1Roedd yna ddyn o lwyth Benjamin yno ar y pryd – Sheba fab Bichri, dyn drwg oedd yn codi twrw. Dyma fe'n chwythu'r corn hwrdd ▼▼20:1 corn hwrdd Hebraeg, “shoffar”
a gweiddi, “Does gynnon ni ddim i'w wneud â Dafydd!Dŷn ni ddim yn perthyn i deulu Jesse!
Yn ôl adre bobl Israel!”
2Felly dyma ddynion Israel i gyd yn gadael Dafydd a dilyn Sheba fab Bichri. Ond arhosodd dynion Jwda gyda'r brenin a mynd gydag e o'r Afon Iorddonen i Jerwsalem. 3Wedi cyrraedd y palas yn Jerwsalem dyma Dafydd yn trefnu fod y deg cariad ▼
▼20:3 cariad Mae'r gair Hebraeg yn air am feistres neu bartner cyfreithlon oedd ddim yn wraig i ddyn yn ystyr lawnaf y gair.
roedd e wedi eu gadael i ofalu am y palas i'w cadw dan warchodaeth. Trefnodd fod ganddyn nhw bopeth roedden nhw ei angen, ond gafodd e ddim perthynas gyda nhw byth eto. Buon nhw'n byw fel gweddwon, dan glo am weddill eu bywydau. 4Yna dyma Dafydd yn dweud wrth Amasa, “Dos i gasglu milwyr Jwda ata i, a bydd yn ôl yma cyn pen tridiau.” 5I ffwrdd ag Amasa i gasglu milwyr Jwda at ei gilydd, ond cymerodd fwy o amser nag a roddodd Dafydd iddo. 6Felly dyma Dafydd yn dweud wrth Abishai, “Mae Sheba fab Bichri yn mynd i achosi mwy o helynt i mi nag Absalom! Cymer y dynion sydd gen i a dos ar ei ôl, rhag iddo gipio trefi caerog oddi arnon ni a llwyddo i ddianc.” 7Felly dyma ddynion Joab yn gadael Jerwsalem gyda gwarchodlu'r brenin (Cretiaid ▼▼20:7 Hebraeg, Cerethiaid, sy'n enw arall ar y Cretiaid.

roedd Amasa yn dod i'w cyfarfod. Roedd Joab yn ei lifrai milwrol, gyda cleddyf yn ei wain ar y belt oedd am ei ganol. Wrth iddo gamu ymlaen dyma'r cleddyf yn syrthio ar lawr. 9Dyma fe'n cyfarch Amasa, “Sut wyt ti frawd?” Yna gafaelodd ym marf Amasa gyda'i law dde wrth ei gyfarch gyda chusan. 10Doedd Amasa ddim wedi sylwi ar y dagr oedd yn llaw chwith Joab, a dyma Joab yn ei drywanu yn ei fol nes i'w berfedd dywallt ar lawr. Doedd dim rhaid ei drywanu yr ail waith, roedd yr ergyd gyntaf wedi ei ladd. Yna dyma Joab a'i frawd Abishai yn mynd yn ei blaenau ar ôl Sheba fab Bichri. 11Dyma un o swyddogion ifanc Joab yn sefyll wrth gorff Amasa a gweiddi, “Pawb sydd o blaid Joab ac yn cefnogi Dafydd, dilynwch Joab!” 12(Roedd Amasa yn gorwedd yno mewn pwll o waed ar ganol y ffordd.) Pan welodd y swyddog fod y milwyr i gyd yn aros i edrych ar y corff yn lle mynd heibio, dyma fe'n llusgo'r corff o'r ffordd i'r cae a thaflu clogyn drosto. 13Wedi i'r corff gael ei symud o'r ffordd dyma'r fyddin i gyd yn dilyn Joab i fynd ar ôl Sheba fab Bichri. 14Roedd Sheba wedi teithio o gwmpas llwythau Israel i gyd, a cyrraedd Abel-beth-maacha ▼▼20:14 Abel-beth-maacha Tref gaerog amddiffynnol heb fod yn bell o Dan yng ngogledd y wlad (tua 25 milltir i'r gogledd o Lyn Galilea).
. Roedd y llwythau eraill wedi ei wrthod, ond cafodd ei bobl ei hun, y Bichriaid, i'w ganlyn. 15Yna dyma Joab a'i ddynion yn cyrraedd yno, a gwarchae ar Abel-beth-maacha. Roedden nhw wedi codi ramp yn erbyn wal y dref. Wrth i filwyr Joab geisio torri trwy'r wal a'i chwalu, 16dyma ryw wraig ddoeth o'r dref yn gweiddi arnyn nhw, “Gwrandwch! Gwrandwch! Dwedwch wrth Joab am ddod yma. Mae gen i rywbeth i'w ddweud wrtho.” 17Pan aeth Joab ati, dyma'r wraig yn gofyn iddo, “Ai ti ydy Joab?” “Ie,” meddai. A dyma hi'n dweud, “Gwranda, mae gan dy forwyn awgrym.” “Dw i'n gwrando,” meddai. 18A dyma hi'n dweud wrtho, “Mae yna hen ddywediad, ‘Os ydych chi eisiau setlo unrhyw fater, ewch i ofyn cyngor yn Abel.’ 19Dw i'n un o'r rhai ffyddlon sydd eisiau gweld heddwch yn Israel. Ond rwyt ti yma'n ceisio dinistrio un o drefi pwysica'r wlad. Pam wyt ti eisiau difetha tref sy'n perthyn i'r Arglwydd?” 20Dyma Joab yn ateb, “Dim o'r fath beth! Dw i ddim eisiau dinistrio na difetha'r dre! 21Dim fel yna mae hi o gwbl. Mae yna ddyn o fryniau Effraim o'r enw Sheba fab Bichri wedi troi yn erbyn y brenin Dafydd. Dim ond i chi roi'r dyn hwnnw i mi, gwna i adael llonydd i'r dre.” “Iawn,” meddai'r wraig, “Gwnawn ni daflu ei ben e dros wal y dre i ti!” 22Felly dyma'r wraig yn rhannu ei chyngor doeth gyda'r bobl. When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
