1Beth amser wedyn, dyma Dafydd yn gweddïo ar yr Arglwydd a gofyn, “Ddylwn i symud i fyw i un o drefi Jwda?” A dyma'r Arglwydd yn ateb, “Ie, dos!”. “I ba un?” meddai Dafydd. “I Hebron ▼▼2:1 Hebron 19 milltir i'r de-orllewin o Jerwsalem. Y dref uchaf yn Israel – 3,000 o droedfeddi uwch lefel y môr. Ciriath-arba oedd enw'r dre ar un adeg (gw. Genesis 23:2; 35:27; Josua 15:54)

ac Abigail, gweddw Nabal o Carmel. 3A dyma'r dynion oedd wedi bod gydag e, a'u teuluoedd, yn mynd gyda Dafydd i fyw yn y trefi yn ardal Hebron. 4Yna dyma ddynion Jwda yn dod ac eneinio Dafydd yn frenin ar bobl Jwda. Clywodd Dafydd mai pobl Jabesh yn Gilead oedd wedi claddu Saul. 5Felly dyma fe'n anfon neges atyn nhw, “Bendith yr Arglwydd arnoch chi am fod mor deyrngar i'ch meistr Saul, a'i gladdu. 6Boed i'r Arglwydd fod yn garedig a ffyddlon i chi. Dw i hefyd yn mynd i'ch gwobrwyo chi am wneud hyn. 7Nawr, peidiwch bod ag ofn. Byddwch yn ddewr! Er bod eich meistr, Saul, wedi marw, mae pobl Jwda wedi fy eneinio i yn frenin arnyn nhw.” Ish-bosheth yn cael ei wneud yn frenin Israel
8Yn y cyfamser roedd Abner fab Ner, ▼▼2:8 mab Ner Roedd Abner yn gefnder i Saul (gw. 1 Samuel 14:50).

9Yno roedd wedi ei wneud e'n frenin ar Israel gyfan – gan gynnwys ardal Gilead, pobl Asher, Jesreel, Effraim a Benjamin. 10Roedd Ish-bosheth, mab Saul, yn bedwar deg oed pan ddaeth yn frenin ar Israel. Bu'n frenin arnyn nhw am ddwy flynedd. Ond roedd pobl Jwda yn dilyn Dafydd. 11Bu Dafydd yn frenin yn Hebron am saith mlynedd a hanner. Rhyfel rhwng Israel a Jwda
12Yna dyma Abner fab Ner a swyddogion milwrol Ish-bosheth, mab Saul, yn mynd o Machanaîm i Gibeon ▼▼2:12 Gibeon Chwe milltir i'r gogledd o Jerwsalem.
. 13A dyma Joab, mab Serwia ▼▼2:13 mab Serwia Chwaer Dafydd oedd Serwia, felly roedd Joab yn nai i Dafydd (gw. 1 Cronicl 2:12-17, a'r troednodyn yn 2 Samuel 17:25).

Dyma'r ddau grŵp yn aros, un bob ochr i'r pwll yn Gibeon. 14Dyma Abner yn gweiddi draw at Joab, “Gad i rai o'r milwyr ifanc ymladd yn erbyn ei gilydd o'n blaenau ni.” A dyma Joab yn cytuno. 15Felly dyma nhw'n cyfri un deg dau o lwyth Benjamin ar ochr Ish-bosheth, ac un deg dau o swyddogion Dafydd. 16Wrth reslo gyda'i gilydd dyma pob un yn gwthio'i gleddyf i ochr ei wrthwynebydd, a dyma nhw i gyd yn syrthio'n farw. (Dyna pam maen nhw'n galw'r lle hwnnw yn Gibeon yn ‛Faes y Llafnau‛.) 17Roedd yr ymladd yn galed y diwrnod hwnnw, a chafodd Abner a byddin Israel eu trechu gan filwyr Dafydd. 18Roedd tri mab Serwia ▼▼2:18 Serwia Chwaer Dafydd – gw. 1 Cronicl 2:16
yno, sef Joab, Abishai ac Asahel. Roedd Asahel yn gallu rhedeg mor gyflym â gasél, 19a dyma fe'n mynd ar ôl Abner. Roedd yn gwbl benderfynol o'i ddal. 20Dyma Abner yn troi i edrych yn ôl a galw arno, “Ai ti ydy e Asahel?” “Ie, fi!” meddai Asahel. 21“Dos ar ôl rhywun arall. Dal un o'r milwyr ifanc a chymryd ei arfau e,” meddai Abner wrtho. Ond doedd Asahel ddim yn fodlon rhoi'r gorau iddi. 22Galwodd Abner arno eto, “Tro yn ôl! Does gen i ddim eisiau dy ladd di. Sut allwn i wynebu Joab dy frawd?” 23Ond roedd Asahel yn gwrthod stopio. Felly dyma Abner yn ei daro yn ei fol â bôn ei waywffon, nes iddi ddod allan trwy'i gefn. Syrthiodd Asahel yn farw yn y fan a'r lle. Roedd pawb aeth heibio lle roedd Asahel wedi marw yn sefyll yn syn. 24Ond dyma Joab ac Abishai yn mynd ar ôl Abner. Erbyn iddi nosi roedden nhw wedi cyrraedd bryn Amma sydd gyferbyn â Giach, i gyfeiriad anialwch Gibeon. 25Roedd dynion Benjamin wedi dod at ei gilydd yno ac yn sefyll gydag Abner yn un grŵp ar ben y bryn. 26A dyma Abner yn gweiddi ar Joab, “Ydyn ni'n mynd i ddal ati i ladd ein gilydd am byth? Os daliwn ni ati bydd pethau yn ofnadwy o chwerw yn y diwedd. Dywed wrth dy ddynion am stopio mynd ar ôl eu brodyr!” 27Dyma Joab yn ateb, “Petaet ti heb ddweud hyn, mor sicr â bod Duw yn fyw, byddai'r dynion wedi dal ati i fynd ar eich ôl chi drwy'r nos!” 28Yna dyma Joab yn chwythu'r corn hwrdd ▼▼2:28 corn hwrdd Hebraeg, “shoffar”
, a dyma nhw'n stopio mynd ar ôl Israel, a rhoi'r gorau i'r ymladd. 29Y noson honno dyma Abner a'i ddynion yn mynd ar draws yr Araba a chroesi'r Afon Iorddonen. Yna martsio yn eu blaenau drwy'r bore wedyn nes cyrraedd yn ôl i Machanaîm. 30Wedi i Joab stopio mynd ar ôl Abner, dyma fe'n galw ei filwyr at ei gilydd. Dim ond un deg naw o ddynion Dafydd oedd wedi eu colli, ar wahân i Asahel. 31Ond roedd milwyr Dafydd wedi rhoi crasfa iawn i ddynion Benjamin, sef byddin Abner – roedd tri chant chwe deg ohonyn nhw wedi eu lladd! 32Yna dyma Joab a'i filwyr yn cymryd corff Asahel a'i gladdu ym medd ei dad yn Bethlehem. Wedyn dyma nhw'n teithio drwy'r nos a chyrraedd yn ôl i Hebron pan oedd hi'n gwawrio.

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
