Chwshai yn camarwain Absalom
1Yna dyma Achitoffel yn dweud wrth Absalom, “Gad i mi gymryd un deg dau o filoedd o ddynion, a mynd allan ar ôl Dafydd, heno! 2Bydd e wedi blino'n lân ac yn wan erbyn i mi ddal i fyny ag e. Bydda i'n ei ddychryn, a bydd ei fyddin yn dianc mewn panig. Dim ond y brenin wna i ei ladd. 3Gwna i ddod â gweddill y bobl yn ôl atat ti. Dim ond un dyn sydd angen ei ladd. Fydd neb arall yn cael niwed.” 4Roedd yn swnio'n gynllun da i Absalom ac arweinwyr Israel i gyd. 5Ond yna dyma Absalom yn dweud, “Dewch â Chwshai yr Arciad yma, i ni weld beth sydd ganddo fe i'w ddweud.” 6Pan ddaeth Chwshai, dyma Absalom yn dweud wrtho beth oedd cyngor Achitoffel. “Beth ydy dy farn di? Ydy e'n gyngor da? Ac os ddim, beth wyt ti'n awgrymu?” 7Dyma Chwshai yn ateb, “Na, dydy cyngor Achitoffel ddim yn dda y tro yma. 8Mae dy dad a'i ddynion yn filwyr dewr. Ti'n gwybod hynny'n iawn. Maen nhw'n gallu bod mor filain ag arth wyllt wedi colli ei chenawon! Mae e wedi hen arfer rhyfela. Fyddai e byth yn cysgu'r nos gyda'i ddynion. 9Mae'n siŵr ei fod yn cuddio mewn rhyw ogof neu rywle tebyg. Petai e'n ymosod ar dy ddynion di gyntaf, a rhai ohonyn nhw'n cael eu lladd, byddai'r stori'n mynd ar led fod byddin Absalom wedi cael crasfa. 10Bydd hyd yn oed y milwyr mwyaf dewr – y rhai sy'n gryfion fel llewod – yn digalonni. Mae pobl Israel i gyd yn gwybod fod dy dad wedi hen arfer rhyfela, a bod y dynion sydd gydag e yn filwyr profiadol. 11Dyma fy nghyngor i: Casgla ddynion Israel i gyd at ei gilydd, pawb – o Dan yn y gogledd i Beersheba ▼▼17:11 Dan … Beersheba Roedd Dan wrth droed Mynydd Hermon yn y gogledd ar y llwybr masnach i Damascus. Roedd Beersheba 23 milltir i'r de-orllewin o Hebron ar y prif lwybr masnach i'r Aifft.

Fydd e na neb arall sydd gydag e yn cael eu gadael yn fyw! 13A hyd yn oed os bydd e'n llwyddo i ddianc i ryw dref gaerog, bydd dynion Israel yn tynnu'r waliau i lawr gyda rhaffau a llusgo'r dref i lawr i'r ceunant. Fydd dim hyd yn oed un garreg fechan ar ôl!” 14A dyma Absalom ac arweinwyr Israel yn ymateb, “Mae cyngor Chwshai yn well na chyngor Achitoffel.” A dyna sut gwnaeth yr Arglwydd ddrysu cyngor da Achitoffel er mwyn achosi helynt i Absalom. 15Yna dyma Chwshai yn mynd i ddweud wrth Sadoc ac Abiathar yr offeiriaid beth oedd cyngor Achitoffel i Absalom, a beth oedd e ei hun wedi ei ddweud. 16“Felly anfonwch neges ar frys at Dafydd i ddweud wrtho am beidio aros dros nos wrth rydau'r anialwch,” meddai. “Dwedwch wrtho am groesi'r Iorddonen yn syth, rhag ofn iddo fe a phawb sydd gydag e gael eu lladd.” 17Roedd Jonathan ac Achimaats (meibion yr offeiriaid) yn aros yn En-rogel ▼▼17:17 En-rogel sef, Ffynnon y Pannwr
. Felly byddai morwyn yn mynd â negeseuon iddyn nhw, a hwythau wedyn yn mynd â'r negeseuon ymlaen i'r brenin Dafydd. (Doedd wiw iddyn nhw gael eu gweld yn mynd i mewn i Jerwsalem.) 18Ond roedd rhyw fachgen ifanc wedi eu gweld nhw, a mynd i ddweud wrth Absalom. Felly dyma'r ddau yn gadael ar frys a mynd i dŷ rhyw ddyn yn Bachwrîm. Roedd gan hwnnw bydew yn ei fuarth, a dyma nhw'n dringo i lawr i'r pydew. 19Yna dyma wraig y dyn yn rhoi gorchudd dros geg y pydew a taenu grawn drosto, fel bod dim i'w weld. 20Pan ddaeth gweision Absalom at y tŷ dyma nhw'n gofyn i'r wraig, “Ble mae Achimaats a Jonathan?” A dyma hi'n ateb, “Maen nhw wedi croesi'r nant.” Aeth y dynion i chwilio amdanyn nhw, ond methu dod o hyd iddyn nhw. Felly dyma nhw'n mynd yn ôl i Jerwsalem. 21Pan oedden nhw wedi mynd, dyma Achimaats a Jonathan yn dringo allan o'r pydew a mynd i roi'r neges i'r Brenin Dafydd. Dyma nhw'n dweud wrtho am frysio i groesi'r afon, a beth oedd cyngor Achitoffel yn ei erbyn. 22Felly dyma Dafydd a'i fyddin yn croesi'r Afon Iorddonen. Roedden nhw i gyd wedi croesi cyn iddi wawrio y bore wedyn. 23Pan welodd Achitoffel eu bod nhw wedi gwrthod ei gyngor e, dyma fe'n cyfrwyo'i asyn a mynd adre. Ar ôl rhoi trefn ar ei bethau, dyma fe'n crogi ei hun, a cafodd ei gladdu ym medd y teulu. 24Roedd Dafydd wedi hen gyrraedd Machanaîm erbyn i Absalom a byddin Israel i gyd groesi'r Iorddonen. 25Roedd Absalom wedi penodi Amasa yn bennaeth y fyddin yn lle Joab. (Roedd Amasa yn fab i Ismaeliad ▼▼17:25 Fel rhai llawysgrifau Groeg (gw. hefyd 1 Cronicl 2:17); Hebraeg, “Israeliad.”

How do I do a word study?

When you click on a word, the detailed lexicon opens with:
'Vocabulary' Bibles link the translation to Greek & Hebrew. So far, only some Bibles have this vocabulary feature. They are shown in the Bible select screen with the letter 'V'.
It is the number of occurrences of a word in the Bible. Click on it to see them all in the selected Bible(s).
This reveals different forms for some words and names. These details are often interesting to scholars, eg the word 'beginning' in Genesis.
