Nhw oedd uchel-swyddogion Persia a Media, y dynion mwyaf dylanwadol yn y deyrnas, ac roedden nhw'n cyfarfod gyda'r brenin yn rheolaidd. 15Dyma'r brenin yn gofyn iddyn nhw, “Beth ddylai ddigwydd i'r Frenhines Fasti? Beth mae'r gyfraith yn ei ddweud pan mae brenhines yn gwrthod gwneud beth mae'r brenin yn ei orchymyn?” 16Dyma Memwchan yn ymateb, “Nid dim ond y brenin sydd wedi ei sarhau gan y frenhines Fasti. Mae hi wedi pechu yn erbyn y swyddogion a'r bobl i gyd o'r taleithiau sy'n cael eu rheoli gan y brenin Ahasferus. 17Bydd gwragedd ym mhob man yn clywed am y peth a gwneud yr un fath, a dangos dim parch at eu gwŷr. Byddan nhw'n dweud, ‘Os ydy'r frenhines Fasti ddim yn ufuddhau i'w gŵr hi, y brenin Ahasferus, pam ddylen ni?’ 18Cyn diwedd y dydd bydd gwragedd uchel-swyddogion Persia a Media yn clywed beth wnaeth y frenhines, ac yn gwneud yr un fath i'w gwŷr! Fydd yna ddim diwedd ar y sarhau a'r ffraeo! 19Os ydy'r brenin yn cytuno, dylai anfon allan ddatganiad brenhinol am y peth, a'i ysgrifennu yn llyfrau cyfraith Persia a Media, fel bod dim modd ei newid. Ddylai Fasti ddim cael gweld y brenin Ahasferus byth eto, a dylai'r brenin roi ei theitl i rywun arall fyddai'n frenhines well na hi. 20Dylai dyfarniad y brenin gael ei gyhoeddi drwy'r deyrnas fawr yma'n gyfan. Wedyn bydd gwragedd yn parchu eu gwŷr, beth bynnag ydy eu safle cymdeithasol nhw.” 21Roedd y brenin a'r swyddogion eraill yn hoffi awgrym Memwchan, felly dyna wnaeth e. 22Anfonodd lythyrau allan i'r taleithiau i gyd. Roedd pob llythyr wedi ei ysgrifennu yn iaith y dalaith honno. Roedd yn dweud fod pob dyn i reoli ei deulu ei hun, ac y dylid siarad ei famiaith e yn y cartref.

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
