1Yn ystod cyfnod Dafydd fel brenin roedd yna newyn aeth ymlaen am dair blynedd lawn. Dyma Dafydd yn gofyn i'r Arglwydd pam. A dwedodd yr Arglwydd wrtho, “Am fod Saul a'i deulu yn euog o lofruddio pobl Gibeon.” 2(Doedd pobl Gibeon ddim yn Israeliaid. Nhw oedd yn weddill o'r Amoriaid, ac roedd yr Israeliaid wedi addo byw yn heddychlon â nhw ▼▼21:2 Doedd pobl Gibeon … heddychlon â nhw gw. Josua 9:22-27
. Ond roedd Saul wedi ceisio cael gwared â nhw am ei fod mor frwd dros Israel a Jwda.) Felly dyma'r Brenin Dafydd yn galw pobl Gibeon ato iddo gael siarad â nhw. 3Gofynnodd iddyn nhw, “Beth alla i wneud i chi? Sut alla i wneud iawn am hyn, fel eich bod chi yn bendithio pobl yr Arglwydd?” 4A dyma'r Gibeoniaid yn ateb, “Dydy arian byth yn mynd i wneud iawn am beth wnaeth Saul a'i deulu. Ac allwn ni ddim dial drwy ladd unrhyw un yn Israel.” Ond dyma Dafydd yn dweud, “Dwedwch beth ydych chi eisiau.” 5A dyma nhw'n ateb, “Saul oedd yr un oedd eisiau'n difa ni a chael gwared â ni'n llwyr o Israel. 6Rho saith o'i ddisgynyddion e i ni. Gwnawn ni eu crogi o flaen yr Arglwydd yn Gibea, tref Saul gafodd ei ddewis gan yr Arglwydd.” A dyma'r brenin Dafydd yn ateb, “Iawn, gwna i eu rhoi nhw i chi.” 7Dyma'r brenin yn arbed Meffibosheth (mab Jonathan ac ŵyr Saul) am fod Dafydd a Jonathan wedi gwneud addewid i'w gilydd o flaen yr Arglwydd. b 8Ond dyma fe'n cymryd y ddau fab gafodd Ritspa (merch Aia) i Saul, sef Armoni a Meffibosheth. Hefyd pum mab Merab ▼▼21:8 Merab "Merab" sydd mewn dwy lawysgrif Hebraeg a rhai llawysgrifau o'r LXX. "Michal" sydd yn y mwyafrif o'r llawysgrifau, sef merch Saul oedd yn un o wragedd Dafydd, ond gafodd hi ddim plant (gw. 2 Samuel 6:23). gw. hefyd 1 Samuel 18:19.

. Wnaeth hi ddim gadael i adar ddisgyn at y cyrff yn ystod y dydd, nac anifeiliaid gwylltion yn y nos. Clywodd Dafydd beth oedd Ritspa wedi ei wneud 12ac aeth i Jabesh yn Gilead a gofyn i'r awdurdodau yno am esgyrn Saul a Jonathan. (Pobl Jabesh oedd wedi dwyn cyrff y ddau o'r sgwâr yn Beth-shan, lle roedd y Philistiaid wedi eu crogi nhw ar ôl iddyn nhw gael eu ladd yn y frwydr yn Gilboa.) f 13Dyma Dafydd yn cymryd esgyrn Saul a Jonathan o Jabesh. Wedyn dyma nhw'n casglu esgyrn y rhai oedd wedi cael eu crogi, 14a'i claddu gydag esgyrn Saul a Jonathan ym medd Cish (tad Saul) yn Sela, yn ardal Benjamin. Ar ôl iddyn nhw wneud popeth roedd y brenin wedi ei orchymyn, dyma'r Arglwydd yn ateb gweddïau pobl dros y wlad. Brwydrau rhwng Israel a'r Philistiaid

Pan oedd Dafydd wedi blino'n lân 16roedd Ishbi-benob (un o ddisgynyddion y Reffaiaid) ar fin ei ladd. Roedd ei waywffon yn pwyso tair cilogram a hanner, ac roedd ganddo gleddyf newydd. 17Ond dyma Abishai ▼▼21:17 Abishai nai Dafydd, a brawd Joab.

Does gynnon ni ddim eisiau i lamp Israel gael ei diffodd!” 18Beth amser wedyn roedd brwydr arall yn erbyn y Philistiaid, yn Gob. Y tro hwnnw dyma Sibechai o Chwsha yn lladd Saff, un arall o ddisgynyddion y Reffaiaid. 19Mewn brwydr arall eto yn erbyn y Philistiaid yn Gob, dyma Elchanan fab Jair o Fethlehem yn lladd brawd ▼▼21:19 brawd Hebraeg yma heb ‛brawd‛. When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
